Damn, the leader at the moment has a fair team! No idea on who is on his bench of course.

B: Adams, Laird, Shaw, Marchbank, Otten, Hampton
M: Danger, Bont, Treloar, Fyfe, TMitch, Kelly, Murph, Beams
R: Sandi, Witts
F: Nank, Dahl, Buddy, Steele, Butler, Houston
They must be so disappointed with Treloar.
Premiums aside it is so well set up given where the rookies have fallen.

Just reminder to everyone given we are (almost) half way to round 9 that even though two teams have the bye in round 9 the scoring will NOT be best 18, scoring as normal in round 9.

The following article demonstrates to me what is wrong with umpiring in the AFL. The sole focus each week should be to umpire the game fairly and consistently across the season, not focusing on different specific areas or rules from week to week!

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2017-04-12/most-clubs-not-accessing-umpire-training-intel

ONLY half a dozen clubs choose to access information umpires make available to them each week that shows what they are focusing on at training.

The 'coaches' notes' provide the rules and interpretations umpires will emphasise at training during the week.

They also include footage providing examples of the areas being focused upon.

Last week in the lead-up to round three, clubs who wanted to receive the notes would have been aware that the umpires were concentrating on how 'prior opportunity' was being interpreted in the first two rounds.

The umpires first made the information available during the middle of last season at the height of the 'rule of the week' debate.

However AFL.com.au understands many clubs decided not to place themselves on the mailing list, deeming it unnecessary to their planning and preparation for games.

On Tuesday, AFL football operations boss Simon Lethlean revealed on SEN that last week's coaches' notes showed the umpires planned to focus at training on how 'prior opportunity' was being applied after football operations discussed the issue after round two.

"The coaching notes are made available to every club that wants them for the week ahead as to what has been the focus," Lethlean said.

"There was certainly a focus on potentially the fact [prior opportunity] had been quite hot in the first couple of weeks."

AFL.com.au understands this week's coaches' notes for umpires include re-emphasising holding the ball interpretations, a look at the deliberate out of bounds rule and a focus on support free kicks, which are free kicks awarded by the non-controlling umpire.

Agreed Philz$ay. Whichever one of the Scott brothers is on AFL360 on Monday basically said it's better to be playing later in the weekend so you have an idea on that weeks umpiring focus/interpretations.
That's a bloody ridiculous situation.

I'd say it was the one that's not getting the emails from the umpires! :p

Quick Question

Is there any way to extract data from Herald Sun Supercoach Website.

Reasoning is: group of friends playing draft league and we want to work out who has the best picks of the draft by points compared to draft position so far after 3 rounds.

I managed to get the draft order into excel and was going to use a lookup function provided I can get all players data into an excel doc and go from there but I cannot seem to get all information into excel from HS website.

Thanks in advance.

On the team page there is an option to select 'draft recap' that will show you everyone's pre rd1 team and picks in order. Hope this helps with what you're after

If you just want scores for each player you can get them from footywire.com with a relatively straight forward cut and paste.

http://m.afl.com.au/news/2017-04-17/the-third-man-up-farce-scott-lashes-nominating

Is it actually a rule that a free against will be paid if 2 players nominate from same team?

Umpires have said this was the correct call because Dunkley nominated first, but are they missing the point that 2 players nominated?
"This is a really dangerous thing to do because I haven't thought it through, but … isn't it just the outcome you're looking for? You don't want a 'third man up'? So shouldn't you just say 'We don't care who goes, but if two of your team go, it's a free kick'," Scott said.

"He's got to then make a call on 'Gee, I'm not sure who the ruckman was. I'm not sure whether you're a midfielder who got blocked or whether you're a ruckman who got blocked'," Richardson said.

I agree with Chris Scott. The point Alan Richardson makes I think is a general problem with the umpiring. Does it matter if you are blocking a midfielder or a ruckmen? My basic understanding of the rules is that you play the ball or the man with the ball or you shepherd. Shepherding is the act of placing your body in a position that means the opponent has to change direction. Like basketball but allowing body contact without penalty. As soon as you grab the opponent with your hands it is a free kick. Josh Dunkley nominates as the ruckmen but then positions himself behind the rover and then runs into the rover and claims interference. Andrew Swallow is entitled to hold his position. If Dunkley had tried to run around Swallow and Swallow had grabbed him then it is a holding free kick regardless of whether he is the ruckmen or not. The umpires have unwittingly made it their problem. They need to put it back onto the players. One player from each team can contest the ball up or throw in. It is up to the team to make sure a player is in position to contest the ruck. It is not the opponents responsibility to make sure the opposition can contest the ruck.

For Database Gurus - Player Positions 2009-2017

Does anyone know how I could get hold of an excel file that lists 1)AFL Supercoach Player Name 2) Year 3) Position (including DPP's) for the years 2009-2017? In this format:

Player Name Year Position
Joel Selwood 2015 MID
Daniel Menzel 2017 FWD

etc., etc.,

Footy & Sports Memorabilia - What have you got? Pics welcome!

Been in the new place for a while and have a spare room screaming to be turned into a man cave/ poker room/ quiet room for the old man (yeah right!).

What's everyone got in terms of footy and sports memorabilia?

Edit: this really should be in the general forum so will move it later.

Great Thread! Man caves are the best.

We just sold our house and are renting, but high on the priority list for the new one is a spot away from the wife and kids I can make my own. When we move in, I will be proudly displaying the trophy I 'won' after getting 5 consecutive ducks in U17 cricket.

However the best piece of memorabilia I have personally laid eyes on is in my Cousins house. My Grandad was Curator of the WACA (bit of a write up here if you are bored https://www.theguardian.com/sport/b...round-a-test-track-that-was-a-highway-to-hell) for 30 odd years until around 1980.

He actually received a personal letter from Don Bradman in the 60's or 70's sometime (when Bradman was retired) thanking my grandad for his contribution to the game and how great the WACA pitch was. My cousin was bequeathed this on his passing and she hangs it with great pride in the man cave. Ok shes not a man but its in the pool room you get the idea.

Good luck fitting out yours Mr IDIG and look forward to what else makes this thread.

Anyone wanting to watch the footy, talk SC and play CoachKings all at the same time, head on down to the Notting Hill Hotel tomorrow night if you're in the area.

In venue prizes, and this round is your last chance to qualify teams for the first $10k Quarter Final held next week. :)

Just wondering, has anyone got this years Herald Sun Uni student digital offer? Does it have SC Gold included this year?

In the past I know it has, but can't work out of its included with this years offer from what I've read.

When I arrived in Denmark, I was 3 years off being able to become a permanent resident (I want to keep my Australian Citizenship!).

....... 6 years and 9 months later, I am 3 years off becoming a permanent resident!
