Decision day is here! To include Dustin Martin or not include Dustin Martin?

Personally for most of the summer I have been more undecisive and nervous about which side of the fence to jump to than when Eddie finds out a major player scandal is about to break and he doesn't yet know if a Collingwood player is involved or not.

I originally selected Watch, but now it's an unlikely. Could afford both of Zorko and Bartel, so I went with it. ;)

It is Martin or Robbo for me - I like the DPP. Have gone with Martin because, well, because Robbo is a bit of a tool.

Yep, definitely nervy about Dusty though, he needs to breakout this year or I think he might fall apart - his character just seems a bit flakey.

Yup, I don't know that this is the year for Martin though. I keep thinking that JRoo will have his BREAKOUT this Season, but I just can't pick him. :p

Locked and Loaded for me. Obviously risky but if he can become more consistent and run out matches better there is no reason why he cannot go 110+ this season.

I am hoping for that sort of outcome anyway.:p

The good thing about Martin is he only needs to repeat his 2011 season to be a good pick (22 games @ 98.9) while he can definitely go higher.

Between Martin and Bartel for me for F3, got the cash to comfortably fit Bartel in and reckon with Johnson out for 3 to 4 and Bartel over his foot injuries from last season, might just play it safe and spend a bit more on Bartel.

That's what I've been thinking.

However, if I go with Martin, I can have Maric in the Ruck. So ultimately, I'm deciding on Bartel&Roughead OR Martin&Maric.

Tough situation for me.

WOW! Thanks for posting that. That is actually quite inspirational, and a lot of reasons to pick him...
Thanks for the link, yeah agree with Damoz/Zontafer. Great article and I really hope he becomes not only a SC star but a star of the AFL. Nothing better than a Dustin Martin fend-off.

* Actually maybe there is, a Tex Walker don't argue.:p

Maric imo is the better option in the ruck, specifically with Bailey now available for the Hawks I don't think Roughead will be doing much ruckwork. Bartel vs Martin is a toss up really, aging star whose been more of a mr. fix it type over the past few seasons playing various roles not particularly conducive to premium level scoring. With his new M/F classification however and a recent history of foot problems behind him, he should at least maintain his average of last season and therefore be SC relevant. Martin gives you value with the implied risk. Weighing it all up, would be going the Richmond option.

As long as Hale is fit he will be number 1 ruck and Roughie will cameo a lot in the ruck which worked so well last year. Bailey will only be brought in if Hale down, which is a possibility if course.

Hope this helps.

Goodie, you can still call me Damoz....

The Article inspired me so much, that my "Unlikely" has now become a "Lock" on Martin. ;)

One half wonder yet again. Did get a few late kicks but gee he is annoying to watch in 2nd halves.

Also only went at 47.6% DE from 21 possessions. Will take an 85 from those stats and back him in to improve as the year progresses.

We've seen what he can do, an average of 108.83 from the first 12 games in only his second season including scores of 168 and 155 indicate a player that can go big when he can produce for a sustained period during a match.

There were a few times when he was in a good scoring position too but whoever had the ball didn't use him. Could've had a few more goals I reckon.

Tiges have an 8 day break before playing St Kilda, who have 6, then a 9 day break before playing the Dogs, who have 8. If he can't show me consistency in those two games and average 90+ I think I might have to let him go before they play Collingwood, Freo (in Perth) and Geelong. If he really stinks it up against the Saints he's gawn.

I think he'll probably get shown a replay of those late touches because that awareness or lack of are not how you play at the top level. Just lacked composure and confidence which funnily enough he exudes.

As angryant said 85 is not bad all things considered but when he goes big that's when we'll reap the benefits.
