Thanks for the help - While this is my first year at SC I have taken it seriously ( probably too seriously lol) I think I need to upgrade my kids - Brayshaw particularly can’t seem to get that big score
The standard play in this situation (a moderately underperforming premium mid season) would be to hold, unless they have a very low score (like Darling’s 9, which will significantly impact his price) or a negative role change (Brayshaw playing small forward, say, rather than midfield).

I think most people here would advise upgrading around him, and dealing with him if you’re able to once you’ve got your rookies off the ground. You could try a slingshot trade - Melbourne have the second bye, so you could trade him to a Macrae, Fyfe or Merrett (who have the first bye) just before that, and essentially have one extra premium score through that period. It makes it a bit more appealing to do a sideways trade, which can work but is usually higher risk/lower reward than a standard upgrade/downgrade approach.

Are you trying to tell me I should trade Darling?

Probably last chance if you want to. Personally I have Westhoff, and have taken the “hold and upgrade around him” approach, and he posted a decent score this round so I’m feeling okay about that. He’s more proven/durable/flexible/useful (ruck cover) than Darling, but probably going no better prior to this round.

Interestingly a few people are talking about trading Hoff in in the coming weeks. Although I can understand why people have cut him, you wouldn’t want to cut him and have people trading him in at a bargain price and then he starts pumping out good scores!

I think the question is whether that’s realistically possible in Darling’s case of whether he’s just a list clogger. If you think it’s the former then I’d keep him and cross your fingers, otherwise trade him. That’s assuming trading him doesn’t facilitate significantly better trades near term outside of the Darling replacement itself.

Thanks mate, always appreciate your opinion

I've got a list of players that i want to end up in my final team....and I can't obtain any of them by moving Darling on at this stage.

Also, as my ranking is shot, I am going to try and conserve trades and hopefully make up some ground later in the year when others run out...so as painful as it is to say, I am going to hold Darling at this stage and hope for a miraculous turn around in form

I'm playing you in the $50 cash league this week, nice to come across another poor suffering team without Gawn and/or Grundy :p

That’s fair enough, trading smartly around the byes/having a couple of trades for popular late LTIs can be a great way to make up ground. I think I need to focus more on my looping and rookie roulette picks as well.

Haha - hopefully that gives us both a chance at jagging a win!

I don't exactly know why, but in Supercoach, most of the time it's a near statistical certainty, based on anecdotal evidence presented by the majority, that the week you trade out a player, is the exact time (give or take), they go rogue and get on a variant hot streak of punishing, psychologically debilitating, high scores.
