Yeah currently running a very similiar setup

Rowell is the one for me that will likely determine if I start Lloyd or Dawson/Houston

My current team is very similar to this. Differences are in Def I have Stewart instead of Doc, in the Mids I have Zerret instead of Danger and in the Fwd I have Steven instead of Smith. I could use up cash and have Danger or even Dunk if I wanted but holding off wth that for now. I like cash at the start. It comes in handy.

Isn't Stewart injured - pretty sure he's been fighting the dreaded groin this pre-season so keep and eye on that

Looks like we have a very similar team. Sorry if U have already answered this NT but what’s ur thought process on smith? And why have u chosen him over Steven? I have been trying to manipulate my team so I can get Rowell to Steven.

More a place holder for structure for me. Smith has better JS, Steven higher ceiling - age and role favour Smith at the moment and both have their injury risks.

I just ahven't seen anything on Steven in any Geelong training reports so Smith is holding this spot for structure.

Seeing that everyone has the same team this year, I decided to put together a team where no player has 10% ownership or higher (I'm not going to keep this). To make it more unique, I limited it to players $550K or less.

I'm sure this could be improved, I spent literally a couple of minutes on this. Only six rookies on field. Not expecting anything from the bench as I went as cheap as possible there. $165,100 left in the bank.

As a few have noted, teams are starting to look very similar ... so I thought I'd try something different.

I took out all my $250k plus players and put a line through them, then picked from there.

D: Lloyd, Daniel, Ryan, Doedee + 4

M: Fyfe, Kelly, Dunkley, Bont, Treloar, Merrett + 5

R: NicNat, Jacobs + 1

F: Walters, Wingard, Lynch, Steven, Hill + 3

I actually like this premium structure if the rookies allow :-

Laird , Sicily , Docherty
Macrae , Fyfe , J Kelly , Cripps , Oliver
Whitfield * , Martin * , Steven * , Smith *

Byes are 2-5-5

Round 13: Target Danger , Neale & a Rd 12 Premium Defender

Round 14: Target Lloyd , ? & Heeney/Walters
Think I am "trying" to hard to "force" that 14th player from the get go

Laird , Sicily , Docherty
MacRae , Fyfe , J Kelly , Cripps , Oliver
Grundy , Gawn
Whitfield, Martin , Smith

looking at the averages , Whitfield could be the one to quickly detail my season if I don't start him

just hope the rookies are strong enough to field 9 from the start.

Hello Everyone

What do you think of my latest iteration of my team.

I have my fingers crossed that Rayner has a breakout year and Prestia being Richmond best 'pure midfielder' as my pod.

Solid Def and Fwd lines. Mids are the query. Understand your Prestia selection and you are backing in your opinion which the way it should be. Kelly is great player but injury prone so a risk. Then add in Smith (who may or may not get a 90 ave) and the risk increases. Also it is personal preference how low you go with cash. I mean you will not change your whole team to save cash but with $2400 left you cannot upgrade a $117 dud rookie to a $123k one that is on fire post rd 2.

Over the years I've really only been able to start 12 -13 premiums max and maybe slide a mid price in there. Usually find myself caught in between and the high end rookie picks like Walsh last year and Rowell this year that forces changes. CD do it very well I reckon, every year I find I'm in the same predicament looking for an extra $30k - $50k for my 'ultimate' starting team.

FWIW I had a dream last night that Macrae went 601SC points round one and Dunkley 90 - really very odd! Not happy either as they play Collingwood and Macrae must have kicked 25+ goals and laid 40 odd tackles. Obviously wasn't many SC points left over for the rest of the players. And I didn't have the VC/C on him which sucked.

Geez might have to swap Grundy out for English then if Macrae dominated that much , hopefully your dreams don't often come true.

I have just ended up adding Whitfield in and end up 3-5-2-3 including Docherty & Smith.

Need to research the likes of Doedee & Roberton more.

I have Rowell sitting there , sometimes I like the perceived extra JS from a rookie especially early in the season , nothing worse than getting to Round 3-4 and suddenly you already have some rookies not playing.

Obviously rookies will dictate our final structures and starting teams.

Hopefully the likes of Hill & Cockatoo show enough in JLT to maybe combine as a "false" 14th premium until upgrade time.

Thanks for your response

Defs: Laird, Sicily, Doch, Roberton, Hill + rookies (Gould, McCleannan, Rivers)
Mids: Fyfe, Cripps, Bont, Oliver, Rowell + rookies (Pickett, Valente, McHenry, Sharp, Mead, North)
Rucks: Gawn, Grundy (Comben)
Forward: Whitfield, Dusty, Heeney, Smith, Steven, Cockatoo + rookies (Rankine, King)

Hard to really lock into a structure without knowing where the rookies are. I have a few premiums on each line I’m happy to chop and change. Mids especially, I think it’s only Cripps and Oliver I’m completely comfortable on. I’m fairly bullish on Heeney as a starter. Laird, Whitfield, Fyfe, Bont can all be chopped and changed. Gawn to Jacobs/Naismith is a structure I’m open to as well.

Running one less mid atm than most as I keep getting stuck with Cogs when I try to add a mid. Not too fussed about cookie cutter sides as I think it’s the trading that really sets you apart! I also love the midpricer fallen premium type :)

Thank you for the feedback, rookies are placeholders at this juncture.

Kelly is a placeholder, so is subject to change depending on other lines requirements (it's easier to go down in value).

Regards
