I've started having these fantasy football related dreams too...

I was planning on trading in Ruggles in RDT this week for Mills and playing him on field. I dreamt he was on 30 at QT but then went on to do an injury to miss the season. Hope it doesn't come true but makes me nervous about doing the trade in DT!

It's a really worrying sign for Freo considering they are now in the same group as Ess and Carlton!

Hi all,

A few weeks ago, I saw a SCS member make reference to Fox Sports subscribers being able to access Live SC Scores via SuperFooty Live HQ. However, I can’t for the life of me find the posts on SCS!

My Fox Sports login details keep drawing blanks and essentially re-load the login page. I remember the initial post making reference to there being a trick or particular way to get access with a Fox Sports account.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Many thanks.

I connected mine over a year ago so forget exactly how I did it but I remember that you had to have the same email adress for your foxsports website login as your foxtel TV account.

Also I go to the match centre via foxspirts website, not via the HS site.

Here's the thread link. Works a treat, Bens Beasts provided it. Might prove a bit fiddly if you have a different foxtel email to your herald sun email but I figured out some work arounds and I'm not overly savvy. Happy to help if u get stuck.

Excellent, thanks very much for your help Philzsay and Dicksilverman. Fingers crossed I can make it work!

Interesting CD article about turnovers.

ROSS Lyon threw his pen in disgust and Nathan Buckley thumped the desk.

Damien Hardwick ran his hands through his hair.

The frustration for all three was immense and the problem was the same.

Defensive half turnovers or ‘giveaways’, as Hardwick described it on Sunday, is what threatens to destroy their finals hopes.

We know power forwards are seen as the kings in the AFL, but if there is a type of player that is rising with a bullet in club land, it’s the pinpoint kicking half back.

It’s why Alastair Clarkson has sent onballer Sam Mitchell into defence for years and why Buckley is doing the same, despite plenty of external objection, with inspirational skipper Scott Pendlebury.

Quietly, Melbourne coach Paul Roos has also moved one of his best ball-winners, Berne Vince, into the same half-back role.

The Pies need Pendlebury’s class, desperately, to cut through the searing forward half pressure that has risen sharply again this year.

According to Champion Data, the number of forward half turnovers created per game has jumped from an average 20.8 last year to 23.5 this season.

Scores from those turnovers has also leapt from 26.6 to 31.1 per game.

Navigating that forward line inferno safely has become arguably the most important, and perhaps challenging, part of the game, hence the Pendelbury move.

The Hawks have been masters at this for years and it’s one of the key drivers behind the Western Bulldogs’ transformation under Clarkson protégé Luke Beveridge.

Shaun Grigg hasn’t used the ball well this season. Picture: Colleen Petch
The Dogs have conceded the least number of back-half turnovers in the AFL this year, validating the perception they have some of the most lethal back line ball-users.

Think Matthew Suckling, Lachie Hunter, Jason Johannisen and Rob Murphy, bless him.

Grant Birchall, Josh Gibson and Luke Hodge are the rudders at the Hawks. They are all beautiful ball-users and young speedster Brad Hill has flourished in the Hawthorn kicking program, with the tutelage of biomechanist David Rath.

Even Carlton, under another Clarkson product Brendon Bolton, has improved here this year.

In contrast, Collingwood, Richmond and Fremantle have all butchered the ball at times out of defence early this season and the numbers are undeniably bad.

Fremantle has coughed up the most defensive half turnovers in the first three games.

Lyon said on Saturday night it was as bad as he has ever seen it in the west.

Collingwood has made the second most errors, here. Gun defender Matthew Scharenberg was recruited specifically with all of this in mind but two devastating knee reconstructions has seriously dented Collingwood’s planning. He was meant to be the go-to man back there.

Clinton Young, another half back — wing, came and went from the Hawks.

No.7 draft pick James Aish was considered a damaging ball-carrier in his junior days and first year at Brisbane but his average kick rating in defence is the worst in the AFL.

Teammate Levi Greenwood, another Collingwood recruit, is third-worst in the AFL.

The Western Bulldogs rarely turn the ball over in their defensive half. Picture: George Salpigtidis
Cellar dwellers Essendon and Brisbane are next before Richmond, although there is some upside at Punt Rd.

Ex-Blue Chris Yarran, who was rated the 10th best kick in the back half in the competition since the start of last year, was brought in specifically to help polish the Tigers’ ball movement.

But has been sidelined with a calf injury and more recently, foot surgery.

