Hi guys,
I must apologise. After answering every question posted here, and 99% of them in a timely manner, I wasn't able to get to some late last week.
I am currently on transit home, and I'm writing this from Singapore.
I should be back on deck by about Thursday, and will do my best to catch up with the back log then.
Are you kidd'in Rowan, you give heaps. Hope you had a great time back in Oz, seems you did...

Hi Rowsus. Hope you had a great time on your holiday!

I have 5 trades and $79K. My two "issues" are Grundy and Smith. I was thinking of trading in Adamson for Hamling to provide the link with Saad. I could possibly loophole Saad and Smith then. The cash would go towards upgrading Grundy to either Jacobs or Blicavs.

Or should I leave Grundy for now and spend the coin on upgrading Smith?

Your thoughts (when you get a moment) would be much appreciated as always.

Howdy Row, hope you had a great time in Melbourne recently.

Thinking about holding this week, only 2 trades left.
Maybe next week bring in T Adams and cheap def, eski/kelly.
And forfeit Gaz or Rock.

Thought appreciated.

Rowsus,

How must haves is G Ablett. People say that without God in your life you are likely to wander stray, will the same happen to my Supercoach team?
Last week I got Rocky over him because I wanted to trade Dumont instead of Krakour. I forgot how he racks SuperCoach for doing Absolutley nothing, had an avergae final quarter by anyone's standards with two frees against, thought he'd get 20-25 but got 60. It was then when I realised how crucial he was.
I've got 5 trades and can get him by going;
Saad (who resumes full training next week and won't play adelaide) ----> Kkol Geelong
Krak---> Ablett.
That leaves me with 3 trades and 10k, but mean I'll be loop holing a midfeilder each weak and could rsult in 110's sitting on my Midfeild bench while Smith scores 60s in the back line.

Or I could just go saad---> Malcheski and wait....

My current team (after the 2 trades):
Will three trades be enough to counter the carnage to come??
No R18 split bye this year to stop the resting, but an even comp may reduce that anyway.

Advice appreciated.

Hi Rowsus,

4 trades left and wondering if I should use one to trade out either Amon or Glenn to Caleb Daniel (if he gets named) by swinging Steele into the Mids....
Hi Rowsus,

My plan this week was to go Oxley to Hodge. Now that Selwood is out is this the opportunity to go Selwood to Ablett....
Hi Rowan,
Four trades left, a full side (sort of), is Ablett worth it to burn two? Seeing a few doing this, I doubt the wisdom this far out?
I hope you have a ball Friday night buddy.
Slainte,
Keith
Hey Rowsus,

What do you think? Sidebottom +20k or Rocky considering that I am planning on trading out Lumumba next week.....
Pretty simple. I have 6 trades left and am considering two options, one to make cash and conserve trades and one to get rockliff into the team....
Break it to us Row (or anyone else with the formula), how much will Gazza be next week and BE????
Apologies to the above members.
Obviously situations have changed, in some cases drastically, so there seems little point in spending time answering these questions a week too late.

Hi Rowsus,

J Kelly vs Malceski for D6. Both around the same price. Malceski has been playing well since Ablett rejoined the team but is it only because Saad is not playing... Who do you think will score more from here on out?
J Kelly - $343,800 B/E 41 Ave 75 with a 9, 35, and 57 in there.
Still to play: GWS, Bris, Syd, Haw, StK, Coll, Ade
His best scores have come in wins this season - all 5 of his scores over 86 are in wins.
N Malceski - $347,700 B/E 22 Ave 65 with a 41, 46 and 2 x 52's in there.
Still to play: Ade, WC, Bris, Rich, Ess, Port, Syd
Only 3 scores for the season over 67, but 2 of those were his last 2 scores.
There's probably not a lot between them, and really they are not D5 material, but could be good for those struggling to fill their team, and need some value to finish it off, or a looking for a D7 back up, or a D6/7 loophole option.
Given Kelly seems to need to play in a winning side to score well, and his future is a bit "cloudier" than Malceski's, I'd probably go Malceski.

Hi Bobbie,
it was great holiday, thank you. :)
Obviously, there is probably a change in your plans, with a cloud over Saad.
Grundy is only averaging around 82 when Witts plays, so given some of the Rucks are consistently scoring over 100 now, you are losing around 20+/week, while Witts and Grundy play together. Given most are struggling somewhere in Defence, you are not giving up too many points at your D6 position, so if Witts is selected, it is probably best to upgrade Grundy. I will put one rider on this though. Collingwoods draw in the last 7 games is very Ruck friendly: WBull, Melb, Carl, Syd, Rich, Geel, Ess. The potential is there, especially if Witts disappears, for Grundy to do ok. I still think I would upgrade him, if Witts is selected this week though.

Rowsus,

Glad you enjoyed your trip over ... sorry I missed the big catchup.

If you have a chance, could you ponder my scenario? I had one piece of feedback in another thread, but was also hoping for your insights:

I have 6 trades left and about $100k remaining. I have 2 rookies (Lever and Krakouer) that are arguably ready to cull that, if I wanted to, I could perform one last upgrade/downgrade. However, I already have a full set of 22 'premiums'.

