Not sure what to make of Mckernan out. Bird has been pretty underwhelming I suppose. Simpkin wasn't bad. Maybe Brown goes forward.
I guess we'll need Kommer's forward pressure, Hartley extra tall in defence - I suppose I've sort of answered the question.
Mainly McKernan confuses me. He didn't have a great game on the weekend, but he's being played out of position. He's not a ruck, and we need all the forward grunt we can get. Adds more credence to the idea that Brown will go forward (not great for his scoring potential.)
Thinking Cooney is pretty lucky to escape the chop.
I guess as Essendon supporters we should expect it this year.
As supercoachers, the rest of you should take note. It's going to be all over the shop. Half these guys haven't had a proper pre-season, and half the team haven't ever played together.
The irony is, we'll get better as the season goes on, but the amount of kids we play will mean we can't run out games, so we'll still lose. Actually, that's not irony in anything but an Alanis Morrisette fashion* - it's just what's going to happen.
*some of things she sings about in that song are actually, by definition, ironic.
