Interesting one...

Laird + Bartel + Libba vs Shaw + Fyfe + Def rookie
Laird, Bartel & Libba the better option. Two, possibly three keepers while the other option has only a maximum of 2 keepers.

I also think Shaw and Fyfe are good upgrade targets due to Shaw's expensive starting price and Fyfe's injured back and interrupted pre-season.
To play devils advocate on this;
Option 1 could be viewed as 1, possibly 2or3 keepers, while
Option 2 has 2 definite keepers

I saw it mentioned on the forum today, in that we can nearly X vs. Y premium DEFs to premium FWDs.

So my question, what is everyone thoughts, have a D4 or and F4??

That is;

D4 premium + F4 rookie vs. D4 rookie + F4 premium :confused:

I think this will come down to the quality/quantity of available rookie options in Fwd/Def

Atm I don't like my premo D4 so would rather D4 rookie + F4 premo.

I'm not convinced of D4 or F4 at this stage. I would rather take a flyer in Defence than the Forward line.

Well that's where I am at at the moment. I feel more comfortable nailing my F4 correctly compared to a bit of a lottery at D4 it seems.

That's been my thinking of late...

Since I'm not taking any DEF over 500k, there isn't really 4 DEF over 400k that I REALLY want! I have 3 rookies who I believe will at least get regular games early on and hope to find a couple more during the NAB. If so, I will go with a 3-0-5 structure down back. This approach gives me a 470k player at F5.

With so much value to be had in the MID and FWD this year couple with the availability of Essendon rookies, I think 'cheap' is the way to go in DEF.

Simpson & Z Merrett v Smith & Dahlhaus
We know what we're going to get with Simpson and Dahlhaus, so the question becomes will Smith return to his AA year and will Merrett continue to rise to become SC relevant?

I think there's more upsides in Merrett than Smith and Adelaide has to tough opening fixtures, so I would go the Simpson & Z Merrett combination.

Keep one at most. For me Anderson is the most likely as he has remained in the system throughout his career. Simpkin was preparing for this season out of the system and Parish is having his first preseason, and it's a big step up. Personally I've got no $220K type players in my side. Refer to Mid-price Madness for explanation.

Buddy v Tippett?

Rucks are likely to be NicNat and Lobbe, if that matters.

Buddy clearly ahead on points in the first 10 rounds. Neither are likely to play all 22 games.

Both are likely to miss games - Bud hasn't played a full season since 2008 and Tippett since 2010.
Not as keen on Buddy as I might have been in the past and Tippett is R/F, which might be handy if you have a R/F on the ruck bench for covering donuts if Nic Nat or Lobbe miss a game (if Tippett doesn't miss at the same time). Never know quite what you get with these two...Tippett's R/F has me swayed towards him.

With Buddy, he's good for about half the season before his scores start dropping off and he starts missing games. So from past experience, start and stick with him or avoid him for the whole season if you don't want to be losing your mind. If lucky, you could use him as a stepping stone as such but the timing has to be right.
