Thoughts on this team lads.
Gone for some solid keepers here (bar libba ) that will hopefully finish top 8 in there fields.
Count 13 keepers + libba and wells.
Will be interesting if libba doesn't show enough to be picked by round 1. Time will tell.

What do you guys think of this structure?

Shaw has been on my radar but its hard justifying 600k for a def can go shaw+smith to laird+houli but shaw looks as though he will be no1 def by a 1000miles
D: Solid line 4 deep dpp being a key factor
M: Prem central all the big guns are firing (ablett excluded)
R: 1&2 say no more
F: Seems to be where the rookies are at so going 2-1-5

this is my current structure other than diff prems (i have another $500k + mid instead of libba and cheaper def with no shaw)

like this team and has the exact structure that I'm currently running. Only our back keepers are different but I'm getting more temped by Shaw as he must be 85% chance to be the top def!!

Great team!

Thanks for your thoughts Darkshines. Tippett is starting at R2, but is intended as a forward keeper who helps facilitate cover for my rucks (which boosts his value into the keeper range, even if he scores the same as in 2015). The plan is to swing him forward when I bring in my other keeper ruck, probably Goldy. Wells is a higher priced "rookie" with a good early draw, so I think Wells to Goldy is a reasonably likely trade at this point, and might mean I can get Goldy with a simple upgrade/downgrade (rather than using three trades, or using Goldy as a replacement for an injured premium elsewhere).

As for your suggestion on AMT, I think it's a good one, and something I've considered. I will do that if the def rookies don't show enough (which seems likely at the moment!). Who else do you like amongst the forward rookies?
How silly of me to not notice the Tippett option (keep but not as R1). This is actually a decent plan.

Fwd rookies .. as it stands i have Milera and Kommer. Even though have negatives, point is I'd trust them for job/pts more that these Key Def rooks that are kicking around.

Very solid defence, perhaps too solid with four 500k+ premiums? There are much better rookies than Mitch Brown from West Coast. Michael Hartley from Essendon has good job security and has scored well in NAB.

Great looking midfield. Very cookie cutter but can't fault it bar a couple of rookies that might not get early games (Cuningham, Gore).

Nice rucks.

Nice forward line too, good depth with Wells at F4.

If Libba doesn't show enough to be picked by round one, you could easily downgrade one of your 500k defenders to a 350-380k breakout contender (Sheridan, Lonergan, Z. Williams) and make Libba into a Duncan/Viney type, or find some extra cash and get whoever.

Hard to fault Brettthejet. Great structure.

Only comment would be whether you need at least one $200 rookie in the mids such as Mills. Then you may need to drop Shaw to a $500k DEF to find the funds. Hard to do if you are set on Shaw. However if the rookie mids present themselves you are in good shape.

@ Brettthejett.

Very similar structure to mine mate.
Notice you've gone to the 2 keeper forward structure also. This does allow us to take advantage of some of the forward bargains, Hondo talked me into going light in the forward line.

My latest effort. getting closer but still not 100% happy.

H Shaw, R Laird, J Bartel, T Sheridan, M Brown, M Hartley.
(N Broad, K Collins.)

P Dangerfield, S Pendlebury, G Ablett, D Shiel, T Rockliff, T Liberatore, C Mills, J Gresham.
(C Petracca, R Mathieson, C Adamson.)

T Goldstein, M Gawn. (M King.)

D Martin, M Barlow, D Menzel, D Wells, B Kennedy, S Kerridge.
(S Grimley, A Tipungwuti.)

Sheridan is a gamble, 2 very solid NAB games with scores of 95 and 128. Ross could be messing with our heads though. Has he got a better role or is he this years Harry O. Think he's worth a punt.
Keen on Menzel. This lad has some serious talent. Fingers crossed he can avoid injury.

I actually think Sheridan is a rather sound selection. A few have mentioned that he scored well last NAB then went on to average just 65.1 for the season... well he averaged 51.7 across his first ten games of the season, then he had a role change and averaged 85.4 across his last nine games. At 22 years of age, he has plenty of upside. If he plays the same role for this whole season, I can see him averaging 90-95.

That's looking really good I reckon. Similar structure to mine and a lot of the same players with a couple of key differences from my attempts to fit Mills and Parish in. To me not having at least one of them is the potential hole I see in this side, as someone else said.

