Basically your asking which one of Nicholls, Ryder, Franklin and Staker will score lower.?..lol as someone needs to miss out.. Tough call
Probably put (E) on Franklin at this stage and (E) on Nicholls but keep Ryder forward.. If Nicholls scores crap I guess you can always move Cox to ruck but if you put Ryder in ruck you limit your options tomorrow as no more rucks could switch.
Cheers for that mate!! I didn't think of using Cox as the DPP RUC that I could swing. Give me many more options as you say. That's why I love this site, always great info and help.

Hey Rowsus

3 trades left + 31k

Thinking of going Watson > Douglas

Or should TMitch cover until Jobe's back?

I've also got Hanley but Staker as bench cover.
Hey Demolished,
having held Watson this long, I think you've nearly got a commitment to keep him.
Douglas would create a good POD, but he is really up and down. He went 100+ in 8/9 of games, then missed 4 in a row!
I think he's a bit unreliable, and you would be bringing him in to loophole with Mitchell.
I don't think there is enough gain in this to use one of your precious few remaining trades.
Good luck :)

Hey Rowsus,

Who is the best forward (regardless of cost) to bring in out of Walker, Roughead, Riewoldt, Harvey and Martin?
It's a tough one, I will go in order: Harvey, Martin, Roughead, Walker, Riewoldt.
Good luck :)

RUC - Maric, Nicholls (Nic Nat, Currie)
FWD - Johnson, Rockliff, Martin, Franklin, Ryder, Cox (Staker, McBean)

Who is the better option to get a score out of Nicholls or Staker??
I could DPP Ryder to RUC bench, have a look at his score and also have Buddy EMG in the FWD line. If both score well then I replace them with my donut players. By going with this method it means I must play Staker on the field.

OR

I could go with what I have currently posted at the top of this post, and EMG one of Buddy or Ryder tonight and then if they score well play the donut in the FWDF line, otherwise Staker if they score poorly. This means Nicholls must play as R2.

Hope you can understand this, cheers.

I think Oz nailed it.
Without Cox in your team I would have gone option 1.
Good luck :)

Having looked at his stats I believe he can actually turn it around now that Dangerfield is out. I'm tipping him to go back to his old scores but I'm leaning toward keeping Jobe as I only have the 3 precious trades left.

I'm also considering Murphy for TMitch?

How much cash do you have PC, initial thoughts Goodes/Ball out Walker & Roughy in but you need 111k in the bank for this,as it's last roll of the dice if you're about 30k short Hanley out instead of Goodes but no-one (not even Rowsus) can give a good answer without knowing how much cash in the bank.

Apologies - I have $6,800 in the bank.

I was kicking around the idea of Goodes to J Cameron via Staker...

Evening Rowsus, no questions for you this week, thought I'd just let you know. Was just listening to the radio, a sports program that goes through regional Australia hosted by Terry Wallace and Tony Lenoard. Terry Wallace has just said that North Melbourne Kangaroos are just FLAT TRACK BULLIES.
I do know that Terry enjoys his Supercoach, I get the feeling he has checked out this wonderful site.

