9. Mohammad Nabi (Melbourne Renegades) 2018 SCBBL average: 51.9 $149,200

Nabi’s bowling role was diminished last summer by the arrival of Cameron Boyce and he often bats too low in the order to be a significant SuperCoach factor. You don’t want to be relying on collapses.

VERDICT: Nabi had too many scores under 50 last summer to be in the mix for BBL09 SuperCoach teams.

Hmmm - I must admit I had him in my draft side, but this doesn’t sound great. Is it a fair assessment?
Wouldn't be overly concerned about the Nabi selection at his current price, as a player of his calibre represents great value if he can score at a more consistent range in comparison to last season.

Thanks - after I posted I saw you had mentioned him in your comments on your own side. I was a bit concerned if his opportunity has been reduced due to Boyce/potentially batting too low, but the early DGW is arguably a bit of an insurance policy.

Could be biased as Nabi is one of my favourites from a SC and non SC perspective but with the departure of Tremain and Khan Shinwari in conjunction with Gurney being utilised primarily at the death, hopefully Nabi receives more overs this season during the start/middle as the majority of his matches, involved only bowling 1-2 overs. His economy rate, strike rate and ability to both pinch hit with the bat and snare quick wickets are other enticing factors as well as his status as an all rounder available under $150,000 possessing his ceiling.

Worst case scenario is he gets off to a slow start, but with the amount of trades to be used each week he could be removed early on and replaced by the likes of M Marsh, A Agar, L Livingstone, A Carey, P Salt, B Laughlin, B Stanlake, etc due to his dual position eligibility.

This is my understanding. Ur Rahman and Banton for the first half to be replaced by Khan and De Villiers. Recall reading an article confirming this. Will see if I can find it when I’m not at work.
confused by this ?

where is Mujeeb leaving too ? (can only assume it must be to play BPL, as far as I know Afghanistan's schedule is clear otherwise their would be doubt on Nabi , Qais & Rashid's availability for the whole BBL as well).

From what I remember reading, Mujeeb and khan are sharing the duties during the season, so with Banton and ABD in the squad it means they can’t both play in the same games.

Cheers

I haven't seen anything to suggest Mujeeb is leaving early either.

Boof's initial interview stated that both Mujeeb & Zahir would share games , so thought something different must have come out.

No reason why Banton can't miss out though and they play both the Afghani's together in the same side.

Is McGurk a realistic chance to be selected? Seems promising in the domestic ODs but not sure of the Gades exact lineup
He’s a chance. The 11th spot in the team is really hard to pick.

I’m expecting the following 10 to be picked:

Finch
Marsh
Harris
Cooper
Harper
Christian
Nabi
Boyce
Richardson
Gurney

The last spot could be anybody really. There’s 5 bowling options in the 10 players above and they bat very deep all the way down to Nabi and you could argue that Boyce is close to an all-rounder too. So I guess it would depend on whether they want an extra batting or bowling option any given match.

Don’t forget Finch and Cooper potentially send down 1-2 overs every now and then. Could easily fit the young gun in.

I posted this in early August in 7/11's player overviews thread. From what I have heard from a couple of months ago he was told he will definitely be playing at stages throughout the tournament. However, his sensational state to domestic cricket could even bring forward a BBL debut tbh, and I for one would have zero issues with him being in the side over Cooper. I should hopefully be able to get some decent info once they go into camp mid-Dec.

Jake Fraser-McGurk: 17 years old, absolutely whacks the living daylights out of balls. Hit a near on run-a-ball 130 for Vic 2nd XI during the week. Will be tough to crack the middle order with Marsh coming into the side for White essentially, and the rest reasonably settled, also bowls some half handy fast leggies. May not get his chance this year, however will be a staple of fantasy BBL sides down the track.
