I need to see more games but the MID tag might be a luxury option this year ... given IMO that he pads his stats with backfield possessions I have ?? regardless of his weight or limited PS ... just my initial thoughts ...

After not being able to watch any of the U/18 stuff last year, Walsh impressed me a lot with his first game. Only a JLT game but he just looks so composed. Glad to see Will get on the field too and show what he can do, he’s yet to show even half of what he’s capable of yet.

Positives- it shouldn't be too hard for him to secure a small forward spot in that Carlton side. If Polson can get games there, anyone can.
Negatives- probably another rookie stuck in the forward pocket, see Garlett's 11 games at 46 as an example of how productive that spot can be.

Don't really want to look at the stats this early on ... more the role and team tactics ... some very weird stats among that lot from one JLT hitout but have instantly ruled out three players from my shortlist ... just don't see it from them ..

I’m not even sure if Gibbons will play round 1 despite kicking 3. They didn’t seem to want him playing in the middle.

I don’t think you can read much into JLT except for if players with injury concerns are moving and playing well, looking at rookies, looking at the role and impact of breakout candidates as well as monitoring role changes. I wouldn’t be picking an older player or a mature defender after good JLT games. And take everything with a grain of pepper

Saw enough tonight to confirm Walsh as starter if he plays round 1. Saw more than enough to rule out Zerrett. Down to Crouch & Beams for M5.

Merrett was taking it very easy and only played 36% game time, I suspect he will do more in JLT2 but he doesn't look to be moving at 100% yet, which should be a requirement for picking him. I expect him to be a really good pick at a cheaper price when he gets his fitness back at about round 7 or 8 or so.

Bit of a shame Gibbo has got the small forward role.
Would of backed him in every week at M8 in the guts, but I'm not gonna pass up a 102k rookie, he'll just have to sit at M11 instead.
