Pretty sure the F1 won't go ahead at all this weekend based on that. Matter of time until AFL is affected.

Unfortunately, and I hate to say this as it's one of the few things to look forward to for me at the moment, we should prepare ourselves for a suspension or postponement of the start of our beloved AFL season. NBA already under suspension, European and British football (soccer) heading that way and fear/panic just starting in the Western world; here in Asia we're past that phase already. I really hope I'm wrong on this one. On the bright side, I usually am wrong !

My view is they might as well carry on until someone does get it (which is inevitable).. they're gonna get it anyway so why stop the season before it happens, it will only mean the season is suspended for longer than it needs to be.

From a SC perspective though.. imagine if after 2 weeks the season get officially suspended for 2 months... it's very unlikely it will be the same rookies all pushing for selection at that time which will create donut carnage!

The band we had booked for Saturday night has just cancelled. One of the members has been diagnosed with covid19, contracted it on a flight back from the USA.
I get that we have to minimize the amount of contact we have with others. But if the authorities were serious then why not also eliminate one of the events that has very high, close proximity contact, with others in our society that happens every day?

Namely, Public Transport.

Of course that would lead to a massive impact on the economy, but I think that's going to, or already is, happening.

I read the other day that they have only conducted around 10,000 tests thus far, to put this into perspective, South Korea do 10,000 tests a day!

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't it all about slowing the spread now rather than trying to stop it? If everyone gets sick at once the health system can't cope but if it happens over a longer period then there's a better chance?

Yes that would be the aim but you need to implement certain 'control' measures in order to achieve this outcome, you cannot control if you don't know how widespread it is. I'm not a medical expert so it's just my observation and view and I'm trying to 'control' my own circumstance where I can.

Haha that's a good point. Few of those players currently injured woud be right and could mean even less rookies on offer.
