I’m really not a fan of this type of comment and I’ll let you know why.
Can you honestly say that there are better spinners than Lyon and better seamers than Cummins, Hazelwood and Starc at the present time? Pattinson is the only one on par with them and his issue is his body holding up.
The rest of the seamers around the place are solid, but are hard pressed to push those 4 guys out of squads. Jhye Richardson will be one for the future and rightly so. A lot of the others have been proven either not quick enough or good enough when given opportunities.
As for the batsmen, only Warner, Khawaja, Smith and Clarke are the only significant players from NSW in recent memory (being the last 6-7 years).
Keepers have been a real problem since Gilchrist retired (an adopted WA player from NSW) so we’ve had a merry go round.
If anything, Victoria and Western Australia are the ones being represented more and more over the last 5-10 years. The limited overs squads are the ones that have had plenty of representation from those two states. I could easily bring up 15-20 names of players tried in the last 6-7 years from those states let alone the last 15 years.
This is not to mention the fact that NSW have a heap of guys who move interstate to get a game. In South Australia and Tasmania, there at least 8-10 current players who were originally from NSW. I remember a time (2009 if I remember correctly) when Aaron O’Brien, Daniel Christian and Tom Cooper were representing South Australia and they came from the same club in NSW (UNSW for people interested).
So don’t write this rubbish about NSW players being favoured over others, that ‘tradition’ has long been forgotten and perpetuated by people who don’t care to follow the trends of the current game properly.

Ben McDermott named in Australia squad for Sri Lanka, Pakistan T20Is
Steve Smith and David Warner also return to the side with Marcus Stoinis being one of the notable absentees.
Stoinis managed just 87 runs in the 2019 World Cup and struggled with injuries. Smith's last T20I, incidentally, was in 2016 in the T20 World Cup group game against India in Mohali. "We are delighted to welcome Steve Smith and David Warner back into the Twenty20 International fold.
Steve is a world-class batsman in all formats, while Warner is Australia's highest ever T20I runs-scorer. He was also the leading runs-scorer at this year's Indian Premier League with Sunrisers Hyderabad," Trevor Hohns, the national selector, said. "The squad we have selected is quite role-specific and we believe it gives us the flexibility to thrive in all match conditions.
"It is almost a year to the day until Australia hosts the men's Twenty20 World Cup and we have selected this squad with that in mind. We have looked to put a squad together that we think can take us through to that tournament."
Pat Cummins is a world-class right-arm option and has been in superb form of late. Andrew Tye is a wicket-taking proposition, Billy Stanlake has the X-factor and Kane Richardson has been an excellent short-form player for some time now," he said.

Pakistan will start their tour with the first T20I on November 3 in Sydney before taking on the hosts in Canberra and Perth on November 5 and 8. They will also play two Tests in Brisbane and Adelaide starting from November 21.