If you were forced to compromise on one high end guy to fit in Mills who would you pick? I've toyed with Fyfe out. Stef, Shaw, Dusty, Pendles ... cases could be made for $50-$100k less players for each one.

Holy CArp - Did that work? On a mac - I screen printed and then exportd from photos using smallest quality and middle size... Seems to have done the trick, right? I' guess I have no locks - Perhaps Martin, Barlow, Midfield from Couch up, and Bartel up. Rookies are still up in the air, but i note that looking back at the team reveals from Jock's top dogs last year saw them pretty much nail most of the rookies - maybe I just wait until the day before and take a squizz at their teams to get it right? I think I have some flexibility, in can downgrade or upgrade a few like Goldy, Mills, and Lonergan to adjust come lockout fever.

edit: sigh - I have butchered it ... lol - will be funny to look back on when I win this, right?

Hey guys any feed back appreciated. Have tried to sort out my perennial problem -the back line! With an almost set an forget arrangement. Have opted against goldy in the ruck as l think his price for a ruck is too much. Having said that I've got 160k left.

Backs Shaw, Laird, Simpson, Bartell, Sheridan, Weltering. (Collins, M. Brown)

Mids Danger, Pendbury, Ablett, Rockcliff, Libba, Mendue, Mathison,McPherson. (Gresham, Hamilton, Cunningham)

Rucks Martin, Smith (Cox)

Forwards Martin, Barlow, Stringer, Wells, McCarthy, AMT. ( Keough, Grimley)

Not too cookie cutter, but nothing too left field l hope.
All rookies are place holders at this stage, so one may become a Parrish or Mills type.
Thanks in advance.

Def: Houli, Laird, Enright, Brown, Tippa, K. Collins (Tucker, Hartley)

Mids: Fyfe, Pendles, Ablett, Danger, R. Gray, Rockliff, Libba, Parish (Mathieson, MacPherson, Dunkley)

Rucks: Goldy, Gawn (Grimley)

Fwd: Barlow, Greene, Wells, McCarthy, Menadue, Kerridge (Kommer, Adams)

$12, 500 left

Not many mid rookies have impressed me so i have decided to load up in the guts. Parish vs Mills - came down to the fact that I thought Parish will play more in the midfield than Mills. Gray as a POD, haven't seem him many teams and Port have a decent draw. 3 DEF premiums are likely to play 22 games and the DEF rookies in my mind, are more likely to get early games and generate cash than the MID rookies. Annoying that McVeigh isn't fit. Light up forward because I think the rookies are likely to play games .Gone for Greene over Billings - both risks but as keen as I am on Billings (is a SC star in the making), I'm not sure what he can do yet and the opportunity is there for Greene to become a premium. Kommer, if fit, will play a lot but I expect him to be a slow burner. Goldstein and Gawn - confident Goldy will still be the number 1 ruck so while I am playing overs, I don't mind. Gawn over Martin because I think he can take the next step next year and be a top 3 ruck.

Any feedback appreciated.

Hey Sam,
l like your team, only a couple of points.
I had Hurn last year and he was consistantly average or below.
Also Petrecca is unlikely to play before round 4 or 5 at the earliest, better to just keep an eye out for when he is named and buy him on the bubble if he turns out to be any good.
cheers

I don't mind this team

Personally would drop weitering to Hartley.

Smith to goldy

Stringer to Dahlhaus or Franklin or similar and you need kerridge in the fwds

Having a strong backline like that should be a pod move in itself.

If funds permit then upgrade a rookie mid to another premo.

Playing around with some options, I've come to a few conclusions:

- 5 premo mids for me (whether to include Libba or not still up for debate)
- I need more than 4 prems/keepers in defence, but not too many options i like
- Rucks set and forget
- Forwards, more options here than I thought, will probably put Buddy and Boomer back on the shelf for now.

Far from final, but this is where I am now. Ideally I play around with D5, M8 a bit allowing me to add a 4th Fordward keeper. Unsure just yet.

That's a slight variation on the 2-6 forward line with basically Greene taking up a spot in your mids that others are using on Pendles and then you've been able to not skimp in defence with the saved $200K. Plus you've got Mills and Parish,

Nice team and one that has got me thinking about mine ..
