Gee, I’m torn on Lynn.

Has been in and out of my side more than any other player.

I really don’t like the fact that he’s priced 48k more than he should be based on last season’s average.

What do you guys think? Is he a lock, likely, unlikely or just a flat out no?
If it wasn't for the starting DGW then I wouldn't likely give Lynn any to little consideration. Akin to Sams and Cutting, he is inconsistent in regards to his SC scoring but has a large ceiling thus compensating. Main appealing factor is their bye in RD3 and his price which means he can be utilised as a 1 week proposition as an avenue to grab R Khan assuming you have a DPP in the bowling lineup for RD2.

Fantastic effort @THCLT - bookmarked!
My one request is Jackson Bird. I recall him having a few blinders last year, making him an enticing option for the first DGW. Would love to see it!
Jackson Bird added to the Sixers player's list.

Not sure if you would class his two 2-wickets games (90's SC) as blinders though. He played 9 games for 7 wickets at an SC average of 47 and he's priced to average 49.46 SC so you're paying for what you get. With that says, I admit that he's been showing good form in the domestic competitions of late so definitely an option worth considering, particularly so when the Sixers have 2 DGR in the first 3 rounds.

Maybe they will sign him as a LRP ?

Annoying they have the Bye the first week , Agar has had a impressive Marsh Cup so suspect he joins Big Billy , Neser & Siddle.

need to monitor Rashid's injury ahead of the West Indies test as well.

Round 5 is going to be a interesting bench balancing act with the Scorchers & Strikers both on the bye , so reluctant to start with a bench "cheapie" who might not be playing by then.
Glad someone was aware of the reference.

@7/11

hi mate , just wondering if I could get your thoughts on how you expect the Scorchers to line up.

I suspect if all are fit/available Bancroft (Test Squad ?), Livingstone , Marsh (may not be able to bowl early) Patterson (injury concerns) & Turner will take 5 of the top 6 spots which would then leave Hobson/Inglis/Whiteman for the final spot , is Green capable of playing in the Top 6 ?

Bowlers will be :-

Richardson
Jordan
Paris/Kelly
Agar
Fawad

no room for Hardie , Behrendorff & Tye both injured.

Cheers

Easy lock for me with the DGR first up.

Assuming all batsmen are fit.

Patterson
Bancroft
Marsh
Livingstone
Turner
Whiteman/Inglis
Agar
Jordan
Kelly
Richardson
Fawad

Weird sort of team given how stable they have been in the past as a franchise. I’m really only guessing what the lineup will look like, I honestly don’t have too much idea about the Scorchers this season.

Looks accurate to me although I wouldn’t be surprised if bowler come batsman Green bats at 6 in place of Whiteman/Inglis. Sounding as though Green will be right to bowl by the time the tournament starts so he is more versatile than Inglis/Whiteman.

South Africa’s T20 Mzansi Super League SC Scores for BBL listed players

Match score with average in brackets.

Match 9
Steyn: 77 (57.5)
Livingstone: 39 (53.3)
Miller 31 (31)
Hales: 0 (0)

Match 10
Vince: 131 (131)
Curran: 32 (32)
De Villiers: 31 (21)

Match 11
Morris: 90 (88.3)
Steyn: 68 (59.6)
Livingstone 61 (55.3)
Dunk: 43 (40.3)

Match 12 (Washed out)
De Villiers: 12 (18)
Hales: 10 (5)
Curran: 1 (16.5)
Miller: 0 (15.5)

Tournament has been ruined due to wet weather with 2 matches abandoned and 2 matches washed out. Some players averages have been affected as a result. Morris’ team still undefeated and on top of the ladder. If his team makes the Grand Final then he is unlikely for the first match of the BBL.

Thanks for that , yes extremely different with their retirements , players leaving and injuries yet still hard to nail their starting XI , looks like 9 should be reasonably settled , ODI selection might change things up even further.

Just have to wait and see I guess.

Thanks

Like any specialist T20 batsmen comes with the risk of whether they come off or not (0-10 or 50+) , comes out blazing or sits in the shed watching when Bryant & Cutting went berserk.

Pass for mine (prefer Sams , although not sure how Morris & Tremain will affect him) and will just cross my fingers that Lynnsanity doesn't occur twice in the opening round.

Who are your alternatives to Lynn ?

Having said all that I do have Khawaja who comes with exactly the same risks though.

At the moment it’s Lynn and Doran (loophole) vs Banton and Carey (bye).

I’ve actually slotted Lynn in for now on the back of his two epic T10 performances. Having the loophole option for VC and C each week should come in handy if I decide to go that way especially with the Hurricanes not playing the first game of the round for the first 7 rounds.

I guess it depends on your trade plans as well , whether you keep Lynn for the long haul for mine Cutting , Khawaja & Sams will all be traded out after Week 1 regardless.

I don't mind the Banton & Carey combo , trying to start Carey myself but he may have to wait (liking Turner now instead)

Yes certainly need to use the VC/C loophole to advantage in this format , fortunately enough I was able to keep hold of Nevill.

I might go back to Banton , if Morris misses the first game (looks like a long haul from Jo'burg)

that would be annoying re Morris. Seems like an ultra lock...

I think I’m going full DGR for R1 now, maybe subject to Morris’ availability. Khawaja, Henriques, Laughlin now presenting as good options. Finch, Maxwell and maybe Dre Russ ones I’d consider as non-DGR. Miller and Short just out of reach cash wise unless I sacrifice Carey bench.

Currently at:
Khawaja, Lynn, Vince, Hales, Philippe (Harris, Sutherland)
Banton (Carey)
Curran, Cutting, Morris, Laughlin, Henriques (Agar, Green)

nice looking side , is that Ashton or Wes on the bench ?

Think we have 9 similar players at the moment.
