No chance for me... Been burnt too many times.

Not a chance he plays close to a full season and quite often they manage to keep his injuries secret and he drops out at the last minute.

Another factor is the difference between his high and low games... meaning his price pings around all over the place.

If you are starting with him... be prepared to trade him out early.

Yep, absolutely no chance he comes anywhere near my team. Can't cope with his crap anymore. Just doesn't pull the big scores anymore and when he looks on he undoes it with undisciplined play. Looking forward to not having him in my team and having to put up with his enigmatic performances.

If he can survive til Byes, his bye round links really well with trading in a Premium from Round 13 bye round.
I think a couple of these mid priced "sideswap" options might be useful this year. Libba and Buddy/Merrett/Bird are ones I'm considering.

High risk manoeuvre I'm considering is starting Tippett in rucks and Franklin in forwards and trading Franklin to Goldstein after Buddy blitzes that early draw and Goldstein's price comes back to earth. Think i'm dreaming though.

In addition to his team keeping his injuries secret, he also seems unusually prone to the one week injury that ends up being three plus.

If I'm going to bear unusually high injury risk, I generally like it to be with someone who, when they get injured, does it properly and clearly needs to be traded.

If Buddy is fit and playing 22 - you won't get him much or in fact any cheaper than his starting price. You could do worse at that price

This Buddy dilemma epitomize the 'Risk v Reward' type selections.

At the end of the day it really depends on your overall structure, particularly in your forward line, and how many of these RvR selections you have.

As a couple have already alluded to in their comments, have REALISTIC expectations if you're going to start him, otherwise you'll be disappointed.

Contrary to past history, I have this gut feel that the Swans are going to come out firing for the start of this year and he could really explode if that eventuate.

Personally, he's my current F5 and has always been a part of my FWD setup for the year. Missed games aside...for the price and proven potential...I think the Rewards outweigh the Risks in this circumstance.

I locked him in from the start......... and pinned a trade to his spot at the same time.
I too have considered the possibility of a Tippett R2/Buddy to Goldstein gambit. It's tantalising!
I have little doubt he will miss enough games to frustrate anyone who plans to keep him the whole season, so that is why I have pinned a trade to him as well.
I like Jordan's approach, but I will put my own slant on it. Instead of trying to pluck his season average, I will guess he lights it up early, and will be averaging over 110 at some stage early in the season. If he hits a ridiculous price, I won't wait for signs of trouble, I will dump him while his price is good!

Batting deep in the forwards there - plenty of good or potetnially good sub $250k players in there but really need to see NAB form. I also think that there are too many unknowns in the Forwards competing for top 6 positions. Guys like Greene, Zorko, Bennell, Barlow, Wingard, Buddy, Montagna, Deledio, Martin, Dahlhaus are all potential top rankers. I'm going to watch forwards for a while I think

I'm going to stack my midfield big time this year I think, maybe down to Crouch at M7

Yeah I know but am happy with how the structure is panning out so that's just the way it has fallen...for now.

I'm going relatively 'cheap' in DEF with only 3 400k+ (none over 500k) and maybe one 'break out' pick. If I don't have confidence in the DEF rookies post NAB, then I'll sacrifice a FWD for a DEF player.

MID and RUC have been set for a while and don't see it changing unless something major happens.
