Very similar to mine. Only differences:
Heazlett/Stekette v Sams/Laughlin = 95 v 92

Who are you making "c"?
atm it's Curran for me. His form hasn't been great in Sth Africa but he averaged around 100 in the T20 Vitality Blast this year. And, if I remember correctly, he went massive in his 2nd game last year.
Yeah I'm going with Curran too

As a heat fan -> He hit two fours and a six with top edges (No idea how Bryant didn’t catch that). Did not middle a ball the whole innings. Even Laughlin middle a few. Then bowled a full toss that got caught, bowled against the heats inability to bat against spin (also bowled mostly against our 6-11), also did not turn the ball as a spinner but did a good ball against Steketee, was good in the field. Luck was not in heats favour and Green on stats alone performed as his five year contract would suggest however how he got those stats is more a reflection on Heats bad play.
3 of Heats most destructive batters were in the shed when he bowled. Easy for the ER bonus

Long-time lurker without ever posting.

There is no doubt that Sams is nothing even close to the level of talent as Lynn or Khawaja. However with the way BBL scoring works he is so much more valuable than nearly any other player, because he has the opportunities unlike nearly anyone else.

One mistake for a pure batsmen and they've got a failed game. However for a death fast bowling all-rounder on the weakest fast bowling line-up in the comp, there are just so many opportunities to score points. Even when he goes for a Golden Duck and his first over goes for 20, he still has 12+ balls to salvage something.

also this game is essentially entirely luck, perhaps with the exception of how many DGW players you have each week.

A wicket from a top edge off a half tracker scores the same as a perfect inswinging yorker.
Interesting thoughts. If a wicket is caught, that wicket is worth 35, If it is bowled, it;s worth only 25.
Perhaps when a player is caught, the bowler should only receive 15?

I don't think those holding Sams should despair just yet.
He is very hit or miss. His games last year:
Good: Game 1 - 34 off 21 balls; 3/5 off 2 overs
Good: Game 2 - 28/11; 3/30 off 4
Bad: Game 3 - 11/8; 0/54 off 4
Good: Game 4 - 15/8; 2/24 off 4
Bad: Game 5 - 5/6; 0/36 off 3
Good: Game 6 - 42/25; 1/28 off 3.2
Bad: Game 7 - DNB; 1/38 off 3
Bad: Game 8 - 0/3; 1/8 off 1.3
????: Game 9 - 18/13; no result
Good: Game 10 - 2/4; 3/29 off 4
Bad: Game 11 - 2/5; 0/30 off 2
So-so: Game 12 - 10/13; 1/13 off 3
Bad: Game 13 - 2/3; 0/8 off 1
Bad: Game 14 - 7/7; 0/13 off 1
With good/bad/so-so referring to his probable SC score he had:
Good: 5 games; Bad: 7 games; So-so: 1 game; ?????: 1 game

At least in a double game round he has a 2nd chance.

The biggest worry like the end of last season is that he's not bowling his full compliment of overs. If Thunder put up a tiny total it'll be even worse

I'm not going to argue with that. That is simply the game. Green to me felt like he got the right answer (points) with the wrong equation (lackluster execution apart from fielding). However, this game highlights how much the point system is skewed to the bowlers and that the focus should be on consistent bowlers and pick POD batsmen who are in form like Ferguson.

yes, on average, definitely a bowlers game. I think ferg was the top points scorer last year for a pure bat, ranked around 25th-ish
But we all play the same game...

To approach the Sams issue from a different angle... If the Thunder are prepared to play three spinners at the Gabba, and Morris isn't available yet... Is he even guaranteed a place going forward? Would think that basically puts him and Tremain in a battle for one spot!

Would’ve thought so. I think it’s pretty clear Morris would come in for McAndrew given he only bowled 1 over. Nair, Morris, Green and Sams all allrounders which gives them such luxury.

Sixers rarely go without two spinners, so would be surprised to see them pick Kerr over Manenti.

Also, a previous post from you mentioned you had 1st grade experience, curious what club you played for?
Played for about five years, for a couple of different clubs. Went to England to give it a crack, and then gave up and got a real job after that...

Played in a couple of combined 1st grade sides vs combined Shires and vs the Sixers, but wasn’t anything special.
