This morning I was trying to picture myself Coaching the 'Gades.
I would have sent Finch out with the message.
Anchor the innings. We're looking for 65 to 70 from 50 balls from you, if you're still there after that, go nuts.
That's close to what he's done.

You are a good judge.

Very similar to what IPL teams do , get 1 of the openers to anchor then go bang after 15 overs.

Unfortunately the trend in the BBL is that a 20 ball 30 is sufficient enough.

Oh well , they might catch on in a season or 3.

There was a school of thought some years ago that T20 scores hadn't got as high as they might be expected to in the analytics age because wickets were over-valued by batsmen: that is to say, there was still an element of preservation that didn't need to exist.

I think this tournament has showed that it's still vitally important to keep a partnership going: losing wickets has a massive tangible effect on run rates even if it's just not ticking the strike over as reliably as a set pair.

Spot on , as much as they go on about tempo batting and helter skelter , their is still time for normal cricket shots , eliminate the dots (30 per innings) , rotate with 1's and 2's.

Not everything has to go to the boundary.

Not everything can go to the boundary.

Unfortunately most have grown up watching Gilly & Haydos , and will never be them.

Play smarter.

The mentality of most Australian batsmen sadly needs to change
