Rucks would be the biggest benefactors I think. Leuey will quell that a bit, but I'm guessing we will see some pretty epic HTA numbers as the season drags on. You don't have to win every tap but if your mids dominate the stoppages your ruck should get a big boost too.

Your ruckman would still need to win the hitout to score even if his midfield is dominating.

Got a bit of the ball but butchered the footy and had zero impact on the game.

As an owner I hope he doesn't get dropped but a lot of Freo supporters certainly want him out of the team with a young player like Langdon to replace him. Lyon doesn't tend to do this though so he'll probably keep his place, but he'd want to improve pretty quickly.
I think you are jumping at shadows purely because he is in your supercoach team.

Mundy - 21 disposals @ 61.9%, 3 tackles
Nat Fyfe - 15 disposals @ 53.3%, 2 tackles
C Pearce - 28 disposals @ 60.7%, 1 tackle
Mayne - 10 disposals @ 60%, 0 tackles

Not sure why Barlow would be singled out. He's no worse than 5-10 other players on the day.

I agree, but obviously you are going to record some hitouts even if you lose the count. eg at the weekend Nicholls lost 24 to 32 but I guarantee Nicholls had more HTA than Leuenburger by virtue of the fact his midfield was better.

The dominant rucks with dominant midfields should have a field day particularly as the season drags on.

If it's any consolation Leuey won about 60% of his hit outs last weekend however he did not have much chemistry with those at his feet so many hit outs went nowhere or were sharked. Considering he hadn't played with any of his teammate before, not even in a Nab Challenge, I'd say there would be scope for his hit out to advantage over hit out to disadvantage ratio to be improved as the players get more familiar with each other.
True, however we will probably have to wait a while to find out. In the next six weeks he faces:

Gawn
Lobbe
Smith/Stanly
Witts/Grundy
Phillips/Kruezer
Sinclair/Tippett

Apart from Gawn, whose only really had half a season of form, he doesn't really face any established rucks significantly better than Nicholls until he meets Goldy in Rd 8.
Hmm good points - thanks Phil, was planning to leave it for a round 3 correction trade anyway as it looks like i've pretty much got the right rookies so i'll see where this weeks takes us - might be raving about him next week such is the beast that is Supercoach!

I agree that you shouldn't make a corrective trade this week, you should wait and see what the fallout from round 2 is and re assess at the price hike. I do think he will be a poor option up forward though. Think about how the rucks score their points.

- Hit outs
- Resting forward kicking goals
- Link up option through the middle
- Gathering their own ball at stoppages

If the bombers are without possession and are not pressing forward to kick goals, that's two categories he is going to score poorly in. So he's either winning the tap, or finding his own ball. The problem with that is, who is he tapping it to? Sharked hitouts are -1 point, so if his supporting midfield is poor it is actually WORSE for him to win the majority of the taps.

Just my $0.02... Not trying to poo poo your selection, just trying to be helpful :)

I think if you started Berger you have to give him another chance!

No I'm not. I would only be slightly annoyed if Barlow got dropped, because 90% of the users of this site will be in the same boat as me. I've just read the opinions of Fremantle supporters and a lot of them want him out of the team this week, replaced by a younger guy like Blakley or Langdon. Now ultimately it is up to the coaches to decide the team and Lyon usually sticks with experience over youth, but to think he is completely safe in the side I think is overrating Barlow as a player. Even Mayne this week said no one is safe in the team when they play like that.

Fyfe, Mundy and Neale are all now ahead of Barlow as inside mids and he isn't good enough to play in any other position. He'd want to play well this week. Barlow even said in a radio interview today that he worries every week that he'll lose his spot.

Completely agree. If you have Leunburger, do yourself a favour and trade him out now.
