That would be slightly irritating seeing as I only replaced him with Ryan last week...
It will be even more irritating when you bring him back in for Ryan next week lol

Port Adelaide’s Sam Powell-Pepper handed one-match club-imposed ban, will miss Essendon clash

PORT Adelaide midfielder Sam Powell-Pepper’s club-imposed ban from this weekend’s AFL round is now confirmed after his alcohol-fuelled weekend breached team rules.
But neither the AFL nor the Power has yet closed the investigation into complaints from a young woman saying Powell-Pepper acted inappropriately in a city nightclub on Saturday night and early Sunday morning.
Powell-Pepper is strongly denying these allegations.
But the 20-year-old AFL Rising Star nominee cannot dismiss the concern from his teammates of his early morning drinking session on Adelaide’s city nightclub circuit. This has led to Powell-Pepper being banned for at least one AFL game, starting with Sunday’s clash with Essendon at Etihad Stadium.
Port Adelaide issued a statement this evening declaring: “It has been established that Powell-Pepper was intoxicated and broke the playing group’s time curfew on Sunday morning.
“The sanction means Powell-Pepper will miss Port Adelaide’s round four clash with Essendon this Sunday at Etihad Stadium.
“The AFL is continuing its investigations into an alleged incident involving Powell-Pepper in an Adelaide bar last Sunday morning.
“These investigations are ongoing.”
A 20-year-old university student told Port Adelaide officials on Monday she was inappropriately touched by Powell-Pepper — and he allegedly harassed other females at the Mr Kim’s nightclub off Hindley
CCTV vision from the Mr Kim’s nightclub off Hindley Street did not make for a case against Powell-Pepper.
Powell-Pepper breached the team curfew that demands Port Adelaide players leave social events to return home by 2am. There is CCTV vision of the West Australian stumbling on Hindley Street at 4am on Sunday, 11 hours after being part of the Power team that beat Brisbane by five points at Adelaide Oval.
Powell-Pepper was entitled to be enjoying alcohol by the team rule allowing social drinking when there are eight or more days between Power games — as there are in this case. But it is the level of Powell-Pepper’s drinking that has drawn the concern and wrath of the Port Adelaide leadership group.
Powell-Pepper was described by team leader Brad Ebert on Tuesday as being “rattled by the whole thing”. Club leaders now say the first-round draftee is in a “good” mental state.
Port Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley is to speak at 2pm on Thursday at a media conference.

Josh Kelly Update
Leon Cameron on @SportsdayWA stated hopefully a week maybe 2 in regards to Josh Kelly.

RE: Murphy,

Rookie forward Lachlan Murphy won’t play against the Magpies after experiencing some hamstring tightness at training on Thursday morning. The Crows have opted to err on the side of caution, given the six-day break from last week’s game at Etihad Stadium and the demanding nature of Murphy’s role as a small pressure forward. “Lachie misses out, unfortunately, but he’s got a bit of hamstring tightness,” Camporeale said. “He’s had a pretty good pre-season and played a lot of footy for us early so it’s just a no-risk policy for him at the moment.”

sounds like 2 than a week. toby greene was meant to play the following week after the pies match but it took him 3 weeks to get back. gws seem to go down the conservative route.

Looks like Murphy's js is reasonable if they are taking a 'no-risk' policy with him?

Almost sounds like he was going to be rested anyway, by the way Campo says but. If he said because, that would imply he is missing because of the tight hammy.

Don't know, just my interpretation of the wording.

Yeah, that is tough. Although you held Langdon already. Like myself just wait it out until he comes back. I just had Toby Green out a frustrating 2 weeks after holding Kruezer too so think with Kelly you just got to do the same and expect back next week or week after. Ryan has to go clearly. Ablett seems like 4 weeks. I reckon at 34 years of age, red flag and move on. Least his injury happened late in game so no real loss of coin which is some mercy shown in a tough round of injuries.

Ablett and Ryan for mine and keep the other two.

Yeah My inital thinking before I saw Kelly out was Ablett to Macrae (I like the way he is getting things done 'just quietly' for the Doggies) and Ryan to Rat might just stick with that.

Edit. Just moved Finlayson on field for Kelly as I have plenty of good scoring def rookies alreasdy. I reckon Finlayson may score wel this game against Freo especially with Kelly out as well.

do you think Macrae can maintain a 131 average for the rest of the season though ? started off amazing.

if he finishes with a 110 average season end , he is only going to average 106/107 for the rest of the season though.

Yeah, I think he will maintain at least a 120+ for the rest of the season. Coming into his 6th year and a solid player. At the end of last year his DE was up and looks to be doing the same into 2018. I'm loving the look of him lol.

This kind of logic has been thrown around a lot on this forum lately (based on Rowsus' thread) but I just don't get it.

To over simplify it - it's like saying the coin flip has been heads the last 3 times so if you assume over 22 flips it will be 11 heads and 11 tails then chances are the next 19 flips will be 8 heads and 11 tails. It's just wrong, chances are still 50/50 for every flip.

If you think Macrae is a 110 average type player then you should assume he will average 110 no matter when you bring him in. This kind of logic only works with the benefit of hindsight, it shouldn't be used to predict the future.

Still no timeframe for return of key Cats
Mitch Cleary
Apr 13, 2018 12:48PM

GEELONG coach Chris Scott has refused to rule out further surgery for key defender Lachie Henderson as he continues to battle a knee injury.

Henderson ran laps away from the main group at Friday's main training session with no timeframe set for a return after he underwent surgery in December.

A fortnight ago Scott hinted that Henderson had "turned the corner" in his recovery, however the final stages to reach full fitness continue to provide a stumbling block.

"I'm not sure I got that right that he'd turned the corner," Scott said on Friday.

"I did say that, but it just seems to continue to frustrate that issue because it's not clear exactly when he'll get back.

"It's been also a little hard to read because he's been functioning at a reasonable level but the last, whatever it is, 10 or 20 per cent hasn't been forthcoming.

"There's no real update there other than to say we don't expect to have him back in the next few weeks."

When asked if Henderson would potentially require surgery if his rehabilitation continued to stall, Scott suggested it was a chance.

"I think so, but I don't really know," Scott said.

"It's a situation I don't get really too involved (in), I just don't have too much to add. I couldn't rule it (surgery) out.

Henderson's continued woes coincide with Harry Taylor's plantar fascia injury he suffered in round one.

Taylor trained indoors on Friday with no timeline set for his comeback.

Makeshift utility Mark Blicavs trained with the defensive group, as did former North Melbourne forward Aaron Black, in a sign he could be thrown into the mix in future weeks.
