Full credit to Wade.

Did everything asked of him by the selectors , including giving up the gloves and batting higher up the order for Tassie.

Took his opportunity and stood up when his country needed him.

The weakness smith has is vs taller bowlers whose natural length is that awkward non driveable length where you don’t know whether to rock forward or back.

Steven Finn had a decent amount of success against him despite his shortcomings as a bowler. Archer being in the same mould will definitely ask questions, especially at Lords.
Finn was 1.98

Archer is 1.82

Just keep the rain away for long enough for us to have a chance of 10 wickets.

Still cannot believe we were 8 for 123 on day one and now got more chance of winning than they do. You got to love Test cricket how it can change over a number of days.
A brilliant sportmen like Smith can do that (with a little assistance)

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a test match with so many decisions over turned upon review, as well as decisions not given that are shown to be out via a replay. A lot of them have been genuine howlers too. Such a series deserves better umpiring.

It goes from bad to worse for the umpires. That was never out. It will be interesting to see the ramifications on these 2. A spell in the country I suspect.

Not sure where these two umpired last - maybe they haven’t since World Cup so may be pointless but it does makes me wonder sometimes if “home” umpires might understand the conditions better than having neutral umpires. Umpires really struggling with all factors of line and movement as well as height this game. Maybe Daar will have a better feel for it in the second test?

Daar is a ****ing spud. There’s no possible way he should be trusted to umpire in the second test.
