Hi BC

I really like your team..your defence is really good my only concern is bartel. can you reach a 90 point avg this season?

mids are fantasic. i personally think you have too many and you could downgrade crouch to a rookie and upgrade someone like wells to strengthen your forward line. Wells is to injury prone however if your plan is to keep him until round 7 then i can understand the rationale. i would be watching barlow and bird. i have heard big things about them to and starting to consider bird. other than that great looking team

Cheers mate,
With the hope Bird, Kennedy, can hit the 85-90's and odd 100+
to justify the weak fwd line. If not than smith or crouch will be downgraded to bring in a Green type in the fwd line.

I don't mind this team but always good having a look at people's responses

DEF: Kolodjashnij, Bartel, Yeo, Smith, Harwood, rookie (rookie, rookie)

MID: Pendlebury, Ablett, Treloar, Rockliff, Libba, rookie, rookie, rookie (rookie, rookie, rookie)

RUCK: Martin, Naitanui (West/Currie)

FWD: Martin, Dahl, Barlow, Rioli, Kennedy, Petracca (Kerridge, rookie)

I am in two minds to downgrade Harwood to a defensive rookie, NicNat to Sinclair and Rioli to Bird to upgrade a mid rookie to Wines. I don't care about the byes. Premos get injured and may as well have the team I want from the start.

hi junior wolf

good looking team...the structure is good. my only issue is you have gone lean in the fwd line. if we look at your fwd line..barlow and rioli are my concerns. barlow we can sit and wait to see what he does in the nab. rioli huge injury concerns. i would consider a bird type player.

rucks very good and good back up.

mids very good...treloar will be good for the pies. ppl are saying wines could have a break out year. so wines could also be an option

def: bartel and harwood concern me. you can see what bartel does in the preseaosn but harwood i would downgrade to a rookie and use the money to fix the fwd line. perhaps you can upgrade barlow to a lids or someone like that.

Just on this statement, Rioli only missed two games from memory last year. One due to attending a family funeral, and one due to just a simple rest (from what I remember), played his best year of footy in my book and was injury free.
Bird is coming of virtually a year out injured isn't he??

I think I would rather Cyril to Bird, but that may be the Hawk in my coming out...

Thanks mate for the suggestions. I'd pick McVeigh over Bartel but with McVeigh not running until late January, I am going with the crowd and picking Bartel (for now). For me, I have also heard talk that Fyfe is not back to full training yet with the leg surgery, meaning to me that either Barlow or Bennell will replace Fyfe in the guts or will spend more time in the middle until Fyfe is better. I am not bothered about Rioli's injury history right now. His 2015 season showed that he has adapted to his new training from injury years and is at full health right now. And with Hawks midfield aging, Rioli could move away from a forward pocket to a more midfield orientated position. I don't trust Lids achillies and wouldn't switch Barlow to him. Thanks again.

I don't think Bird was injured most of the year, but he just couldn't break it into the Sydney team (I think after my Dogs won). He happily moved to Victoria for more playing opportunities.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!!

my 1st attempt:
DEF: H. Shaw, A. Rance, J. McVeigh, D. Rich, A. Otten, C. Byrne (C. Adamson, M. Hibberd)
MID: S. Pendlebury, G. Ablett jnr, M. Priddis, T. Rockliff, T. Liberatore, K. Lucas, N. Freeman, J. Jansen (D. Cuningham, B. Keays, R. Mathieson)
RUC: S. Martin, M. Leuenberger (D. Wyatt)
FWD: L. Montagna, D. Martin, L. Dahlhaus, H. Bennell, B. Kennedy, S. Kerridge (C. Petracca, M. Brown)
$13,300 left over
rookies are just fillers for now until the later weeks to come

Overall it's alright;
H.Bennell did good for me last year when it counted, I hope he changes his act with a new side but then also gives me the worry about him being at a different club, but for now ill will keep him there.
M. Leuenberger Mid pricers are annoying especially if they're R/F, fell for the trap with T Bellchambers last year, seems like i will again this year, Goldie is too expensive and hopefully will drop in price.
Second guessing if i should start H. Shaw & A. Rance or not, my other plan was C. Hooker & J. Bartel giving me $184,100 to play around with.

I guess that rookies are all speculative this time of the year. Just keep in mind that Kane Lucas is still on Eagles rookie list and with the addition of Jetta and Redden, he moves back a few spots. Also Andy Otten is injured again apparently.

Very strong defence with those premos. It is your call starting with Shaw and Rance. I like Rance and he might make his way into my team. Midfield looks fine. Forward line looks very strong. Rucks look a little weak with Mr Burger but we shall all see during NAB cup.

Hey Hazzathealmighty, just be on the look out for updates on Langdon. Something has happened to one of his knees just before the break and sounds a bit suspect. I would have him in my team as well but not now with his setback. I highly doubt that Clem Smith will get another look in so early to the Carlton team. Experts say that he doesn't have the tank. I feel like you are too strong in the midfield department and will lose one good scoring cash cow. I don't really rate Gibbs and downgrading him could help you strengthen both defence and forward lines. Just out of curiosity, what are your thoughts on Tom Bell? He is a decent POD but where does he sit in the Brisbane team? Rocky, Beams, Hanley, Zorko, Christiansen, Rich. He might be playing more a forward role early. I do realise that Redden has left.

Thanks junior wölf for that! I thought langdon was a gòd person ready to average 95+ is there another defender that you would maybe recomend that may brakeout in defence?

I currently have tom bell as a space filler and was playing around with my team trying to upgrade him to someone like dusty but i wasnt sure who to get rid of to do that. Im not sure how greene will go if he gets a tag which is why i currently have bell in the team over greene

Your completely right about last year but the years before he has struggled with hammy problems. He might have a similar year to last year. There has been a lot of talk about bird. However I would be seeing his performance in the nab before locking him in.

Happy New Year everyone!

Thought I would put this one out there that I quite like...

DEF: Shaw, Houli, Bartel, Rich, Brown, M., Byrne, (Brown, M., Hibberd)

MID: Pendlebury, Ablett, Shiel, Rockliff, Liberatore, Kennedy, B., Freeman, Mathieson (Jansen, Morabito, Keays)

RUC: Goldstein, Martin (Wyatt)

FWD: Montagna, Barlow, Harvey, Greene, Kerridge, Petracca (Sumner, Kommer)

A few thoughts:
Shaw over McVeigh as McV not having a full preseason, not sure about Rich/Yeo yet. Paying overs for Shaw but he was awesome last year, could do it again.

Shiel over Selwood. Selwood notorious slow starter has a foot problem. Shiel star in the making perhaps.

Picking the two best ruckman, set and forget.

Montagna is a class mid, starting him. Lids/Martin maybe. Harvey/Barlow cheap for a 100av. Greene X factor. No way Franklin.

Slainte!
