Talking with Swan's supporters they definitely think Gould will take more points off Lloyd as he plays deeper robbing Lloyd of those cheap + 6's moreso than Dawson who plays higher up the ground.
I hope he gets a game, this is Sydney's best 22 from another site.

The term "intercept defenders" annoys me a touch ... after all it generally results from a poor midfield entry and/or to a so-so lead from a Forward ... one or both are generally at fault but most of these guys aren't paid peanuts to execute in their chosen profession ...

Fast forward a few years to a USA based waiver system and these guys might pay more attention to the execution of their supposed skills / roles ...

Lots of room for improvement IMO in this particular area for all teams ... goal kicking % is an also an issue ...
Re goal kicking %, I know that the Tigers defenders/team deliberately set up to push the oppo forwards wide to reduce their goal kicking %. It was very evident when they played the Lions in the QF. Conversely the Tigers have been working very hard on increasing their goal kicking % by getting the ball to players that are in better scoring positions and are very proactive on this front (but we don't talk about Georges' conversion rate)

If he's playing, there's a good chance he'd actually be taking the kick outs over Lloyd and Dawson.
Big responsibility for a first year player, would be a bloody handy rookie if true. I won’t be surprised if Lloyd plays a bit higher up the ground this year. As you said he’s great at getting those cheap ones but he leaves a fair bit to be desired when it comes to actual defending.

First thing I notice is McCartin at CHB. With Buddy doubtful I can't see how they wouldn't play him Fwd and even when Buddy is right I think they would still have McCartin Fwd. Opens up a spot for Gould.

C Blakely:

Career Contested Possesion Avg: 7.17 from 60

SC avg when contested possessions equal/exceed 8: 94.78 from 27 (9/27 below 80, 14/27 below 100, 4/27 120+)
SC avg when contested possessions below 8: 68.64 from 33 (22/33 below 80, 30/33 below 100, 0/33 120+)
I think i was probably the only schmuck here who punted on him last year (for disastrous results) so won't be going near him until we see an absolutely huge preseason, backed by Longmuir saying something very similar to what Hinkley said about Houston.

Yes, still bitter :ROFLMAO:

Yeah, I wouldn’t be overly confident of Gould lining up round 1.

The major knock on him is that he has no tank whatsoever so they might want him to develop that a bit before playing in the Seniors.

I had also heard in the lead up to the draft that he doesn’t listen to instruction and goes outside of the gameplan.

He may have learnt from his mistakes and worked on his tank in the off-season but the coaching staff would be well aware of his flaws.

He would have been in top 10 calculations if it wasn’t for the points above.

I really do hope he plays round 1 though as we need some cheap rookies in DEF.

Yeah no doubt a big responsibility, and might not happen at all, I just remember seeing a highlights package of his where a lot of it was just showing Gould doing some damaging kick-ins, so I wouldn't be surprised if Sydney take advantage of such a 'highlight-worthy' asset (if/when he plays, of course)

How good was he. I'm pretty sure i benched him for a rookie (correctly) on more than one occasion as well!

In hindsight, taking that type of punt was never going to be beneficial but my season was shot anyway so i figured why not....well i know why not now lol
I can't remember exactly (mainly cos I don't want to) but I might have gone Milera > Blakely.

Why not ... playing for SYD is pretty simple IMO ... you either play the game script or don't bother turning up to training ....

Horse for all his shortfalls is probably one of the best for playing the "right" rookies early ... and getting games into them ...

His blights IMO are all around Buddy, Tippet and Titch IMO .... take them away and he is as good as any other coach ...
- Possibly got rid of Hanners at the right time too to o***et it a touch ... still ****ty he let Titch go though ...
