Initial thoughts:
- Keepers (for this team) at this stage look like:

Def: Laird, M.Williams, Newman, Vince = need 2 defs and upgrades
Mid: Dangerfield, Bontempelli, Ward, Beams*, SPP = need 4/5 mids and upgrades
Ruck: Goldy, Gawn (Pruess) = ok, can downgrade Preuss to make cash
Fwd: Dahlhaus, Greene, Betts, Watts, Stringer = 1 + upgrades

- Generate a bit more cash
- I would go a bit leftfield and hope to do well on big scores.

How about:
- Beams and Stewart to Gray and Witherden (leaves 471 into R16)
- Barrett and Preuss to Deluca and Strndica (leaves 869 into R17)
- SPS + 300 = Neale, Langford + 300 = Zerrett (leaves (269 into R18)
- Hampton + 75 = JJ, SPP + 100 = Selwood (leaves 90 into R19) and

D: Laird, Vince, JJ, Newman, Williams, Marchmark (Mcgrath, Witherden)
M: Dangerfield, Bontempelli, Ward, Gray, Neale, Zerrett, Selwood, Deluca (Fox, Florent, Pickett)
R: Gawn, Goldy (Strn)
F: Dahlhaus, Greene, Betts, Watts, Stringer, Butler (McCarthy, Eddy)

I would then go 1-up 1-down on Marchbank/Mcgrath/Mccarthy/Butler/Florent to get the last few pieces into the team.
I don't mind this approach but would leave Beams in the side assuming he might get back in 4 weeks and downgrade a Hampton/McGrath/Marchbank this week instead.

Makes sense too, I just thought you could "slingshot" beams and bring him in cheaply near the end if you wanted anyhow.

It was post round 14 in 2015 that I had what I consider my greatest achievement in Fantasy Football.
Supercoach - ranked 10th overall
AFL Fantasy - ranked 4th overall
Real Dream Team - ranked 6th overall
Ahh the glory days! Has been all downhill since!

Ooh, this could be interesting!

A few thoughts:

- There are more trades left than week to use them, so I'd use every trade from here, first for immediate upgrades/downgrades, and then for sideways trades if there are no superior options.
- Cash generation is going to be an issue with the second wave of rookies missed, and few good ones still to come.
- There's a decent base there with the following players I'd be quite happy to keep ... Laird, Newman, Danger, Bont, Ward, Goldy, Gawn, Dahl and Greene, and a few you would be okay with.
- First priority for me would be culling mature cows or maxed out mid pricers to get some of that cash reinvested, preferably in some top end but discounted names. Fortunately Lloyd, Selwood, Zorko and others fit these criteria. JJK and Beams himself may as well in the coming weeks (I'd likely keep Beams).
- Second would be cutting anyone who is not playing and who you wouldn't want in round 23 (Hampton? I stopped thinking about him not long after I culled him )
- This week I'd probably cull Marchbank and SPS, who both have high breakevens and are mature cows. I'd get Lloyd first, perhaps a decent rookie if you can find one this week (Beech??), and bank cash to use next week and the following on Zorko, Selwood etc. If there's no decent rookie on the bubble, then maybe an FD, or more likely going early on someone like Witherden who looks good.
- I'd suggest waiting on top end talent like Doch to get cheaper, or make them a later upgrade, given cash will be an issue. I'd be prioritising number of upgrades, rather than magnitude of upgrades, at this stage, so long as you're still getting top 10 or so type players.

It would be interesting to see how much ground could be made up with this team, good luck!
All makes sense, I think Beams is a hold now, he should come back at some point, maybe make the most of cash generation this week then upgrade next week? So Barrett to Callum Brown (if selected) and Hampton to Witherden. Would give about $650k to spend next week.

An article explaining just how good Ablett Jnr from 2010 till his shoulder injury in 2014. His worst 40 games were rated to be better than the best 40 games of the next best player.

He is an absolute freak and it has been a pleasure to watch him over the last 10 years. From 2007-2014 he was, in my view, the absolute standout player of the competition in terms of quality and consistency and he still reminds us now and then just what a high caliber player he is.
Congrats on 300!

We've been very privileged to be alive while Gaz was at the peak of his powers. I reckon In 100 years they'll still be talking about him. Hands down the most damaging player to ever pull on the boots. Hopefully goes home to the cats for another flag.

Also on 4, didn't trade round 15, could comfortably use 2 this round and probably should for overall team improvement, but really feel I need to resist the urge to go down to two trades 7 rounds from home

How likely is this move to happen? I know he'd love to go...

I'm close. I missed the decent rookies in R1 so decided to be aggressive to correct. I've considered keeping Witts as a keeper, but I think the sensible play is to turn him into Gawn... Though Gawn's upcoming run of ruck contests worries me a tad!

3 currently for me, will definitely be down to only 2 after this weekend, could possibly be down to only one trade if I also pull the trigger on my Gawn trade.

Put it this way, if I'm not the founder of 'The 2017 No Trades Club' this year, I'll certainly be one of the first paid-up members.

We as a team need to pull our socks up! I just checked out the group and our highest placed member in that is 172nd.

Who's got the hair dryer?

Leagues aren't doing well either. Funny year. I'm guessing the midpricer strength at the start did for many of us?

Gawns opponents should be worried about him, not the other way around ;)
