2155 with Merrett and tippa to come, hoping for 2350 which appears well above par. To score so well after banking 500k this week is great but the bigger bonus is my upgrade targets of Fyfe, dusty, houli, Wingard, Rance & gray all scoring poorly. Thinking of doing another double downgrade, only problem being who to bring in. Benken, menadue and brown possible trade outs. Any suggestions? Pettracca maybe?

I just had a look at your team Hawks - I'm assuming that's the right one linked. The rookies on the bubble this week won't be as good as those for the week just gone, in my view, and I think four downgrades in a row is probably too much anyway! If I had your team, I would be prioritising (1) getting my preferred R2, and/or (2) correcting any other mid-priced picks that I was not happy to back in for the duration. It looks to me like your team could be rookie-free earlier than most, but potentially not have the scoring power of some other sides once they reach completion, so I'd be aiming for the very top end scorers - whoever you think they might be. Good luck.

My first two trades of the season, hindsight is a wonderful thing

Round 3 Barlow out Johannisen in
Round 4 Rockliff out Fyfe in
Had Barlow traded out all week and last minute took a few deep breathes and realised I need to set myself up for the long haul (as much as those Heritier "The Prince - Praise Be Unto Him" Lumumba nightmares haunt me). So reversed trades and culled a rookie instead.

The result: finally a decent score from Barlow and a 103 from DBJ.

I'm calling this a successful week trade-wise :) I've also done a lot more single trades this year than last which is looking to pay off so far.

Thankfully kept Barlow and took Goldy's VC loophole instead of rolling the dice on Fyfe.

2048/20 +C

Pendles and Tippa to play, would love to hit 2300 but will more likely scrap 2200.

I'll take a 125 from Goldy every day.
Yep, Fyfe could drop a 140, but he could ping a hammy in the 1st quarter also.
(Oh, I don't mean to put the mozz on Fyfe, just using it as an example.)
The scary part about this is that I was going to write, fracture his leg, then changed it to, ping his hammy.
Sincere apologies for the mozz on Nat and to all Fyfe owners.

Is a great lesson for future VC / C selections though, looks as though going with Goldy will get me over the line in a few of my league match ups.

Re FYFE captain (A classic example of overall v league)

I've read through the numerous commentaries on the pros and cons of banking a safe Goldy 125 versus taking a punt on Fyfe. You all make very compelling and sensible arguments and I don't disagree with most of them, and under 'normal' circumstances I would bank Goldy's score without even thinking twice.

The only comment which was a bit misleading was the perceived notion that these coaches were being 'greedy' and chasing more points.

Everyone's situation is different from week to week as there are 'important' league matches that we're all involved in. With Fyfe playing the 3rd last game of the round, it gave many coaches sufficient information on how they were tracking against their opponents and whether to 'risk' a Fyfe captain in an effort to try and win their matchup. I was in this position and most of my opponents had already locked in either Danger or Goldy as their captain. If I had taken Goldy's score as captain, it would of guaranteed a loss in ALL those close matchups (the margins in them were all less than 9 points). The only way to give my team an opportunity to win was to chance my arm on Fyfe which I did. Yes, it turned out to be the bad choice from a 'total points' perspective BUT not a wrong choice from a 'league' perspective. Had Fyfe not been injured, I was pretty certain that he would've scored 130+ points which would have won me all my close league matches.

For me, it wasn't about being 'greedy' and chasing more points but rather giving myself an opportunity to win league matches.

Same 'logic' I used for my last minute substitution of my POD Corey Ellis in lieu of Ben Kennedy, who me and my opponent were both playing. It was a long shot, requiring of some divine intervention to work, but if it's all you have left in the armoury when facing a certain even if narrow defeat, well you either take the long shot or raise the white flag before the round is even over... oh unsurprisingly, a big fail for me .

Max Gawn with a lazy 18 hitouts to advantage last night. Ridiculous.
How many were in the second half i counted around 4 in the 3rd quarter and an intercept mark and mark and kick into forward 50 and his score only went up around 10 points in that time anyone else notice this

You love an essay, THCLT!
LOL...You haven't seen nothing yet.

I like to convey my thoughts in a clear and concise manner, albeit sometime in a long winded manner but the main message needs to come through:p

1961 with Pendles, Zerrett and Tippa to go. Might scrape together 2200.

Pendles and Zerrett have to make up 160 odd for me to beat jaca in two leagues.

Don't think it's the right team linked as I'm happy with goldy and Gawn ruck combo. I'll check it out. Thanks

2207 with Tippa to go. Got the Fyfe issue to deal with. Also need to generate some more cash. Might be time to start culling rookies a little early.

Well, this round is sucky.

VC choice, lets see - Danger = nah, Goldy = nah, Ablett = YES! = bad :(
C choice - Fyfe = YES! = BAD

Stuffed up by not putting the E on Mills in the mids and therefore having the choice between him and McGov - lost 21 points - more irritated by that than anything else that has happened, as I had control over that choice.

Well, if nothing else, the good was - DBJ on field, Kerridge on field, Papley still in team, Barlow still in team! :D

Bartel and Lonergan are issues. Have traded Rocky out injured, JJ out injured and now looking like Fyfe out injured - at least I get some cash generation out of them if the trades are done right. Crisitunity?

19/1855 (C played), still with Pendles, ZMerrett and Tippa to play today.

Multiple choice pop quiz -
Q: Who is more stuffed?
Select 1: Hardwick, Lyon, or Bucks (if Pies lose today)???

Sitting on 1997 with Treloar, Zaha to come. Can take McCarthys 79 or run the gauntlet with Tippa.

All league games have Tippa on field, but thinking I will take the 79. Tippa could go big against the Pies, across half back but I'll probably only be down 20 points in the case he tons up

Ordinarily i'd say take the 79, but i'm sat on 2120, 79 would be cruel :p
