LOL, if it was an actual entered team, damn straight I would! As it is a theoretical team, even if it was top 10 now, I would stay the course to see where it finished.

Hey Rowsus. Do or die this week, need the win. 2 trades and $12,700. I know my opponent has plenty of trades left and these are his unique players:
Def - Hibberd, Enright, Pittard(e) (me - Hanley, Dixon, Webster (e))
Mid - Jelwood, Hodge, Bartel (I have him fwd) Crouch, Carter (e) (me - Deledio, Jack, JPK, Priddis, KMartin (e))
Ruck - Leuy, Grundy (e), Grimley (e) (me - Maric, Nicholls (e), Currie (e))
Fwd - Walker, Martin, NRoo, Caff(e), Daniher (e) (me - Bartel, Buddy, Pav, Staker (e), Rowe (e))
I will no doubt need to downgrade somewhere to make enough cash to put towards my last trade. Just not sure what line I should be improving. Do I go Thurlow to Richards and try to get Minson in for Nicholls (thus moving Cox forward which means the 'worst premium' forward will be benched. Or do I look at upgrading Priddis or Mitchell to say Dusty?

I've spent a lot of time looking at your situation, Bobbie.
I think you're sitting around 65 points down at the moment, but I haven't come up with a set of trades I'm happy with yet.
One course of action I think you should consider, is JJK out. The problem is, who replaces him, or Cox if he comes down on the DPP. Hopefully your opponent keeps JJK, and you get to match your new player against him.
A lot really depends on whether Nicholls is selected, too. I have a leftfield plan, but a lot depends on how "desperate" you want to be.
I will give it more thought, but will probably not have a final suggestion until Thursday, when we see the teams.

How about Thurlow to Richards and Nicholls to Minson (haven't done the sums so not sure if it's even affordable). Cox can go forward via Rowe, thus replacing JJK with big Will. (JJK to bench for coverage.)
Or perhaps leave the rucks and go for another gun mid like Griff?

I have 3 trades remaining and $117,800 left.
If everyone is named, should I just make the 1 trade (Nicholls -> cheapest ruck) and use the money and final remaining 2 trades for next week ?

I like your plan of raising cash this week, and upgrading next week. Definitely the safest option.
I think I'd be more inclined to cash in Cloke or Staker. Use Nicholls next week to get Goldstein, and look at your opponent to see who your other upgrade may be. When you upgrade Nicholls obviously you bring Cox down onto your Fwd's.

Playing this week against a mate.. our teams are pretty similar so comes down to 10 v 10 unique players.
I have:
Hanley, Heppell, Barlow, Cotchin, Deledio, Priddis, Minson, Rockliff, Cloke and Pavlich (staker an emergency in the backline)
He has:

I have 2 trades and not much cash so was considering trading Nicholls off the bench to Grundy to make some money, then Saturday night look at how my players have performed and work out if I need to use the last trade or can try and ride it out and pinch a win. Seems a massive risk given if his players perform on I'm cooked but I'm otherwise unsure of how best to approach this round, get a win and hopefully have something in the tank for the next few weeks! My current emergencies are staker (def), Mitchell (mid), Nicholls (ruc) and Lee (fwd).

The obvious trade is T Mitchell to Watson, but now very worried about no backline bench.
Thinking outside the square about Clisby to S Burgoyne, last 3 scores, 90, 102, 103.
Could play him off the bench (e) and bring Thurlow on the field if he goes big.
Have pretty good cover everywhere else and would probably play Scotland in front of T Mitchell.

thanks for your patience, though I'm not sure I'm going to be much help. But I'll try.
I guess you got one bit of good news, seeing as you can't loophole in your Mids, it's good your opponent can't either!
As a one off, "I must win this week, and it doesn't matter what happens next week" suggestion I would really have gone out on a limb. JJK out, Cox down Lobbe in. Not just chasing last weeks points. I really think he can beat up on Gorringe this week. He has beaten up on some week Ruck combo's this year, and recorded over 50 hit outs last week! If he gets 50 again this week, he should score around 120 easy. The big problem is, he then plays Sandi/ZClarke next week, and Warnock/Kreuzer the next! Probably back to his 80 point level against them, which won't win you a Prelim or GF (probably)!
Given you want more than a one week wonder, I think the best I can come up with is: K Martin out for Prudden, JPK out for Griffen. K Mart to Prudster gives you $136,600 for upgrading, PLUS gives you the best loophole option for your Mids. Griffen's draw is unbeatable, so you get to put him in, and loophole Mitchell/Priddis/Deledio etc.... JPK is stuggling a bit, but you could also use Deledio to get there.
In the choice between plucking 2 sideways moves to players with an easy match, OR going a genuine upgrade and gaining some loophole capapability, I think the second one is better. If it was a one-off I'd say the opposite, but you are trying to win 3 games from here, not one.
Sorry it wasn't the Earth shattering leftfield approach you might have been looking for!
