Here's my situation
. View attachment 8464
I have 310k to upgrade.
Here are my options.
Parker to Kelly- gets Parker off field but I don't like Kelly's bye.
Clark to Sicily- Parker still on field but get my preferred premo in Sicily.
Parker to Laird( rozee forward) - Meet in the middle option.
I rate the premos
Sicily/Kelly above Laird but don't like Kelly's bye at all.
Any advice appreciated.
I'm in a similar boat and am getting Kelly. Don't like his bye either but I like him as a top 3 fwd so Im just going to try and work it out.

Are you concerned about the Hutchings tag?
I'm concerned about lots of things!

Yes, it's one of them. But I don't think we have to assume his performance under the De Boer tag will be the norm. (If I did, I wouldn't get him at all). Hutchings might go to him, or he might not. He might get curtailed badly, or he might not. I think these things are too hard to predict. He is a fair price and I know (to as high a degree of certainty as I can reasonably expect) that I want him in my finished team. That's enough for me.

Hey mate,
I would rate Kelly above the others at this stage, simply because he's cheaper! Having 3 in the same bye isn't so bad in the forwards for rd 13 because the other lines aren't really stacked with premiums from that round, so the donut isn't going to hurt as much. (20 other opportunities for scores when you consider Gawn/Grundy if one of them is covered) **Though now that I've typed that out it sounds a bit more dangerous!
I imagine they'll all be keepers and getting Parker off the field should be priority 1 as you said.
This season seems harder to raise cash than previous years, so cheaper premiums might be the winning flavour this year!
Have you considered blokes like Worpel/Smith? I can appreciate if you didn't want to take too many extra risks, though this season has thrown up plenty of weird scoring already!

As an example, getting Smith leaves approx 115k for next week, which will almost be a straight swap from Rozee to Crisp (or similar)

Good luck anyway mate!

Cheers. I think I will go Kelly and I'll just have to be conscious not to trade in any more r13 premos.

Hi everyone. Appreciate some help. Currently ranked 25k, and feeling in a bit of a bind as to what to do next! Key weaknesses I see in my team: cash generation, no grawndy, no Jake Lloyd seagulling in my backline. Westhoff looked great after round 1, but then role change and boom, sad face!

Have 327k and 1 trade left. Options I am pondering in no particular order:
  • No more trades this round. I started the NTL club thread last year.
  • Scrimshaw straight up to Lloyd, leaves pretty much nothing in the bank
  • Goldy to O’Brien, left field, cash generation
  • Hoff out, setters forward, duursma mid, Lloyd in.
  • Hoff to obrien via Bines
  • Go early on will hayes (mid) or Mitch Lewis (fwd), either for B Scott or setterfield using DPP. But not a fan of going a week early.
  • ???
The black box is he who shall not be named, aka Baltamort.

You are very exposed bench wise. Id just hold tight this round and next go one up one down or double down depending on how teams are named.

$299K in the bank.

Bailey Scott will be moved on.

Can go to;

Rockliff (BE 31)
Sheppard (BE 39)
Robbie Gray (BE 152)
Selwood (BE 97)
Buddy (BE 96)

I favour them in the order listed above.

Really keen on Sheppard as a big POD (only in 1218 teams and averaging 99.6).

Current team below

Whitfield, Hurn, Williams, Smith, Duursma, Hore (Clark, Scrimshaw)
Cripps, Macrae, Oliver, Coniglio, Brayshaw, Walsh, Constable, Drew (Atkins, Stack, Scott)
Goldy, Mumford (ROB)
Danger, Heeney, T Kelly, Lobb, Moore, Baker (Bines, Owies (FD))

24 trades left.
Rockliff by miles in my view. I think it’s possible that any of those five is not a quality keeper from here (and I have a couple of them!) but Rocky seems the most likely as well as the one most likely to hurt you. Still well priced too.

Thanks for that Darkie.

It’s probably the lowest risk play of the 5 and avoids any drama with Sheppard being a late out too.

Went for Sheed to Hurn as my second trade. Didn't need to lock it in yet, and possibly should have waited for any late changes I needed to cover, but it's done.

Changing Hurn to Darling as one of my later changes before the season kicked off has really burned me. Cost me two trades this week to fix up that mistake (plus a lot of points and cash).

I swear this game hates me this year. Not sure why I made that trade this morning prior to final teams being named. Stupid.

At least I am not copping the injuries this year (yet) which killed my team last year when I was doing much better. Expecting that will happen soon though, everything else seems to be going wrong.

Does Rocky average 105+ from here ?
FOMO is huge especially with his ceiling.

Can do Scott to Rocky with cash in the bank.
I guarantee if I trade him out, he will probably average that much or better, and 85 max if I keep him. I'm keeping him at this stage, might trade him out post byes (if I have a spare trade).

...Based on that, he's not going to go 105+ :)

I've already done Collins > Baker this week.

Which is the better upgrade?
Scott > Libba - for a midfield of: Cripps, Neale, Oliver, Rockliff, Libba, Walsh, Constable, Stack | Butters, Atkins, Gibbons
or
Clark > Lloyd - for a backline of: Lloyd, Whitfield, Laird, Williams, Moore, Hore | Scrimshaw, Duursma

Looks like my best bet is keep Rozee for now and trade Tobe Watson to either Josh Corbett or if Josh Rotham named in 22 for Eagles tomorrow I grab him on bubble and he scores well.

Fingers crossed Eagles do right thing by me,
oh well. Not to be.

Hand is forced. It was either trade in one of two rookies playing their first game sight unseen or trade in one rookie I at least seen once and was thinking of getting next week anyway.
Welcome on board Will Hayes and goodbye DEF/MID loophole agent Tobe Watson.
Bailey Scott, you can count yourself lucky it was not you that got the chop this week.

I’d go Clark to Lloyd because Lloyd is more likely to be a top 6 defender than Libba is to be a top 8 mid. However, I can see that fielding 4 mid rookies could be concerning.
