Bit torn this week. Currently looking at one up, one down:

Parker -> Baker
Clark -> Laird

I think Hayes and Hately will be must haves next week, so will be forced into a double downgrade.

My issue with that is that I think Oliver goes BANG this week or next, and I'll miss the chance to get him in at $550k. But the only way to get him in would be to flick LDU or Scott early. Tricky business.
I’ve had a look at Oliver’s draw and he has Hutchings and De Boer possibly in consecutive weeks coming up. That has put me completely off him.

I’d grab Laird.

Thoughts on whether a B Scott to M Hore trade is worthwhile. Started Hore but traded him due to JS concerns in RD3 and with his low be and performance in conjunction with N Jetta's lengthy absence I'm looking to bring him back.

Will likely feature in a double downgrade involving S Collins to L Baker which means J Darling stays and T Kelly comes in for M Parker next week.
Feel your pain. Possibly my two biggest SC regrets so far this year are 1) trading Hore for Parker Rd3 2) not bringing Hore back in last week. I have entertained grabbling him this week as if he goes on a 80+ run over the next month then it will be regretsville, but I think grabbing him now just locks in our disadvantage with 46 % already owning him.

Still a healthy number of other rookies on the bubble this week and who knows what selection will throw up on Thursday. Choosing which rookies to grab and which to let pass in the next few weeks can be almost as significant as which premo's to target imo. We may be carrying them all the way to the byes ... or longer.

Hore trade looks good on face value, will increase by $67k and has a breakeven of -69, Scott's JS is now shaky, could swap with Tarryn Thomas and have a rest. Scott's scoring has stifled since his debut and has a breakeven of +11. Hore projected to increase in value over 3 rounds $67k, $47k and $27.5k to about $141.5k sounds like a win to me.

Should I do:

1)Clark to Baker
Darling to Daniel

2) Collins to Baker
Darling to T.Kelly
+ 40k

3) Clark to Rotham/any other fwd or def rookie
Darling to Baker
+ 340k

Before trades my team looks like this:

Collins is maxed out so I'd be moving him and Darling on.

Do we even know if Rotham is playing this week? I'd be inclined to go for option 2.

No possible way to rid yourself of Parker instead of Constable? I'm assuming not, but just thought I'd check.
Not enough money this week
Also leaves me with setterfield in the midfield, which I can use to get in hately and Kelly next week

You're probably right. Though if Oliver is in the mood, he's not going to be put off by a tag. I'll probably play it safe though.

Oliver seems a perfectly good trade in if it suits but it's not like 560k is a super bargain. I'd be surprised if that's the cheapest he gets.

Daniel's been outstanding this season in terms of SC and is a genuine POD but is anyone worried about his role? The Dogs aren't exactly flying and you'd think, to quote Sam Cooke, a change is gonna come.

FYI I do have a genuine set against players like him because he's a midget so just FYI I'm biased against him. Still, having said all that, if he maintains that role he's probably a good pickup.

Not advising for picking him but Brent Harvey was a midget and he was a SC God.

I am going

Collins to Lockhart
Parker to Baker

Like Lockhart's DEF/MID swing, allows me to look at Butters/Constable to Laird next week by swinging Lockhart to mids. If Lockhart gets dropped he is a good floating donut as I've got ROB at R3.

I've also swung Moore to defense and will play Baker over Collins on field. Happy with that at the moment. Might come back to bite me.

C Wagner > Ross
Rozee > T Kelly

Still leaves me with rookies not making much money: Setters, Parker, Clark, Balta, Burgess. Hope some turn around soon or I may have to cut my losses on them.

Will try for Hayes and Hately next week.

Would like to get rid of Burgess, but if I do, I don't have enough for Lloyd if I do. Ideally I would trade down both Parker and Burgess this week, but would like to do a down/up if I can rather than two down.

These trade leaves me with $34k and 25 trades, I could bring in Rotham, but with the length of the round, who knows if he plays? At least with Lockhart he is named to play.

Feel a few of my rookies still have some growth, and in the next couple of weeks might be some more downgrade targets.

I’ve gotten a rookie after the price rise quite a few times over the years and most of the time, I usually end up disappointed (DBJ, Ronke...) That first price rise is usually the biggest so it’s probably likely that the rookie only makes another 100-120k from there. Whilst not the worst result, it’s hardly a massive win either.

I’d probably rather grab Lockhart as he could make a similar amount. Unless you are confident that Hore can make closer to $150-200k from here.

Thanks for the responses. Have locked in S Collins to L Baker (via W Setterfield and X Duursma) thus freeing up 253,000 and pushing M Parker to F7 allowing L Baker to be fielded at F6.

Agree with @Professor assessment of B Scott which is why I'm looking to offload him either this week for M Hore (via X Duursma) or next week to J Hately. Either way I'll be able to afford T Kelly next week for M Parker with the only potential roadblock if B Scott misses and Parker score below 40 and Kelly goes 120+. Will keep Darling and reassess closer to the bye unless I decide to turn him into T Kelly next week if M Parker performs well.

So really it comes down to
A. Bypass Hore, field Duursma and Scrimshaw at D5-D6, keep J Clark next week and trade B Scott to J Hately in RD7
VS
B. Select Hore for B Scott, loop Duursma and Gibbons this week, J Clark for J Hately via XD next week with J Hately new M8 and X Duursma/J Scrimshaw as D6.

With poor/slow cash generators I really like the Hore and Hately ins over the next fortnight to help cash gen tick over quickly which is why I'm leaning towards that option as well as potentially receiving more points in the rookie roulette.

Should address the Darling concern but I selected him with the view to be pushed to F7 to be looped with a DPP such as J Westhoff/S Menegola and with all the corrections/small downgrades early I'd rather utilise trades for injured players down the track.

I am having a hard time working out what to do, I think I am going to go Clark to Lockhart. Purely to put some cash in the bank, I am not sold on Lockhart's scoring or JS but it banks $140k for me and I need that going into the next couple of weeks. If I don't do this I don't know who I cash out Clark to and when....

Probably stretching a little too far but does anyone see any value in Jack Newnes?

Seems to be pretty consistent and looking through the list of forwards that could potentially be too 6-10 no one really inspires. Saints on the up, maybe worth getting in on the action?

i am not sure if this move would work but i would consider removing clarke instead of collins. collins can make you perhaps another 100k if he gets the intercepting role that we like and clarke could be making way for someone like tuohy this week. just something to consider

He has never been a premium and I don't expect that to change this year. Scores may drop off a bit when the Saints lose a few games too. Better options.
