I think so. Why pick a premium who is not playing and has an injury cloud hanging over him when you can launch a fast start with a free hit at any other premium. The only time I would consider something like that is if a bench rookie went absolutely huge and I wanted find a way to field the score.
Haha yup.

Expensive doughnut.

would it be silly to see treloar on my bench and he then starts round 2 at best but depends on all my other options in team
The others covered some reasons, but another is the number of times we've seen a "minor" hamstring injury turn into a full tear a couple of weeks later after being aggravated.

If I have a bit of extra coin I think I might skip Oliver, not one mark last night.
I raised the Oliver concern after M1 sighting that with the three bulls in Viney/Brayshaw/Petracca joining him in the middle, it may have an impact on his output. I don't think he'll regress much if at all, however, I'm struggling to see where his upside is coming from for him to jump to that next tier.

Basically, the potential upside I had marked down for him going into this season has been negated by the personnel changes in their setup.

The other thing I noticed or more thought of yesterday was whether now having two accummulating wings like Tomlinson and Langdon might bypass Oliver a little. Those 2 had nearly 20 marks between them so are being used often and whilst Oliver is used more in the contest, he still would occaisonally pick up some ball on that transition. With wingers like Langdon and Tomlinson he'll be solely focussed on points at the contest. He may never mark a ball in 2020.

I don't know what to think of Oliver last night. I can't really upgrade him to a 600k+ mid so I'll have to stick with him. He didn't seem overly fussed about going full tilt and I think he picked up a knee knock which might have slowed him down even more - I saw him playing a bit forward in the 2nd quarter when he came back on. Wish we had another Marsh game to see how the new additions to the midfield would affect him.

I'm a bit worried that last night looked a lot like last season. He gets the ball enough but the intensity and desire to get involved isn't 100% there. Of course it's only pre-season, but you still wouldn't see Cripps putting in that sort of performance.

With Oliver it’s more the De Boer tag that has me a bit more concerned. If he went sth like 115 and 55, he’d be averaging 85 at R2 and psychologically I’d be feeling pretty bad about taking him but I should know that long term he would hit 110 and his price would revert pretty quickly to 580k odd.

The effect of Brayshaw/Trac will be interesting as well, I’m still open to taking Oliver as his scoring history at his age is phenomenal but can see the reasons to “wait and see”.

5 premium midfielders still feels the best way forward to me, as it has basically the entire pre-season.
Are you finding that you are unable to spend as much on the five as you would have liked due to the current rookie situation?
