Does anyone have enough confidence in the job security of any of these players to go a week early on one of them? Lots of potential bubble boys next week.

Ronke
Mutch
Spargo
Worpel

(plus Appleby et al).
I’d back Ronke in over Spargo just
Mutch the one I've gone early on. I know most are probably going early on Spargo instead but I like Mutch's chances of staying in long term better as the dons need more mid options.
Make of that what you will as it's from a dons supporter!
Mutch. Begley and Greene out injured. Bomber18 posted as such in the Rookie (?) thread.
I hope we keep him in. You never know with Essendon though. Very conservative and a bit backwards with selection policies.
Thanks for the quick replies everyone, very helpful.

I've elected to wait for now - not because I don't like my preferred option (Mutch) but because on further digging I'm not sur I'll be devastated if I missed out in my third favourite next Friday night.

A few thoughts from a bit of digging:

Mutch: named in the wing in both games, Dons seemingly short on mids plus Begley and Green injured, played VFL all last year and averaged 21 touches, 20 touches on debut, endorsed by Bomber and Philzsay (Dons supporters), somewhat more mature at 20yo and 83kg. Seems very likely to be picked up next week.

Spargo: DPP is nice and could be handy through byes, loophole friendly fixture is helpful but I'm looking for JS through the byes, not an FD! Lots of ins and outs at Melbourne so it's harder to know his role is secure as a result, averaged 219 SC in U16 div 2 champs, quite light at 71kg, good CP % at 40+. Named third on the bench (which is not in numerical order). My number two pick for now.

Worpel: seemed to be fancied pre season but didn't play JLT, prospectus suggests he could play from day one but has a limited ceiling, 19yo and 86kg, I don't feel I've had a great experience with Hawks rookies, Falcons and Vic Country captain but didn't live up to expectations last year and missed the top 20 clearance winners, tackles a lot though (7-8 per game in U18s).

Ronke: 20yo but only 77kg, likened to Kieran Jack (is this good for SC?), only averaged 14 touches and 1.2 goals in NEAFL (always wary that this is a lower quality comp), potentially greater uncertainty on forward structure with Buddy out.

So I've elected to wait and likely grab Mutch and probably Spargo next week. I suspect I'll only really regret it if Ronke fires and looks a must have for quick cash generation ... although with Ess, Hawks and Syd all playing today, I can potentially grab Spargo tomorrow with a better information set than I have right now :D

Tipped Gold Coast to win today. Looking good so far. Have Holman on field, need some more points from him.

Just brought in Mclean and was worried when he copped that hit to his shoulder, but he is soldiering on well so far.
