Fyfe cleared is good news. Hodge deserved at least 3 weeks though... That was really bad smashing Wingard's head into the post, 2 weeks is a bit light considering the incident and his history.

Hodge 2 weeks... Sigh. I agree it was a bad look but think he's unlucky given Wingard was going to whiplash himself on the post regardless.

Oh well, top 4 sewn up and games against Brisbane and Carlton to come. Not ideal finals preparation but not really that damaging to our season.

Glad Fyfe got off. Love him, deserves the Charlie more than anyone this year.

Well they were probably going to rest him anyway. Now he gets 2 weeks off to be fit and firing.

Very happy about Fyfe... He's a star.

Agree. it was a 2 game ban that went up to 3 given poor record and back to two for early plea.

lol... Sorry but I find it funny that the two people who disagree with Hodges 2 weeks so far are West Coast supporters who would love to have him out for our first final.

Wingard was going to whiplash himself on the post regardless. Yes Hodge clipping him was a bad look, but it did no damage so if anything it seems harsh to go outside the grading system just to hand him a harsher penalty. The damage was 90% the post and 10% Hodge. Wingard kicked 2 goals in the next 10 minutes. You see people being graded medium impact when a player ends up concussed and sitting out the rest of the game, so manipulating the grading to hand him a harsher penalty for a bad look is just absurd.

Makes me remember poor old Richie Vandenberg who was handed weeks for "attempted elbowing". ATTEMPTED.

Happy to call a spade a spade, Hodge is a dirty player that deliberately squashed his head into goal post, with a hip and shoulder lined up perfectly to the head.
He perfectly executed what he wanted to do in that situation, and wanted to significantly hurt him.
Look I dunno how anyone who watches this guy every week can look them self in the mirror and say otherwise. Unless you are covered in brown and gold bias.
He is often doing dirty crap on field, some reportable but mostly just annoying, and no matter how much the AFL or Channel 7 want to promote this goose and brainwash the masses, you can always go to the footy and see the truth for yourself.
Should have been sent to the Tribunal and got 5-6 weeks, but as the saying goes 'what goes around, comes around'.

On the other hand, the two people who disagree with the ban so far are both Hawthorn supporters.

As a neutral supporter I believe the ban is fair. Hodge chose to bump Wingard and made contact with his head.

It was a very dangerous thing to do especially so close to the behind post and he was lucky that Wingard wasn't seriously injured.

I think the fact the point post was there is irrelevant - he decided to bump and he hit him in the head. 2 weeks seems fair.

Have to disagree there. Regardless of if Wingard's body was going to hit the post or not... Hodge chose to bump Wingards HEAD with his hip straight into the the behind post. That is a very dangerous and reckless act and ANY player who commited that act should be dealt with very harshly. If Wingard's head was anywhere near the post... Hodge has a duty of care not to smash it into the post. While Wingard was very lucky not to have a serious injury this time, there was a real potential to cause serious injury by that action. That's why they changed the MRP rules this year to take into account the potential to cause serious injury.

Then you have to take into account Hodge's history of dirty acts. Having already served a 3 game penalty this year. Hodge deserved to miss 3 matches and there should have been a real consequence to his actions, Missing a final would have achieved that.

My views on what Hodge should have received have nothing to do whatsoever with being a West Coast supporter. We are gunning for top spot on the ladder and have a real shot at getting it, so we might not even meet Hawthorn first week. No team holds any fear for me and i'm extremely confident of beating Hawthorn the next time we play them regardless of if Hodge did or didn't play.

I think 2 weeks is reasonable. I think 3 weeks is excessive for that... in slow motion it looks worse than in real time.

Of course us hawks were hoping it would of been deemed low impact, but I think it was very much always on the cards that he was going to get suspended.

Will be an exciting final series... and feel the same as you do LITS for your side. At our best, I think we are the best team in the league by a fair way... and no matter where we play, we'll win. It's just whether we can get the best out at the right time.

What chance he plays in both? I know it's not wrapped up at the top, but you'd think he might have a week off pre-finals.

AFL taking the **** with Fyfe decision.

Was never going to get a fine due to the media attention. I think Lake even got a fine for NOT forcefully pushing a player into the fence.

Don't think Fyfe will win Brownlow anyway but would have been good for MRP/AFL to show some balls.

Yep I agree with this and while it was reckless the slow mo stills make it look much worse. 2 games was the right call. There's no way this was as bad as his dirty elbow on Swallow earlier this year. Love watching Hodge play, dirty hits and all. The bloke just goes into "jailhouse" mode when his opponent Is soundly beating him.

lol I don't disagree with the suspension of 2 weeks. Chose to bump, got him high, 2 weeks... Fine. The west coast people campaigning for 3 weeks are kidding themselves. Seems awfully convenient doesn't it?

Robbie Gray gets ko'd and has to be subbed out, Gibbs got 2 weeks. You want a harsher penalty for a guy who caused no damage? How bout a little perspective.

Do you honestly think his intention was to potentially break his neck on the post? If you do - you are just plain stupid.
