Unless there's something I'm missing, this strategy makes no sense. If you pick one straight up you might get the lower of the two, but if you bench both you definitely will!
Only benefit would be that you only get an ae for a score of 1 or more, so if someone scored 0 you get the better score.

I guess to a degree, it worked first week of finals, I think they had Ferguson and Khawaja on bench with 2 starting donuts on field. The 2 players on the bench on that occasion had to be taken as a pair or none.

When Khawaja went 90 ish and Ferguson 70 ish, it turned out to be 2 'cheap' scores that could be used as on field scores without needing more expensive scores. But the key to this working was that they had to be taken as a pair. If Khawaja got 150 and Ferguson 2, then both scores would have to avoided.

It worked on that occasion, but I would imagine this would be pretty rare.

The chances of one scoring a bankable and the other 0, would be pretty slim.

But now that no looping is possible, I agree, it seems like a strange tactic.

Why would you avoided a combined score of 152 between 2 players ?

certainly not a abundance of players averaging 76+

I looped both benches in the Hurricanes v Thunder game , anything over 80 combined on each bench I was taking , just need to have the figure in mind what to take or not to take.

the reason I suggested a deliberate donut for Thursday was I have no confidence at all in the 11th player , so thought try something different and just play 2 on the bench and they might both Jag something worthwhile each , if not too bad.

nothing ventured , nothing gained.

Cummins might just make it easy enough that we all field the same XI and comes down to captains choice

I don’t understand Herbie why you would do that when there is only one match.

Why would you start a donut and hope both players go ok so the lower score is a good one? Just start one of those two players on field and at least give yourself a 50% chance of the higher score!

No idea who to start , might just play 10 ?

So was thinking if I can't split 2 , just pick 2 and let the game decide for me.

Not going to win the comp , so doesn't really matter.

Just a thought....
I cannot see anyway thunder beat stars.
Adelaide were a big go...thunder are pretty thin.
Only positives are they have hales, morris, uzzie and sams playing well.

Looks like sixers stars in sydney. A pretty tame final series but the 2 best teams deserve it.

Official Team of the Tournament as picked by the coaches announced

Maxwell (C) ✓
Wells ✓
Marsh , M ✓ - 4,5 & 6 can all float
Curran ✓
Rashid Khan ✓

Rauf - 3 OS players , limit of 2 per team

Personally would have SOS or Renshaw at 3 and Jhye in for Rauf
