I couldn't wait 24 hours. I'll present the first cushion to the naughty dog.

Erichs Selector.JPG

My initial thoughts are lots of excitement in the forward line. Cyril and Harley only need 1 good game to make some money.
Gawn and NicNat will be popular.
Are Pendles, Selwood and Rockliff traps, do we move on? Fyfe is the only mid lock for me.
The back line is very bland. I can't see any "gifts" and don't want to pay for Docherty.

Wow didn't realise there'd be so many relevant injury affected past premiums as "mid-pricers".

Gawn and Nic Nat surely the easiest ruck decision ever if both play R1 and are priced under 500k!

No one in particular but just seeing Armitage, Griffen, Birchall, Rioli, Christensen, Lycett and Bennell. We swear to avoid them every year but they seem to also be there. Can definitely see myself being tempted by those names again...

I think everyone needs to pick 1 or 2 (or more) to fit all the premiums.

keep hearing how the draft is not the strongest so getting and fielding enough rookies at a low price might be a problem again.

Gunston and Siciliy could be decent picks like Howe this year. Prestia and Coniglio struggle to play a full season, struggle to average 110 and are priced too high to make quick cash so 3 strikes for me. The forward line could be a breakout festival but it's pin the tail on donkey. I wouldn't take 3 of them.

Thanks for your response.

Hoping both Gunston and Sicily get D/F status , interesting to see how the Hawks structure up with Frawley and Stratton back.

if Cogs and the Meatball are around $ 450,000.00 be hard not to pick them upgrade once the more expensive ones drop.

Forward line I will stay clear of KPF to start with , Daniher could be enticing if F/R .

Had Acres , Billings , Heeney , Higgins , Martin , Miller , I Smith to pin the tail on this year.

Just a rough side , not too worried get until prices and positions are confirmed.

Will all be dependent on rookies playing Round 1.

Hurley Hibberd Blakely (Gunston or Sicily if he's mid only)
Danger Dusty Kelly Fyfe Cripps Coniglio (or Prestia for Coniglio and both should be 450k)
Gawn Nic Nat
Heeney (if forward) Billings Walters Lobb (possibly Curnow or Petracca instead based on preseason) Bennell

The rest will be rookies

Edit (updated):

Laird Williams Sicily (forward)

Danger Dusty Kelly Fyfe Cripps Hanners

Gawn NicNat

Heeney (Mid) Billings Curnow Lobb

The ones I'm least sure of are Curnow with Walters, Parish, De Goey and Petracca all in my mind as possibilities and Hanners with Parker and Coniglio other possibilities.

My rules this year is no KPF, or O'Meara, Swallow types. Young blood premiums as much as possible. Time to change the guard, fell for the oldies this year, pretty much killed my season. Team looked ok on paper but did not perform.

First draft of the year.....no changes from now lock it in!!

Docherty, Laird, Z Williams, 123k, 123k, 117k (117k, 102k)

Pre-season eyes on last year Zero gamers (Isaac Cumming, Tom Doedee, Declan Watson, Bailey Rice and Keiran Collins)

Dangerfield, Martin, Z Merrett, P Cripps, B Crouch, S Coniglio(under 450k? - LOCK) 220k mid (allow some $$ for high draftee mid to bris or freo) Wigg (123k, 123k, 102k)

Pre-season eyes on (Poholke, Gallucci, Ahern, Venables, Atley, Drew, Brodie)

Gawn, Natanui (102k - hopefully R/F)

Pre-season eyes on west coast (Natanui and Lycett are both cheap)

Heeney, R Gray, Billings, Petracca, Bennell 123k Rookie (117k, 102k)

That is some serious talent in that fwd line!!!

Pre-season eyes on Willie Rioli and WC small fwds and....not sure yet!

I agree with you except for Bennell, if he's 224k like it's been predicted then I will be very very tempted to use him as a reliable cash cow with a possibility he could become a premium (I wouldn't count on it). I researched the teams of previous winners and nearly all had 2-4 high priced cash cows, the logic being that you get more reliable game time and better scoring than you do by picking all 123k and 117k players.

