Planned team for next year opinions?
DEF: Sam Docherty (409k), Lachie Whitfield (605k), James Sicily, Hayden Young, Zac Williams, Fischer McAsey, Sam De Koning, Lachie Ash
MID: Tom Mitchell (561k), Jack Macrae (670k) Nat Fyfe (652k), Callan Ward (397k), Dayne Beams (442k), Matt Rowell, Noah Anderson, Marlion Pickett, Sam Flanders, Dylan Stephens, Devon Robertson or Finn Maginness or Tom Green
RUCK: Brodie Grundy (707k), Max Gawn (698k), Luke Jackson
FORWARD: Josh Dunkley (633k), Isak Rankine (139k), Liam Henry, Caleb Serong, Kysaiah Pickett, Lance Franklin or Dusty, Cody Weightman, Miles Bergman
You have quite a few similar picks to me. My main observation is that there is quite a lot of potential value up forward this year, and the forward rookie pool is usually pretty shallow, so your structure could be quite different to how a lot of others line up.

Apparently a dodgy kick, and not quick. Similar to when Mathieson fell down the order a few years ago I think.
Interesting ... I haven’t been following his career but his stats indicate Mathieson hasn’t set the world alight. Played in a top side this year but didn’t notch up an SC ton this year or last.

May be a slightly better player than Mathieson. And then you gotta remember that Luke Parker similarly dropped down to about pick 40! If the player is super tough and has footy smarts, speed and kicking can be of less importance

That’s true - someone like Dane Swan comes to mind (pick 58). I just thought it was interesting that Mathieson drifted and that clubs who picked others ahead of him probably haven’t been proven wrong (yet).

Yeah I think in general slow midfielders struggle in AFL unless they have a super ability to will themselves into contests like Parker/Selwood, or they are big and tall like JPK/Cripps.
Robertson is not really a powerful bash and crash inside mid - he’s more of a Tom Mitchell type. But at the moment he lacks Mitchell’s kicking.

Haha, Mitchell is hardly renowned for his kicking either!

Claiming Dawson as “My boy” for next year. Gonna be a gun I reckon.
Hear, Hear.

From Post 372-
J Dawson:

Avg without J McVeigh in 2019: 90.27 from 15 (6/15 below 80, 10/15 below 100, 1/15 120+)

Isn't dependent on amassing a large amount of the ball evident by only 1 game above 30 disposals and 2 in excess of 25. Displays a tendency to kick rather than handball, efficient by foot as well as registering solid tackle numbers which all bode well for his SC potential.

When were positions announced for fantasy last year? I know we’re all gonna be happy to see Whitfield as a forward-mid very soon...
Think we will start to see some DPPs being officially announced over the next couple of weeks leading into the SC Gold Team Picker which will have all positions, which very very rarely ever change after that.