This is how SC Gold sees your matched up POD's

What is best to do really comes down to how desperate you are to secure your victory.
The difference being, if you are totally desperate, you might trade out Hanley instead of Goodes.
I'm going to throw something leftfield at you, but keep Hanley in your team. If you are totally desperate, "This is my Grand Final" type stuff, let me know, and I'll look at options with Hanley out.
Here is my leftfield suggestion:
Goodes out, Staker up, Hale in!
***??!! I hear you mutter, Rowsus has gone soft in the head!
Follow me here:
Staker up removes Docherty from your POD list (as you suggested)
Hale in basically means that Hale has replaced Docherty on the list, and his projected score of 78 doesn't look like much of an improvement. BUT.......
Hale plays Richmond this week. Look at how Rucks have scored against Richmond lately:
Rnd 14 - McEvoy 120, his 5 scores leading in were: 59, 80, 73, 100, 53 - Ave 73.0!
Rnd 15 - Goldstein 131
Rnd 16 - Nicholls 121, 2nd best score of his short career
Rnd 17 - Clarke 99
Rnd 18 - Mumford 123, his 4 scores leading in were: 52, 89, 95, 77 - Ave 79.3!
Ave - 118.8, Richmond just give up big scores in the Ruck! Mainly because Maric is struggling!
I expect Hale to well and truly outscore his SC Gold projection of 78. The 2 bonuses are: Roughead might get rested soon, just like he was late last season. Secondly, Goodes to Hale makes you $46,200. Also, apart from this week, Hawthorn play before Richmond for the rest of the season*. You can use Hale's DPP to good loophole benefits to strengthen your weak Ruck line! From round 20 on, you can look at his score, and decide if you want to keep it! * - I'm making an assumption in round 23.
The $46,200 + your $6,800 give you $53k to upgrade someone.
My suggestion is Masten out, Jack in!
I think Masten will miss 2 or 3 weeks, from what I've read, so you get to move Ball to your bench, as back up, and put Jack on the ground. Ball has a career average of 75.3 against Essendon, just about his lowest opposition average! He is projected to score 98, but I think it might be closer to 90. Jack's projected score is 114, but look at his record this season!
3 of his last 4 are 120+, 6 of his last 8 are 120+, he has 12 out of 17 scores 114+ this season!
SC Gold say Goodes/Masten out to Hale/Jack will bridge your deficit by 58. My guess is, it will just about wipe out the predicted deficit, and make the game a toss of the coin.
Good luck! :)

edit - I have no idea why that big gap is there below the tables. I've cropped the tables, but it's still there!

Hi Rowsus (and anyone else who may be kind enough to assist). I am seeking guidance with respect to a few aspects of my team. Am spending so much time reading, living, breathing Supercoach at the moment that I can't see the forest for the trees as far as my team is concerned.

Am very keen to make it into the top 1% of all teams for the first time (overall position increased several hundred points on the weekend to about 5,000 due to stupid stuff up with the emergency loophole in the rucks, causing me to wear Nicholls low score and then bench Minson in order to take the guaranteed points from Gawn), but balancing this with trying to win the five leagues I'm in (currently 1st in 4 and 2nd in the other) and also being competitive for as long as possible in the US Open (very luckily scrapped home by 5 points on the weekend to make it into round 3).

Feel that I have a reasonably good team as I have a few injured premiums who will hopefully be back soon, as well as having reasonable DPP cover (with noticeable exception of D/M eligible player in the Mids), but know that I need to bring in a few more higher scoring players. Problem is, I'm trying to hold off on trading, so long as I don't wear a donut, in order to have best chance in the finals. I know, however, that in order to move up the rankings - and to be a chance of winning any more rounds of the US Open - I need to make a couple of trades. Hate the idea of trading scoring players when there could be injuries around the corner (or the injured premiums - Hanley/Dangerfield/NicNat might be out for longer than expected) but need to increase my scoring too.

Are there any trades or strategy that you think could satisfy my many (and somewhat opposing aims).

Thinking that I need another premium (or close to premium) for defence (L. Henderson/Dixon? - worried about Shaw although not sure if worry is justified) and also need to strengthen my ruck - either through purchasing a premium ruck (Kreuzer?) or through DPP with Cox/Rowe. Would like one more premium midfielder - (Beams/Jack? - still worried about Griffen). Also like the idea of getting Dusty Martin in - either in forwards or mids but not sure if not having him might be a potentially positive POD. See, I told you that I'm over-thinking it!

Keen to realise the cash that is stored in players like Terlich, Clisby, Nicholls and possibly Viney (thinking that I might keep Gawn as R3 - although could possibly achieve same cover with Cox/Rowe (McBean??) DPP and generate cash from trade of Gawn to McBean). Everywhere I look, everything I read I keep finding reasons not to trade someone into my team - they had bad game in round 6 or some similar stupidity - so I really need an objective view/s to steer me in the right direction.