I'm not sure if Bennell qualifies as "reliable"..... More in the "high risk / high reward" category for mine, even at $224k

He's a massive injury risk but I don't see much risk at 224k (wouldn't pay over 250 for him), even if he manages 8 games he could easily get to 400k and if he gets injured early I'll trade him for some other mid priced player.

Edit: or a cash cow about to go way up in value

I see what you are saying, but I would still tread cautiously. Having said that, a good Pre season with no injuries could easily tempt me also

Yeah it's a fair point and I'll be watching his preseason closely to make sure it's not a mistake waiting to happen. I probably shouldn't have used the word "reliable" in that context. I also won't be going for Armitage or O'meara or anyone like that but I think I will be picking Coniglio at M6 at 447k.

Also Nic Nat and Fyfe so actually a few of the injury prone ones :D

Yeah, I will be taking a close look at Coniglio also.
I started with Fyfe this year and regretted it as I think he was underdone after being out of the game of so long. Sadly I got rid of him at his Bye and he then finished the year off quite well. Beams was another one in the similar boat.
NicNat is tempting, but having just typed out my previous comments about Fyfe and Beams, I'm now thinking that it might be a mistake to start him and maybe look to trade into him at some stage during the season... Plenty to think about prior to round 1.

I did the exact same thing with Fyfe and Beams but in fairness I kept Beams when he first got injured and traded him when he was meant to miss 4 weeks and he only missed 1 game, which made me pretty mad at the time haha.

I also agree that NicNat is a bit of a tough one with injury history, him getting older, a long lay off and a lack of midfield talent beneath him all potential problems and I was thinking of spending the money on Grundy but the value and potential upside are a little bit too good. His hit out to advantage numbers are a massive part of his scoring so you could worry that he doesn't have the players to tap the ball to any more but he scored very well in the last couple of years when they've really not had a great midfield (and they have a few coming up and Yeo is moving in there next year). Still If I have the extra cash I could see myself going for Grundy or someone else.
On ruckmen, Fantasy Freako said GWS won 53% of centre clearances Lobb attended this year (the highest of anyone with 125+ attendances) and with dual positioning and his move to being the main ruckman at the giants, he could be a very good pick in the forward line.

D- Laird, Lloyd, Pittard, Seedsman, Birchall, Rookie x3 ----- also in contention (Doch, Hibbo, Ellis, Rance, Gunston, McGov)

M- Danger, Zerrett, Fyfe, Bont, Treloar, Armo, Griff, Rookie x4 ----- also in contention (Shuey, Coniglio, Dusty, Titchell, JKelly, Sloane)

R- Gawn, NiNat, Rookie ----- also in contention (Lobbe, Goldy)

F- Heeney, Greene, Lids, Christiensen, Lycett, Bennell, Rookie x2 ----- also in contention (Billing, Buddy, JJK, RGray, Walters)

Have 150k spare so can play around with more expensive rookies or just upgrade a mid pricer as this team looks way to mid price to me
All these mid pricers id say were defiantly capable of 85 plus but could go pear shaped also

Will look at moving on 2-4 of these for 2 premos and 2 rookies should they present themselves the closer we get

DEF: Yeo, Williams, Blakely, Hanley, Birchall, Rookie (Rookie, Rookie)
MID: Fyfe, Pendlebury, Beams, Cripps, Coniglio, JOM, Griffen, Rookie (Rookie, Rookie, Rookie)
RUC: Gawn, Naitanui (Rookie)
FWD: Heeney, Billings, D.Smith, Lobb, Deledio, Bennell (Rookie, Rookie)

Lots of mid-price players which is normally not my thing (generally prefer GnR) however there seems to be heaps of value in 2018 with lots of underpriced and cheap proven players. Obviously many have their injury risks and therefore can make or break a season, but things will change once actual prices and DPP are released, but for now I'm happy with it.
