Mid priced duo vs chopstick samurai and F6 rookie

D.Thomas and C.Bird vs Dusty Martinez and Rookie

Case for the mid pricers: Both of these guys are mature bodied, 27-28 year olds that seem to both be clear best 22 and potential for high midfield rotations. I could almost see both becoming forward keepers, average ~95. Either way, both will make 100k if they arent keepers.

Case for Dusty and the kid: Dusty will (should) average between 98-105 and play +21 games, and will be a forward keeper. He is coming off his best season (and o***eason) to date. The rookie I have at F6 will slip to F7, and it will actually be F8 on the chopping block. I can normally see my F8 averaging about 50, and playing irregularly.

As long as you can get a decent rookie, definatly Martin and rookie.

Reason being with Martin and rookie, you only have one potential problem to deal with, but with Bird and Thomas, you could very well have 2.

Edit: If you see both Thomas and Bird averaging 95ish and playing 20+ (which given histories, I doubt) then they of course are the better option.

Agreed with Deeman, for me it's Dusty and a rookie for sure.
I have absolutely no interest in Thomas given his injury history and the fact he has hardly played in 2 years.
Bird I will have a sneaky look at and maybe if you find extra cash you might be able to turn a rookie into him, however that would be a decision made at the conclusion of the NAB Challenge. So all in all, Dusty and a rookie for mine comfortably, with Bird with a look depending NAB.

Thanks lads. What about ChopChop (Martin) vs Lids?

ChopChop for mine. I think they will average similarly, maybe Lids will average a little bit more but I would bank on more games played from ChopChop than Lids especially with Lids chronic achilles issue.

Agreed, Martin for me as long as he is not suspended.
As long as Martin retains his FWD eligibility, he's the 1st player lock for me in my forward line.
Like all the above I will be going Dusty over Lids. A bit cheaper, more likely to improve his average even further in my book and I reckon we can back him to play more matches. Lids will definitely be an upgrade target for me, as I didn't have him last year and I think it hurt me.

Probably Martin, but I am almost certainly starting both as long as neither of them get injured between now and round 1.

Bird + Leuenberger + Lobbe vs. Franklin + West + Lobbe vs. Bird + West + S. Martin?

Apologies if this one has been posted (I am getting lazy in my old age)...

Boyd V McVeigh.

Both absolute guns. Rock solid consistency. Boyd is 33 and McVeigh 30 (which surprised me). A real toss up for mine.

I'm going with McVeigh. I haven't even looked at Boyd yet as I think with his age he is likely to miss games.

Boyd was super last year - and his scores didn't dip as low as McVeigh's at times. 33 is really getting up there though. Doesn't seem to worry Boomer though!

Boyd had only one stint on the sidelines in six years ending in 2012, and has since had nine in three seasons. He became un-pickable for me once I saw that.

I'm looking closely at McVeigh as well. My only concern at the moment is that I seem to recall that he wasn't in full training just prior to X-mas and I'm wondering if there is some injury concern. I've looked but can't find any current reference to McVeighs fitness, so if anyone knows his current status, I'd love to hear it :)

Starting team trade-off:

Fyfe and Sandi vs. Selwood and Goldy

Would likely partner Martin in ruck and join Danger, Pendler, GAJ, Rocky and Libba in mids.

Very tough this one. Selwood and Goldy just. Could go either way.

My issue !
Goldy and Zorko V Stef Martin and Lids.

Stef Martin and Lids for me mate. I'm not sold on Zorko with a fit Rocky and Beams and Goldy is just so expensive.

Right now I am preferring to start with Lobbe and allow him to increase in price then hopefully turn him into Goldy once Goldy has decreased in price.

Yep, that's the way I'm thinking.
I'll be starting Lobbe at R2 also. Goldy should drop 80k or so while Lobbe should make 100k. Easy upgrade when the time is right.
Have a feeling we are going to finish up with very similar starting teams mate.
