Greenwood is one who I think could be a top 6 forward. I thought he was a good inside mid when he played limited minutes for Adelaide in that role, hard footballer and solid tackle count. Just the forward time killed him. More tog and increased midfield minutes I can see him averaging 100ish, it's whether GCS can be competitive enough I guess.

I was surprised to find out that Parish is actually 3rd out of all of this years forwards for PPM in 2019 with only 73% time on ground, partially due to an injury. The year prior he had 79% time on ground.

The prospectus says he only attended 24% of Essendon's centre bounces but had the best centre bounce differential of the top 100 attendees, and he is rated above average for cp's.

The issue with selecting him is that it might be difficult to find success in Essendon's midfield at the same time as Dev Smith finds success and that one or the other might stop the other from being a premium in the forward line. After Zerrett, Shiel and Heppell I'd say Smith is 4th in line for CBA's and Parish 5th and although both are capable of going 90+ I'd be nervous starting both.

Still think he's a good pick but I'm hesitant to pick him alongside Smith.
You'd have to be pretty confident of a huge breakout for Parish. I reckon he'll get better - and really want to pick him, but yeah... all of the above brings me back to earth. The fact that we don't really know how Essendon is going to set up makes it a hard sell. I think I have to ignore my bias. I'm really close to going with McLuggage (obviously on a different line) and if so, I don't think I can take that extra risk.

Will be interesting to see how it pans out. Strangely, having written all that, it strikes me that the fwd line a better place to risk a POD than the mids....

Looking through the threads I see a lot of teams with Rivers and Gould at D7 and D8.

Rivers is extremely unlikely to start Rd 1 and Gould is 50/50.

If you are building a team I would suggest putting more realistic rookies on the bench or you will face very tough decisions come round 1 with limited time to react.

It is easier to downgrade a higher priced rookie than on the spur of the moment trade out premium players who you have built your preseason team upon.

Just my 2 cents of years playing this game.

A 1 prem, 1 spec, Robbo, rest rookie defence kinda scares me. But if the rookies are must haves I guess it makes sense.
I couldn’t agree more about my defense not being the most reliable, I just don’t know who too change to get the money to upgrade a def rookie, any suggestions?

Whitfield/Martin into someone like Parish/Andrew Brayshaw?

Agreed. But unfortunately Greenwood to Steven is my liferaft, should the rookies not show up.

I would see him averaging very close to 100 with more TOG and mid time at another club but at the suns I think you need to deduct 5 points away from that expectation as they all score poorly. He could still average about 100 but my prediction is about 95 or a touch under.

What's to say that they will continue to be the Suns of old...? From what I've seen of their game last week, there's a clear change in their approach and it wasn't anything out of the ordinary which should make it sustainable. Much better system and ball movement, only thing that was lacking was their delivery I50, which will come with time, cohesion and confidence.

I'm probably in the minority here, but I'm pretty bullish on the Suns SC prospect as a whole. They've gradually moved away from being a one-man team (post Ablett) and have recruited sufficient 'role' players to execute on a game plan that should at least make them a more competitive unit as a whole. Players like Hanley, Weller, B Ellis, Miles & Greenwood gives them extra composure through the lines. They already have a lot of hard nuts like MacPherson & Ainsworth which will give them a much harder edge at the stoppages. I know he's only a Rookie, but that Rowell kid is as solid a unit (and player) as I've seen in recent years, wouldn't surprise if he surpass JOM debut season at the Suns back in 2013...and I'm generally very conservative about making 'bold' statement such as this, especially going off only ONE preseason game!

Mostly we can't finally make these decisions until the Round 1 teams drop. FWIW, I try to make sure the rookies I've got as place holders are the more expensive, but still desirable, ones - making it easier to shuffle the dollars and positions.

I've updated my team and tried to minimise the amount of rookies in the forward line. I've included Vandenberg as a speculative and injury prone pick, but if he stays on the park could add $150k to his price. Vanders is also training only 2 days a week, to better manage the risk of injury, hence why I'm onboard. Atkins might seem like a waste, but I've read he's cleaned up his diet and has a bigger tank and will be getting midfield minutes as seen against GC. Crocker kicked 2 goals on the weekend, he may get a spot in the forward half based on his afl experience, although there's a lot of competition from Stengle, Murphy, McAdam, Jones Gallucci etc. Screenshot_20200226-215504_SuperCoach.jpg Screenshot_20200226-215538_SuperCoach.jpg
I've gone for higher priced rookies midfield due to uncertainty about any rooks getting a game. Obviously will adjust when teams are named.

I’ve seen a lot of people going very shallow with defender premiums, is there any reason for this I find picking defenders easier than up forward
a lot of F3 candidates have made their presence to consider them such as petracca, greenwood etc and the midfield premiums are just to good can't see myself starting less then 5, and possibly it's to do with structure if you don't have gawndy i think you can balance out each line easier but it's hard not starting gawn who's got 27% ownership

That's so close to my current side right now it's not funny, in fact it's suspicious ?
Guess we are splitting the 50k together:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
Goes to whomever registered first if it’s a tie IIRC, did you stay up until midnight waiting to register ??
Yes i did in fact it didn't open til 3-4am. i was one of the first few because i got into the 1st public league as so did my mate lmao
God damn it, I’ll take 50/50 then.
This little exchange made me chuckle very much. :giggle:
It's a classic bit of comedy writing with a beautiful setup.

Hi Profesor. I like to select unique players and see that you have selected two players that I have not considered at all (Martin and Atkins). I have read the explanation on Atkins but what are your thoughts on Martin?

For what it is worth I think you should downgrade Young (save 60K), Atkins to a Rookie (200K), Green to a cheaper Rookie (20K) and you get pretty close to being able to upgrade to one more keeper
