Well Richo... It's not exactly a fair fight when de Grub is holding and scragging the whole night illegally... and the opposition's premier players aren't getting paid the free kicks that are clearly there.

Given a fair contest every week... de Grub would get smashed each & every time in a head to head matchup.

Crazy stuff. This actually happened to Jay a couple of years ago. Traded a player in who was a late late out to avoid a donut so had to use another trade for another player from the same game. Kinda funny when we think about it now but definitely wasn’t at the time!

I remember that , was it Montagna or Murphy ? 2 trades for 1 player

love richo but i can't stand him as a commentator, especially richmond games- he overcompensates and i have to mute the tv.

Not doubting that Sloane or Cripps or whoever would beat de Boer if they were playing the same role in their teams, but you can't say it isn't fair when he plays a hard tag on someone.

In the same way that a defensive forward or a lock down defender is a "role player", so is a tagger, who sacrifices their own game for the good of the team. It actually takes a lot more mental resilience than people give him credit for.

I always liked de Boer at Freo and he's a cracker of a guy, I think it's great that he found his niche in a good team. The games best mids can deal with a tag and it becomes a genuine head to head

Yeah it was the same thing with Glen Jackovich when he was commenting... he always overcompensated as well. I reckon Matthew Pavlich has come in in the last few years and done a great job though.
