SuperCoach 2015 SC Gold team Picker has now opened so I've created a new Rate My Team.

Please feel free to discuss your team and use the format:

D: D1, D2 ... (D7, D8)
M: M1, M2 ... (M9, M10, M11)
R: R1, R2 (R3)
F: F1, F2 ... (F7, F8)

Not sure if that's the correct format!

2016: Rate My Team (SC Gold Team Picker Open)

Well, that was fun. First attempt, not looking at prices, 5 min team. Rookies obviously just a random fill for structure.

Hi Johnsy,

The first thing that struck me was the number of midprices/speculative picks you have Yeo, Smith, Malceski, Libber, O'meara, Crouch, Stanley, Walker, Wright, Wells so that is 10, whilst some may come of, if a majority fail or don't prove to be as succesfull as you hoped, I think you will eating away at your trades fixing the problems. I'm OK with Yeo, Smith, Libber, O'meara and maybe Crouch, but otherwise I think you might have too many.

Not a bad start though.

Well, that was fun. First attempt, not looking at prices, 5 min team. Rookies obviously just a random fill for structure.

My immediate thoughts are:

Pros
1. Ablett, Rockliff, Liberatore, O'Meara, Crouch. All of the injury affected 2015 players who are basically must haves this season. Even if they don't fire, everyone else will be in the same boat.
2. Love the look of Daniel Rich as a def / mid. Pre season 2015 was great, fell apart during the season. Brisbane had some serious injury concerns in the engine room last year with Rockliff, Hanley and then Beams late. Getting a bit of star power back on the field surely helps those second tier players.
3. Daisy and Wells in the fwd line for mine are high risk and high reward. The last time we picked up Thomas expecting 80-110 he delivered 60-80. I personally think and hope he bounces back this season. Wells also very interesting at $243k if he's not fat and can get in the best 22

Cons
1. Joel Selwood is on a restricted training program due to a foot injury
2. I hate the look of Blicavs for $562k. I wrote in detail on another thread about how the cats were the major beneficiaries of the "3rd man up" exploitation this year. If they stamp that out, good bye to some of his hitouts. The cats also recruited Zac Smith in the off season, and have Mitch Clark to return as a FWD / Ruck. I think his output will drop off this year. I also hate the cats, so I'm biased.
3. Rory Sloan is a question mark for mine. The crows lost Dangerfield obviously, making Sloan the number 1 target. If you think he copes well with a tag, go for it. If not, $570k could spell trouble because I'm not sure he will average 105-115

Appreciate the thoughts.

Blicavs was my last player selected. I was looking up and down the Ruck list, and couldn't find a single player that I thought would be likely to beat their previous average.

Sloane was on the cusp of uber-elite last year, until his constant injury concerns. Multipe 50 and 60 scores have just made his discount too good to ignore

My first crack

D: McVeigh D/M, Hooker D/F, Bartel D/M, Rich D/M, Francis D/M, Otten (Hibberd D/M, Adamson D/M)
M: Pendles, Ablett, JPK, Rocky, Libba, Lucas, Jansen, Freeman, Cuningham, Keays, Mathieson
R: Martin, Leuey R/F (Wyatt R/F)
F: Montagna M/F, Martin M/F, Dahlhaus M/F, Barlow M/F, Menzel, Kerride M/F (Petracca, Brown D/F)

Rookies are just fillers for now of course

DEF
I regretted not starting McVeigh & Bartel in defence 2 years ago when they were available in defence so won't be making that mistake again. Hooker's D/F link appeals to me so why the heck not for now. I like the look of Rich being a defender for next year.
Yeo and Smith were 2 players who frustrated me so much this year... they present good value but not sure whether I can handle picking them again next year but it's still very very early in the preseason.

MID
Pendles is always my first pick and so hoping that the Pendles/GAJ combo makes a comeback next year. With JPK, he's always been a reliable scorer for me even though sometimes I wish I never picked him throughout the course of the season but I've started him every year since 2012 so why stop now? :p. Rocky at that price is just too hard to ignore. Libba lock and loaded.
I saw that Selwood was good value but after this year and the recent restricted program he is on... definitely a NO from me as a starter.

RUC:
Initially I did want a set and forget combo of Goldy/Martin but now with Leuey available at his cheap price and now being DPP, I would look forward to moving him to F7 in future and look to upgrade to Goldy via forward cash cows hopefully.

FWD:
Love having Montagna as a fwd, too good not to have, just hoping age won't be too huge of a factor. I regretted not starting Dahlhaus all year so won't make that mistake again next year. Was a toss up between Dusty/Delids... but Dusty for now. Was also a toss up between Bennell & Barlow... picking Barlow for now.

Still have about $96k to play around with for now.

that seemed way too easy! can't share my team right now but excluding rookies i seemed to settle for players quite quickly and have plenty left in the bank. i guess that's SC's way of saying Merry Xmas!

You have kept it simple Bender, I like it. Will attempt something similar. 15 maybe keepers, then rookies. Classic G n R, v. nice attempt.

Well if you're on the same page I must be doing something right! Feels a link to vanilla for this time of year. Wouldn't mind dusty getting rubbed out as I can't stand Richmond for one and I also wouldn't mind having Joey in there