So I suppose my two options I'm considering are this:

1. Do the upgrade / downgrade to acquire a 23rd premium, and place the weakest of the existing 22 on the bench
2. Do the downgrade, but upgrade the 22nd premium instead to strengthen the Top 22

Option 1 would leave me with about the same cash leftover, and would give some solid cover in case of emergency (either across M/F or M/D, depending on where I take it)

Option 2 would leave me with a fair bit of cash in reserve, but still relying on rookies only for cover. For this option, the 'weak' premiums I would be considering upgrading would be either Hibberd in DEF, or either Wines / Griffen in the MID.

Your thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Howdy Juzzo, I sure did, thanks.
Looking at your team, you've done well to build some links, and have some coverage. I would probably hold off trading this week, just in case more problems arise next week!

Mate no worries at all, we all appreciate your efforts with this thread and I'm sure everyone would agree that there is no need to apologies for not getting to questions. :)

Hope your trip to Australia was good, I'm shattered I couldn't make it down to Melbourne to meet you, next time you are in Aus I'm sure that SCS can arrange another meet up ;) haha

McC,
on the exposed scores since he came back, he's pretty close to a must have. I don't think having the ability to loophole a good player at M8/9 is such a bad thing, and the question becomes, with the problems everyone is having at D6, what will give you a bigger boost in score? Ablett coming in, who might average 130-135, or Smith's replacement? Keep in mind, Ablett becomes a very real Captain choice, especially given the vulnerabilty Fyfe has shown in the past few weeks. I think I'd get Ablett, before fixing Smith.

Thanks mate, just wondering your thoughts on T Adams, for someone in my situation, last 4 scores over 100, $517,900K? Collingwood's run looks pretty good too.

TBO,
with Gray sitting in your Mids, Griffen at M8, and a potential problem in Beams to come, I think I would be trying to add a bit of strength/depth there. Unless you are confident you can improve Hibberd by 15-20 points, I would probably look at Griffen to Hannebery.

Thanks GG,
hopefully it won't be 2 years between visits next time.
I read you are going to Richmond this cricket season. One of my best mates sons was going there too, but he got "poached" by Dandenong instead. He's following a similar path to yourself, in that he is currently training with the State U/17 squad. I believe he topped the averages in Dowling Shield last season as well. His name is Edward Newman. Keep an eye out for him, he may be your competition for a Shield spot in a few seasons! ;)

Yeah I hope not :)
Hahaha yes I will keep an eye out haha.

If you get a chance mate would you mind having a look at my slight/potential issue...
(I've just copied over snippets of info haha)

I have Beams. I'm not someone who wants to trade him out coz of the talk going around about when he will go in for surgery. He's been on fire lately, and had he not gone at around 50% DE on the weekend would've cracked the 100 comfortably.

My issue though is that I currently have 3 trades, only 2 after the highlighted trades above.
If Beams does go in early for surgery, there goes my last trade. However my DPP links will cover all positions (except RUC).

So my question is, should I maybe do the Beams to Ablett??
I don't want to, but it would mean I would probably have 2 trades left, as I wouldn't need to do the Amon to Payne trade to get the last bit of coin.

Would love some opinions :) Team linked :)

Agree with whiteTiga2k, trying to get Ablett now with only 3 trades left seems extremely risky. Plus, looking at your team, you could still be 1 premium short if McGovern doesn't get up for a few weeks. Could you consider upgrading him to a cheaper FWD option (i.e.: Goddard, Bartel)? This way you'll still have 22 decent premiums, with at least 1 line covered with a decent-enough rookie on the bench.

Good luck.
McGovern was going to be traded out as part of the plan to get Ablett.

I should have Bennell come back this week who slots onto the field, meaning I have 6 premiums, and Steele on the pine.

Here's my side atm.

Initial plan was to do this...

Steele would then most likely move forward with the addition of Ablett, and be used for loopholing, or I could keep him in the MID as a loophole, depending on which worked better. But the Beams story changes things possibly a little...

Thanks mate, just wondering your thoughts on T Adams, for someone in my situation, last 4 scores over 100, $517,900K? Collingwood's run looks pretty good too.
Happy to help.
Adams has certainly been on fire, and his M/F status is useful too. Unless you think he might become tricky for you to reach, with his B/E of 64, or you are really confident in him, I still think I'd hold off, just in case.

Hey there Rowsus.

Hope the flight home was comfortable for you. Was great to catch up with you last week. I had a ripper night.
Apologies again for that late phone call. It's fair to say that I'd had a fair sip. Got to my room, checked my phone, had 4 missed calls and a few messages, was going through them and the phone started dialing. I fair dinkum went into panic mode trying to turn the phone off then all of a sudden you answered. Felt quite the idiot I did.

Anyhow, my question is. For the money it takes to get Gaz with 1 trade, Would I be better off using 2 trades and upgrading 2 deadwood players (Hibberd and Smith) and bypassing Gaz. Looking at overall points for the rest of the season.

This is better explained if you have a quick look at Round 17 trades, page 10, #193.
Would value your opinion on this trade. Don't worry too much if you haven't got the time. I can understand you would be pretty busy and a little jet lagged at present.

Cheers.
