Coming around to that thinking myself, between Hondo's term and Thanh's "Top 6". Also very tempted to drop Libba, which turns Selwood, Wines, Libba into Danger and Fyfe.
Having thoughts on the same lines Jaca.

It's a balance, right? If I start with GAJ, Pendles, Fyfe, Danger and Rocky, I have to find 3 in good form to fill mids. If I start with e.g. Wines and Libba, I have to hope they are 2 of the 3 that find good form.
Dropping Liberatore, Wines, Sloane and Boyd for Fyfe, Dangerfield, Corey Ellis and Simpson makes the side look a bit better.

Version 2:

DEF: McVeigh (M), Simpson, Bartel (M), B.Smith, M. Brown (F), N.Drummond (S. Collins, K,Collins)
MID: Pendles, GAJ, JPK, Rockliff, Libba, B.Crouch, Parish, Gore (Morabito, Lovell, Hiscox (F))
RUC: S.Martin, Lobbe (M.King (F))
FWD: D.Martin (M), Zorko (M), Barlow (M), Boomer, Wells, Petracca (Kerridge (M), MacDonald-Tipungwuti (D))

Few changes from Version 1:

- Fyfe out - until he proves fitness. Brought in JPK (super solid and rarely misses games).
- With that spare cash, upgraded N.Mal to Simpson. Now I have 3 old stayers. Looking for consistency from all of them.
- Brought Hiscox into the mids for M/F link.
- Whitecross swapped for K. Collins and Drummond in for Hartley (this one may change when teams are known for Round 1 + watching NAB form)
- Franklin out for Zorko...but now I'm not sure if the extra 90k is worth it initially. He's a pretty consistent scorer with less risk associated with him than Buddy...but would like to hear thoughts.
This is pretty much the closest team to my team so I like the thoughts.
+ Difference in rookies and I've added Wines in the mid.
+ I've also gone for Zerrett & Bird instead of Zorko & Boomer.
+ The forward line is the one that I'm most worried about.

Version 3. What do you think guys?

DEF: Boyd, McVeigh (M), Simpson, Bartel (M), M.Brown (F), S.Collins (K.Collins, M, Hartley)
MID: Pendles, Ablett, Hannebery, Rockliff, Libba, B.Crouch, Lovell, Gore (Morabito, Jansen, Hiscox (F))
RUC: S. Martin, Lobbe (M.King (F))
FWD: D. Martin (M), Dahlhaus (M), Barlow (M), Boomer, Wells (M)*, Kerridge (M), Kommer (Petracca (M), McDonald-Tippungwuti)

WarChest: $36,500

I've put KEEPERS in bold and underlined "potential keepers"

My * is Wells. Want to see how he goes in the NAB Cup. If he's fit I believe he can average at least 85 if not more. If he has a poor NAB he becomes a rookie basically = more in the WarChest :)
This is the most up-to-date team Tranterpants :) feel free to comment (goes for everyone) :p

On the flip side you've spent 450k turning Libba/Wines->Fyfe/Danger and you now have to hope your weakened forward/ruck/defence holds up.

Am liking the term 'list clogger', coined by Hondo I think.
The Wines type at that awkward price who doesn't reach expectations but you are stuck with.
Yeah, great term!

I don't agree that Wines is a list clogger, but just my personal view! :p

Fair point but, I've turned (maybe!), Libba/Wines and Selwood into Fyfe/Danger/Rookie, all other lines remain unchanged.

It's bloody typical that on the day Team Picker disappears I want to test some of the biggest changes in a month...

I see, I'm guessing you where going 6 deep in mids now down to 5?

I've found 5 deep (Libba) the best structure for me and haven't wavered.

I had the young Swan Mills in there, so may move him to Libba. and re-jig. Feel fairly settled in most areas, rucks still a bit of a concern mind.

History suggests that 13 to 14 keepers, a floating donut and cash cows is the ideal starting lineup. Everytime I do a team I end up with heaps of cash or 15 keepers without any midpricers.
Just wondering if the conditions this year lend themselves to having an extra keeper. With Ablett, Pendles, Rockliff and maybe Selwood if he plays round 1, we could get our captains under $630k where they normally would have been closer to $700k. Given that I have 3 or 4 captains to choose from I have the luxury of avoiding the highest priced player on each line. Fyfe is a good pick if fit? Shaw and Goldstein are way overpriced for their history and Deledio only has 1 year higher than he is priced at 4 years ago and Richmond have a tough draw.
The sub rule has been abolished so our cash cows have the potential to make more money and Essendon provide us with an expansion team scenario yet neither Gold Coast or GWS ever played without the sub rule.
Any thoughts?

Nice Précis Freo. I have a tendency to overthink.

What is, is how it is. Looking for holes, gaps that are not there is double guessing.

The gift horses are there, use them.
