Not sure if anyone else is tossing up between this equation but:

Have 1 less trade but have better premiums (ie. make one extra downgrade)

vs

Have 1 extra trade but have an extra 1 or 2 ultra value premos (Rocky/JJK/Wingard/Dixon etc)

In the above scenario, for me it's either complete my team with 2 trades or 3 trades in hand. Not many i know but it's as many (if not more) trades as i'd usually have anyway.

He doesn't seem to be moving too bad at all. He is very good at getting that quick break on his defender.

His total lack of pre-season might still be affecting him a little, but then again we have seen older players miss pre-season's and because of their bulid-up of work over previous season, be fine and get back to normal levels.

We seem to have improved our movement up in the forward line this year with clever spacing and leading patterns and have also added multiple weapons to the mix. JK has been allowed to ease back into the season with Darling having a blinder of a season so far, LeCras & Cripps both back to great form, while Waterman, Rioli & Ryan have all added goal kicking power to the mix.

So JK has been able to go about his business kicking his 3 goals a game. I do feel a couple of those monster scores are coming after the bye.
Cheers LITS, appreciate it.

I have a feeling it might be as soon as this week haha but it probably doesn't make too much sense bringing him in 1 week before his bye unless you were certain a monster was on its way.

Personally I'm hoping for Darling to monster it this weekend against the St.Kilda backs seeing as though I brought him in last week and he was well held. Hope he rips them apart on the weekend!!

Always the way isn't it :p

You must feeling pretty good about things at the moment, and it's not a bad way to finish the first half of the year with the saints at home either. Shuey coming back soon and JJK and NicNat to start ramping up towards finals, it might be time to start keeping an eye on flights to Melbourne for September haha

don't you go picking up Dixon , thought I was the only one silly enough to have him.

Actually I think there are 3 or 4 owners on here.

I really should trade in Billings just for the sake of it.

Yeah the club has definitely exceeded my expectations this year, it's fantastic.

Shuey will play this week, and Liam Ryan is now back in full training and should be available for selection against Sydney in Round 13 after our Bye.

I think it depends largely on the number of trades left (2 vs 3 would be different to 6 vs 7, eg). If it's 2 vs 3 for you, I'd be inclined to say that you should go the discounted route and save the extra trade. You wouldn't want to "complete" your side and then find it is incomplete again relatively quickly because you ran out of capacity to address LTIs. It might therefore also depend on the durability of your premiums, and how well your next rookie in is likely to score.

My question is can Rocky be trusted? Disastrous start to the year, dropped to the two's and now two reasonable scores. Tempting given his past performances but what is he going to dish up for the rest of the year???

I think it depends on what you're expecting from him. If you want a top MID premo you're probably putting too much pressure on the pick, and are likely to be disappointed. But at 375k and his bye in the rear-vision mirror, he doesn't have to do much to be a worthwhile pick and there are lots of outs along the way. If he gets injured through the byes it's a bummer but apart from that there's not a heap of downside. And of course there's the massive upside possibility if everything clicks with him.

Short answer is he can't be trusted.
If you pick him he will get injured and if you don't he will avge 120 for the rest of the year.
But as Stephen posted there isn't much downside with his price, breakeven and bye already gone and lots of ways to exit when he falls apart.

it depends on where rocky plays in your squad. if he is your m8 then i would say probably cant be trusted and also he may not avg what you expect but if he is used for the byes and as your m9 then i cant find too many reasons to decline player who was punching out macrae numbers a couple of seasons ago. i understand that he has had delayed preseaon and he has also had numerous of injuries which has affected his price but even if he does get injuried he will still make you some decent cash. i think the more game time he has and the more time he plays in the middle his scoring will improve from here on.

Hogan. Aside from his injury affected game, he has been solid. Playing up the ground this season which has resulted in his average rising considerably.

Buddy can go extremely large but he misses games and goes missing during games.

For my final upgrades in defence and midfield which I'll be doing over the byes in round 13 and 14, which combo is best?

Hurn and Treloar, Hurley and Gaff or Hurn and Gaff?

Hurn and Treloar.

As good as West Coast have been I can't imagine they just keep winning for the rest of the year and would expect a slight drop off. So I think Gaff is overpriced and Hurn's price might still see him present some value.

Cheers Darkie! Yeah durability is an important factor I hadn’t considered. My main durability concerns would be Gawn and Rocky but as we know LTI’s can strike the most durable of players (Pendles and JPK last year) so a bit of luck goes a long way sometimes!

I’m leaning towards leaving myself with 2 but that may change when Billings starts dominating

I like all 3 but probably the first one. I prefer Treloar over Gaff personally, he just seems like a higher averaging player. Collingwood have a pretty good finish to the year iirc.

I’ll be watching Hurley closely when he returns. With our new gameplan, it looks like the days of over possessing the footy are gone which will probably affect his numbers going forward.
