It got me thinking... did the nomination rule actually have anything to do with it? Before the nomination rule, it was still illegal to block a ruckman wasn't it? So if Danger wanted to go 3rd man up, and someone blocked him, wouldn't that have been a free kick anyway? ie. the real problem is the blocking rule, not the nomination rule.

The way I see it if Danger wasn't the nominated ruck and was just player trying to get into a spot to get a possible possession the free kick would never have been paid. The kind of body on body that took place happens all the time and free kicks are never given (whether they should be is another matter). The ump was looking right at Danger as he new he had nominated and was telling the Melbourne player not to prevent him contesting the tap. The Melbourne player just did not know Danger had nominated.
For my 2 cents worth I think no nominations and no third man up. Just throw it up as quickly as you can and only one player from each team can contest. The onus on who that should be is then on the players to work out not on the umpires to adjudicate. They have enough crap to "interpret" already.
Jeez Selwood has been a terrible trade-in for Fyfe. How does he let 2 duds tag him out of consecutive games? Thought he'd gotten all his bad scores out of the way early. Should've gone for Neale instead.

I have fallen for the Selwood trap too many times so he is a never again for me. Don’t get me wrong, he is a great player and I would love to have him in my team however he does have his share of poor ones and seems to escape the scrutiny that some can’t.
I think Selwood almost relishes being tagged. Not because he will go all out to overcome it, but because he knows it’s him doing his bit for the team. Almost wants it to happen.
New trade in Hurley disappointing as I had tmac all week but changed last minute. Jelwood 2 weeks in a row of crappy scores. Joel Smith scored what Hibberd probably would have scored... better than a donut I guess.
Cripps, Simmo, Mitchell (C), Yeo, McLean, Hoff & Cogs to come. No pods left to play so probably don't need to stress out too much.
Philzsay gave me the red carpet treatment yesterday. Was a great day out. Lij copped a knock to the knee in his game but made it back here for dinner and drinks last night.
Will go and have a look at the Cripps v Titchell game today then Pink concert tonight
.
12 / 1167. ? will roll the dice with Titch C.
Trades worked a treat. Sicily to Heeney and Hibberd to Crisp.
Happy days
