As I searched back through this thread I saw a few mentions of Jarrod Lyons. Just wondering if @Connoisseur or someone had a statistical reason as to how he went 116.5 post bye last season?

Simply more mid time? When Dunkley had a similar transformation, second half of 2018, people were all over it (albiet he was younger and forward eligible so less risk, but he still scored like a super-premo mid).

If he starts like he finished, he is a stellar pick. What has changed from last year that makes people think it won't happen?

Good question! Surely Neale or Zorko get the tag. 27yo, so in his prime years. $535,400.

So more... everything (basically)? 5 more possessions a game that were all contested and he found a way to hit the scoreboard pretty well for a mid.
Probably didn't hurt that the Lions went on a 10 game winning streak post-bye as well.

I know he will more than likely end up being traded out if I do start him but I can't get rid of sam walsh

I think he's to good even though his body type don't usually succeed in 2nd years if anyone will be an exception to the rule it will be him

He reminds me a lot of Jack Macrae, just has the natural ability to find the footy.

Macrae went from averaging 61 in his first season (2013) to averaging 100 in his second year (2014). I think as long as Walsh can keep getting his hands on the ball, as he did in his first year, I'm not sure his body type will affect him to much, and I think he could replicate Macrae in having a really good second year.

hopefully (at this stage) he will be better than macrae

he is a once in a generation talent thats for sure shame he's too good for Carlton and Brisbane couldn't have drafted him in 2017

and with smith, docherty and even Lynch being as cheap as they are you can't really go full on gnr and you will have money leftover and its how you use the extra money that will decide how good or bad you go this year

another thing going for Cripps is that he's lost a bit of weight and is quicker now
I'm still not sure if this is a good thing or not. He is the one man midfield at Carlton still and got tagged and teamed up on a lot in the back 2/3 of last season. Will be interesting to see if this helps him or hinders him.

Went at 110 from rounds 9-23 with 6 sub 90 scores once De Boer showed he was taggable.

Plays GWS the round before his bye this year and has a good looking draw after that so looks like the perfect bye round trade in target to me.

Carlton has started its pre-season camp on the Sunshine Coast with a sculpted Sam Walsh unveiling a rippling six-pack on Monday.

even more reason to pick him now lol

I really like Tim Kelly as a pick this year saw an article about him being exactly what west coast need and if he does get a tag then he can go forward and kick goals :D

I'm always wary of players that have just signed big "contracts" .... in the back of my mind is that the drive to be the best sometimes diminishes once they have got it ... not a reason to not pick him though !!

I think someone at WCE steps up to super premium, just not sure who?
Yeo could be the one.
As an eagles supporter i sure hope you're right! Now i haven't delved into in depth research here, just observation from watching all the games and quick Googling.

Shuey 29yo, unlikely to be him guessing 105 ave most likely
Gaff, 27yo, his outside game will see some big scores especially at home but i think he will always be a 105ish payer
Yeo, 26yo, has all the potential for breakout if played wholly through the guts but always a risk (SC wise) he gets played out of position especially down back when match ups dictate. A player you get on after a price drop from one of those games imo
Kelly 25yo we all know his story. Very excited to have him , could end up anywhere from 95-115 ave.
Sheed 24yo, really interests me 11th pick, 95 games breakout territory? but with Kelly inbound i think he suffers most for points

In all honesty i won't be starting any eagles mids but will watch closely for upgrades. Kelly is my pick for the next level however.

There was a write up on Sheed a day or 2 ago, he was worried about his mid time with Kelly in. He's been training with the forwards to add another string to his bow, so time spent between mids and forwards would be very enticing. Also JJK has had his best preseason in a while, so he could be a risky pick.