I currently have 5 trades remaining and $355,800 cash on hand.

My team is:

Defence: Goddard, Heppell, Gibbs, McKenzie, Hanley (inj), Terlich E: Staker, Clisby.

Mids: Ablett, Pendles, Swan, Selwood, Dangerfield (inj), Barlow, Fyfe, T. Mitchell E: Viney, Neade

Rucks: Minson, NicNat (inj) E: Gawn, Nicholls

Forwards: Walker, Cox, Bartel, Rockliff, SJ, JJK E: Rowe, Richards

Many thanks in advance for any thoughts that you might kindly be able to provide.

Hi Foxy,
first of all, congratulations, it's a good looking team, and you're well placed to achieve your goals. :)
I think you need to make 2 trades, and then wait and see what happens.
My own opinion is, that NicNat is cooked. I will be very surprised if he plays too many more games this season, and if he does, whether he'll post any meaningful scores. They don't achieve much by playing him. Mathematically, they can make the finals, but form and draw-wise, they're done for the season. I know what Worsfold said about no early surgeries, but that will change with another loss or two.
You may be suffering from "paralysis by analysis". In other words, over thinking things so much, it makes it nearly impossible to make a move, let alone a confident one.
Your analysis of your team is pretty much spot on. You need to fix your D6, and your R2/F6. You've got some great DPP's set up, and I wouldn't be too concerned about missing the D/M link.
Looking at your tradeable players, I would list it as:
Terlich, Clisby, Viney, NicNat, Nicholls (Gawn would be here too, but it's not unreasonable to want him at R3). Looking at their prices and B/E's:
NicNat - $450,200 - 132
Terlich - $416,200 - 133
Nicholls - $401,900 - 125
Viney - $284,500 - 53
Clisby - $243,700 - 23
The bottom 2 aren't going to lose much, the top 3 will drop in price at their next game, and have injury queries.
I don't think your concerns about Shaw are justified. He is the obvious choice for Def Prem. I think you'd be more worried about Dixon, if you got him in. There has to be some doubts about him getting through the season from here.
I think there is no need to sit on cash for now. Don't be afraid to use what you have, if it makes 2 genuine upgrades. I don't often suggest the obvious players, but in your case it really looks like you'd be best served by Shaw and Goldstein. They cost $1,036,400 and subtracting your $355,800 means we are looking for $680,600 to get them both in. Even though Terlich will drop a little cash, and Clisby will still make some, I think if Terlich is picked this week you trade NicNat/Clisby to Goldstein/Shaw. Terlich doesn't go under 70 too often, and Clisby doesn't go over it too often. Terlich makes a much better D7 for you. With Hanley still out, you can look at Terlich's score and decide between him and Staker. That's pretty good for D6 until Hanley is back.
From there, I'd wait and see what's happening with Nicholls. You don't want him to lose too much cash before you turn him into McBean. This will give you the cash to turn Viney into Jack K. and leave your team looking like this:

Def: Goddard, Heppell, Gibbs, McKenzie, Shaw, Hanley - Terlich, Richards (+ Staker)
Mid: Ablett, Pendles, Swan, Jelwood, Danger, Barlow, Fyfe, Jack - Mitchell T, Neade (+ Walker, Rocky, SJ, Bartel)
Ruc: Goldstein, Minson - Gawn, McBean (+ Cox, Rowe)
Fwd: Walker, Cox, Bartel, Rocky, SJ, JJK - Staker, Rowe (+ Neade, McBean, Richards)