Superstar Brett Deledio is still struggling to shrug a quad problem and is weeks away, while Reece Conca has gone down with another hamstring setback.

Together, they will make a big difference for Hardwick upon their return.

The coach acknowledged the problem on Sunday, although 11 of the giveaways against Adelaide, were by hand, he said.

“When we do maintain the ball we are OK, but every now and then we have a couple of crucial turnovers, which really hurt us,” Hardwick said.

From Fantasy Freako's Rave Round 3. Stats you can't get anywhere else! Players who spend the most time on ground on average before having a break.

MARATHON MEN
After looking at the time on ground differentials from
2015 compared to this season in the opening rave of
the season, this week I have decided to take a closer
look at which midfielders spend the most time on the
ground before earning a breather.
The drop in interchange numbers has no doubt assisted
the elite runners in the game and if we look at the
100 midfielders in the competition that have played in
every game to date, Sam Gibson comes out on top,
spending an average of 21:21 minutes on the ground
per stint. He isn’t a viable fantasy option however, as he
can be used in a defensive role when needed.
Ranking second behind Gibson is Tom Scully. His
endurance has always been a major trait and he finally
looks like breaking out this season in what is his seventh
in the AFL. His rise has been a gradual one, averaging
73, 74, 77, 84 and now 119 points since arriving at
the Giants in 2012. He has taken his game to new
heights in 2016, averaging 29 disposals, 22 uncontested
possessions, seven marks and four tackles – ranking
No.1 at the club for both disposals and uncontested
possessions.
When comparing Scully to other midfielders in the
competition, his points per game is higher than Gary
Ablett, Robbie Gray and Patrick Dangerfield. The next
question is; do we pick him based on these numbers?
He no doubt presents himself as a point of difference,
but in saying that it may be a little early in the season
to select a player that is unproven, especially with the
likes of Dan Hannebery and Scott Pendlebury both
tumbling in price around him.
Looking at some other fantasy relevant midfielders
that rank high for time spent on the ground per stint,
Sam Mitchell, Adam Treloar and Andrew Gaff all feature
in the table below. Of the entire group, half improved
their fantasy output compared to last season, while
seven have recorded a drop, with Jack Redden’s fall of
28 points the largest.
Here's the table

Hey guys just wondering,

Some people seem to target a particular round, usually around bye periods where they could potentially top score and win $1000 (there is some team called round 15 = $1000)

Other than just picking the best players that don't have byes in a particular round. Would there be a way to try and maximise your score in a particular round in a planned fashion?

Cheers for any info

I think the main thing would be to pick players with a huge ceiling. You would always need a couple or more huge scores to win a weekly, so someone like JJK could be very valuable, even though you wouldn't normally pick him in SC (his average is not amazing, but he could get you a 180, potentislly as vice captain or captain).

You could also take a risk on some more mid-priced players, so long as hey provide good value for their price, and should probably focus on those playing either a weak opponent or those they play well against, and at home. I wouldn't leave a lot of cash on the bench either, and I'd make sure I had at least a couple of floating donuts.

It would be worth checking that you would be eligible for the prize, if you're going to try for it. I gather people based o***hore, and (critically!) potentially even those with more than one team may be ineligible.

Surely this would mean Heppell is done at the Bombers?

ESSENDON'S captain-in-waiting Dyson Heppell is about to launch an unprecedented legal claim against his club for more than $1 million in compensation stemming from the WADA suspension.

The claim is multi-layered and will cover loss of earnings related to his playing contract and impact of reputational damage. It is believed Heppell will also seek redress for loss of private sponsorships.

Heppell's claim will be the biggest faced by Essendon, which is bracing for 33 other compensation requests from the banned players.

The Bombers believe they are equipped to deal with players suing them and playing for them at the same time, though they are extremely nervous about the actions involving Heppell and key defender Michael Hurley.

Hurley is attracting significant interest from other clubs. Should the 25-year-old choose to stay with Essendon it is likely he will seek to sign a fresh contract in the vicinity of $1 million per year - a figure that would be available to him from rivals.

My initial take on this is that it is a clever way for the players to get paid. May even be part of an overall strategy  (pure speculation on my part)

Only seen and heard about headlines of Port playing a premiership points game in China but not giving up a home game from Adelaide to do it.
Can anyone explain how this is happening?
Sounds really odd to have signed some contract without being a game they are considered "host".
When would it be played too? Maybe in a bye round later in a season

St.Kilda playing a few Anzac Day games in New Zealand which is closer than Perth for most clubs is one thing.
Playing a season game in China is something else.
