So many similiar teams this year, more than previous years thats for sure. Probably due to most teams having nearly identical mids and very few legitimate rookie options at this stage
Sure are! In previous years it can be like ...oh no what if I miss the ablett train....this year is oh no what if I miss the Fyfe, Danger, Pendles, Ablett, Rockliff, Libba freight train!

Which leads to the question are the majority right or are the majority wrong!

Luv it, would put Greene, Shiels, Bennell et el in there instead of Harvey, Buddy, Ablett. The 'girlfriends team'. How many of us have one running?

good call, might need to activate this asap!
Having suggested this, I take a bit of a backward step. We are not permitted to have more than one SC Team. User beware.

Think I'm going to use this depending on how Lonergan goes and what's said about him in the next 3 weeks. Midfield won't be touched until I do at least 1 upgrade in defense and forward (hopefully Shaw, Laird or Simpson and Deledio).

Premiums - Midpricers - Expensive rookies - Rookies
2-1-1-4
5-2-1-3
2-0-0-1
3-0-1-4

Have decided to go against Fyfe, don't want to spend that much on someone who wont play 22 games and clearly isn't completely over his back. Yes he is the contested king and will probably pump 130s, but I am happy to take the risk of not having him by my reasons from above.

Also Selwood who was $650k to start and proved a bad choice at that price. Even Pendles was down on earlier seasons.

I reckon an expensive mid strategy was a fail last year. Fyfe was the only exception IIRC?

Thoughts on my awfully deep midfield?

Prefer Wells & Parker to Mills & Buddy.

No faith in any premiums in FWD outside Martin & Barlow (Dahl & Deledio overpriced in my opinion)

Laird, Bartel, Birchall, Brown, Broad, Wagner (Brown, Hartley)
Pendles, Ablett, Sloane, Shiel, Rocky, Parker, Libba, Trengrove (Gresham, Gore, Menadue)
Goldie, Gawn, (Wyatt)
Martin, Barlow, Wells, Menzel, Petracca, Kerridge, (Grimley, Cockatoo)

Hi Saint_nick,

Its not your midfield that I have concerns for...

I personally think running Wells and Menzel at F3 and F4 is just asking for trouble. I would atleast try to get one more mid rookie and upgrade one of Wells/Menzel. I also dont really like the 3 starting budget rookies in defence, if some thing goes wrong, it could take a lot of trades to fix. I would probably go Parker/Shiel down and bring some more stablility into your forward and defence.

Pretty quiet on here in the last couple of days! I thought I would post my latest.

I've made a couple of premo tweaks, and have firmed up some of my rookies - which are not intended as placeholders.

Bartel, Simpson, Birchall, Smith, Brown (Ess), Hartley (K Collins, Broad)

Ablett, Pendles, Rocky, Danger, JPK, Libba, Mills, Gresham (Keays, Mathieson, Jansen)

NicNat, Tippett (M King)

Martin, Barlow, Boomer, Wells, McCarthy, Kerridge (AMT, Grimley)

$95k in cash.

As always, all thoughts welcome.

Hey Darkie, are your rucks stepping stones or keepers? If keepers, you're making a large wager on succesfully using the $ saved on Goldy and to lesser degree Stef to cover the line youll have by never holding them during the year. Not right or wrong, but bold!

I'd also turf K Collins or Broad for ATM, and try and find a fwd rookie instead of those two?

Hey crispy. Is one of those Browns the WCE Brown? Cancel that order, he's a spud and probably isnt 22 regardless.

Aside from that, I think faultless structure, apart from one q same as for Darkie - are those rucks keepers?

Welcome to the site Crispy. Your side looks quite good to me. A few observations/comments:

- Your defs are not that proven with the exception of Bartel, and one season from Laird. If you were to add a keeper to one line, I think I'd make it this one. Also, WC Brown has quite a long record of scoring poorly, and his game count is also poor, so there's a reasonable chance he won't make you much cash and will add to, rather than subtract from, any potential problems getting six defs on the park.

- Most of your mids look good. Armitage is a significant POD, but quite risky at his price in my view - he's priced well above what he's achieved every year other than 2015. I reckon I'd find the bit of extra cash to get Ablett, or downgrade him to raise cash to use elsewhere. It looks like you have chosen rookies that aren't just placeholders, although I gather Freeman is not currently fit, so I'd keep an eye on him. Mathieson from Brisbane could be an option for you.

- Your rucks are interesting, and I can see why they appeal. Grimley provides some ruck cover early on, so that's a plus.

- Your forwards look pretty good. I think you're overpaying for Deledio, and would prefer Martin, which would save you some cash for use elsewhere. I think Martin is also a lower injury risk, which could be important with the likes of Wells, Kommer and Pteracca also on this line, If you found one more rookie you liked, you could reduce one premium in this line to make room. Alternately, Petracca or even Wells could play mid for a while. I'm also not sure about Kommer - his role doesn't seem very SC friendly. McDonald-Tipingwuti could be a reasonable cheap alternative, with DPP.

Good luck!

Thanks for your thoughts Darkshines. Tippett is starting at R2, but is intended as a forward keeper who helps facilitate cover for my rucks (which boosts his value into the keeper range, even if he scores the same as in 2015). The plan is to swing him forward when I bring in my other keeper ruck, probably Goldy. Wells is a higher priced "rookie" with a good early draw, so I think Wells to Goldy is a reasonably likely trade at this point, and might mean I can get Goldy with a simple upgrade/downgrade (rather than using three trades, or using Goldy as a replacement for an injured premium elsewhere).

As for your suggestion on AMT, I think it's a good one, and something I've considered. I will do that if the def rookies don't show enough (which seems likely at the moment!). Who else do you like amongst the forward rookies?

Hi Darkie,

IMO I'm concerned with Birchall's role at this stage , with Suckling gone he could play a different role which could affect his scoring .
Mids are really good although is Fyfe not there because of money or your thought he was to expensive , he will be fit and rearing to go round 1 from all accounts , hard to leave out
Rucks big concern even though you explained Tippetts role , i think set and forget is a better way to go , and Forwards concern on Boomer and McCarthy , just think there are more flexible options out there , overall good structure and good luck for 2016.
