Had done this at one stage for a laugh. Updated it a bit (10-min job), probably a fair few missing / out of date (think there's a 7kgs now?).
Couldn't embed as a proper table, guess something about tables in BBCode has changed, could only insert them as images.
Judges decision final, no correspondence will be entered into, all queries to be directed to dontemailmeijustworkhere@dontemailme.com

Well done. I've noted the page number for reference in the future. Yeah, pity it couldn't be loaded as an excel file, where I could save it and play around with it (like put the nicknames in alphabetical order), but it will help me.

What are people’s thoughts on Titch’s likely fitness base and the possibly impact on his TOG and possible “rests” during the season?

Played 61% TOG in Marsh 1 which it totally understandable as I’m sure the Hawks are just trying to ease him in. But, once the real thing starts, should we expect him to have a fitness base which will allow him to run out full games strongly or is he likely to be a bit underdone? If underdone, what impact might this have on his ceiling?

Also, what are the chances that he will be given a week off “here & there” to freshen him up or to manage soreness and not put too much stress on his leg?

He certainly looked pretty good the other night, but will it take him a bit of time to get back to 100%
I think the chance of him playing 22 games is zero and maybe a 50-50 chance of playing 20 games.

Given his value to their midfield it would be a near certainty that they'll give him at least a couple of games off to manage him, but if he pulls up sore at any point it's almost guaranteed he'll have the next week off in addition to those likely planned "breaks".

If he averages 115-120+ again then we're probably looking at a Fyfe-esque type of situation with high output and a few donuts.

You could be right and he may miss games, I'm no expert. It's just I am thinking the opposite.

If Mitchell's broken leg is healed, then it is healed and the only concern is his fitness (and touch). It was a clean break and I haven't read anywhere that he had any set backs. The break happened over 12 months ago, so that seems plenty of time for a complete heal. He was looked after by experts with the aim that he will be ready to play round 1 (and onwards), and he appears to be on target.

I don't see him re-breaking his leg (besides a freak accident that could happen to any player), so I don't see a risk there.
He may be rested more in the early games, but then I see him being one of the top Midfielders in 2020.

Outlook (from a broken leg)
If treated promptly and properly, a broken leg usually will regain normal function.
  • Because the major bones of the leg support our weight, at least 6-8 weeks is usually required before the bone is healed.

Tom Mitchell returns to the training track..........the incident was only two and a half weeks ago now. (I'm) still waiting for swelling to get out of my leg and just doing little things like walking, putting weight through my leg again," Mitchell said.

.........is continuing his recovery from a broken leg, ........... so everything I'm going to need to be able to do to play, I've started doing it,.........."I would definitely like to get back to the standard I was playing at, but I'm not sure how long that's going to take coming off a big injury."

Tom Mitchell on track to return for the Hawks' season opener for 2020...…..."The plan at this point is that he'll be ready to play some time in the pre-season games and be ready for round one," Hawthorn assistant coach Sam Mitchell said...…... Tom Mitchell gets through his first serious AFL hitout in more than 500 days unscathed.…...….sitting out the final term on the bench.
"I was a little bit rusty with my hands and things like that, but the body's fine and pulled up really well," Mitchell said post-match.
"I hit a few bodies and pulled up fine from a few big collisions and got through the game unscathed, that's the main thing."

Can talk from experience on this matter ...

Whilst the bones will heal it becomes a mental barrier to overcome .....

- Every little knock you initially worry about ....

- Took me at least a year to get over that .... wore shin guards etc but one day I got a hard unexpected knock again at the break point (fast paced hockey ball) and all was fine ....

- Never looked back after that ... just takes time ...

- Was why I asked if it was his kicking leg ....

I wasn't referring to him re-breaking his leg at all - more his conditioning and the general soreness that may become a factor as the season drags on after being out of the game for 12 months.

It is difficult to come back from a serious leg break as we've seen many times in the past, but he does have the advantage of being a lot more of a ground-level footballer than some other notables who have dealt with similar injuries.

I don't doubt that his output will be up there (I did note he would be 115-120+), but I do think the Hawks will take opportunities to rest him, or may even be mapping out his season on that basis, and thus I'm viewing him in a manner similar to Fyfe at this stage.

Barlow's a great example of a player returning from a broken leg.

Went 116 from 13 games in his debut year before breaking his leg. Then 83 from 9, 95 from 22 and then back to 110+ from 21 games which was 2.5 years after breaking his leg. Took Barlow a full season before he reverted to his prior scoring.

IIRC you could also add Vossy and Lade ... both went on to win premierships from memory ... not sure if Lade had the quite the same injury though ...

Here you go, great idea with the gsheet, hadn't even thought of that, much better
Tidied up a couple and added one or two (RCD = 7kgs, knew it would come to me sooner or later, added ROB, RoMa and a couple more).
Second link is to a very basic price estimation / BE estimation tool. Had a much nicer one somewhere, but this one works ok for basic stuff.