That's a very strong looking team, with good coverage. You have at least 2 useful back ups on every line, bar your Fwd line, and lots of loopholing possibilities. That Fwd problem might be your "weakness", and why you'd keep that trade up your sleeve. If it really concerns you about the back up, bring in Harvey instead of Jack. You then can loophole him and Mitchell, and he covers 4 of your starting 6 Fwds in case one is out, and Staker is needed elsewhere.
I'd wait on doing the Nicholls McBean trade a week or 2 if you can, just in case things go pear-shaped. Keep an eye on the prices, so you are sure you can get the Viney upgrade that you want.
From there, I'd hold the last trade and the $30-40K until the last week, just in case.
I hope this helped, even though it's not very imaginative. Sometimes, for some Coaches, the obvious picks/suggestions are obvious for a reason. You have the opportunity to bring in the number 1 Ruck and Defender. There doesn't seem to be a good reason to not do it.
Good luck :)

REALLY AWESOME SUGGESTED CHANGES BY ROWSUS GO HERE!!!

Good luck! :)
Rowsus, I owe you several beers if we ever get a chance to shake hands in the pub :D

I like that plan you have put up there - I need a left field move, and I think what you have put up is not only left but also class. He has a better team than me (better SC player basically) and my injuries have come at the wrong time, with a full team I may have had a chance. Maybe.

It is my grand final - my mate and I have lunch once a week in town and basically the conversation goes like this: "How's the new house?" "Good". "Wife?" "Good". "New baby?" "Good." "How was your Supercoach league game on the weekend?..." - and that is where the real conversation starts.

He told me my very first SC team was rubbish (and oh it was rubbish!) and suggested changes, so as a thank-you, I convinced him to play SC this year... He also said he would knock me out of the finals about 6 weeks ago when we realised we were playing in the last league game of the season - I tried not to let that situation come about, but guess what, I am a noob and am probably lucky to get to 8th in the first place. If I win and get in the finals but then get knocked out, my goal has been achieved and I will have weekly lunch bragging rights for the rest of the year! If I lose, then I had a crack and 2014 will come around soon enough!

Edit - I just re-read your analysis Rowsus and damn it is good - love it how you rip apart the numbers. My job title is 'Analyst' so take it as a compliment! ;)

Well, gosh! Thanks, PC. Now you're just making me blush!
I hope you win your bragging rights over your friend. Sometimes in SC that becomes our last remaining goal, and even though it is the small prize, it can still be a juicy one! :)
Good luck :)

edit - I look forward to catching up for a beer one day. :)

Hi Rowsus,
I have one trade left. I plan to keep it, particularly if a backline premium goes down for some weeks.
Nothing jumps out at me as something I should do, but if I was to use it what do you think I should do, 33.4k in the bank.
I have gone blind staring at my side..like a few of us I guess.

Hi Rowsus, I'm really liking my chances of chasing down TheDimmaWits over the next 5 rounds and after a few comparisons this is how our line averages stack up with our strongest 22 out on the field (screen):

His backs ave: 94.94 , mine:98.6. His mids: 114.04 , mine:119.96 , His rucks: 107.56 , mine:107.56 and His fwds: 105.22 , mine: 106.33

I feel he certainly isn't the biggest threat and will lose the number 1 rank next week or soon after. I closed the gap on him over the weekend by 64 points and have been reeling in the current leader (obviously it changes) by just under 90 points each week for the past 5 weeks - my team has averaged 2474 for the past 4 weeks, my current rank is 25th.

My current squad is:

Def: Godd, Hepp, Hibb, Hanley, Gibbs, Shaw (Staker, L.Brown)

Mids: GAJ, Pendles, Beams, Swan, Selwood, Griffen, Barlow, Cotchin (JPK, Atkins Mid-Fwd)

Rucks: Minson, Cox (Nicholls, Naismith)

Fwds: Boomer, Dusty, SJ, Bartel, JJK, Rocky (Daniher, Oxley Fwd-Def)

My question is: Pending Hanley's injury time on the sideline should I turn him into another gun def OR look at trading Nicholls>Goldy as most the above ranked teams have him and his firing big time?

To Jakob and Courtesans,
I have to go out for around 4-5 hours. I'm going on a bike ride with a friend to Skaevinge.
I will look at your teams, and have answers for you when you get up in the morning. :)
