If one player tests positive I reckon they will suspend the season and then there's some chance it could be cancelled altogether. The NBA's suspension is at least 30 days and they have not ruled out cancelling the whole season. I can't see how it gets any better in 30 days over there.

NHL cancelled, MSL cancelled, NCAA cancelled, MLB cancelled spring training

just a matter of hours before we follow suit

The band we had booked for Saturday night has just cancelled. One of the members has been diagnosed with covid19, contracted it on a flight back from the USA.
I get that we have to minimize the amount of contact we have with others. But if the authorities were serious then why not also eliminate one of the events that has very high, close proximity contact, with others in our society that happens every day?

Namely, Public Transport.

Of course that would lead to a massive impact on the economy, but I think that's going to, or already is, happening.
Denmark, which has only been hit with cases in the last week, has closed all schools already. All non-essential public sector employees off work for at least the next 2 weeks.
And another view on your public transport. Denmark has INCREASED the number of busses and trains running, so there is less crowding and more space.
I caught our local bus yesterday, which might normally have 8 or 10 people on it. Just me and one other.
All pubs, clubs, cinemas etc closed. Most shops still open. For now. Might only be supermarkets soon.

AFL to make a decision next week if the season goes ahead or is cancelled/delayed/postponed.

behind closed doors is the preferred option , otherwise cancel the first 4 rounds altogether and re-assess

Not in each carriage though.

It's about stopping sudden mass spreads at one gathering. One sick person at an AFL game could conceivable infect 100s over the course of a 3 hour game.
From the scientific reports I have read one infected person is likely only to infect 2-3 others.
