Has it been reported that the coaches are allowing the game to be more free flowing (less defensive scheming)?

Was referred to on radio as coaches wanting to improve soectical with everything going on, not sure if it was just someone’s opinion or an actual thing.

Ive gone heavy on top priced mids with the view of increased scoring but no congestion would be very bad for me.
I would have thought coaches are just doing whatever they think it takes to win from tactical point of view, just as they always have. God forbid the AFL would ever interfere with the coaching side of the game. That said I would put nothing past this administration.

Don’t forget that for those of us who missed Grundy it was an XvY on how we used the saved cash. It’s X: Grundy + Player on field v Y: Cheaper ruck + player we spent more on. So if Y scores 300, we look like winning! (y)
And you can always do two corrective trades before prices even change. If you’re sure you’ve got it wrong, just fix it and get back on track.

He's been pretty horrible tonight but I'll take that 60 SC at 3QT. Seems like the Doggies are rotating their other mids through the CBs a bit more this season as well.
Which is the exact opposite of what they seemed to be doing in the pre season games. Where most teams give opportunity to their lesser lights. Very strange!

I didn’t see last night’s game, but can I suggest that anyone thinking about picking up Howe next week should check out his scoring last year with Moore in the side. Still had some big games in the finals together, but they seemed to affect each other for most of the year.

That's not as 'definite' as I would've liked if I was planning to use him to loop Grundy (vc)...last game of the round too.
West Coast aren't one of the teams that usually pull late moves. We don't play games with selection usually.

Most of the time the team we select is who plays. If it was Geelong on the other hand I'd worry, lol

I'm going Williams as my VC.

2019:
J Howe:
Avg with D Moore: 72.5 from 12
Avg without D Moore: 91.57 from 7

2019 was Howe's 1st season at Collingwood below 90 (avg of 92.67 from 58 matches prior).
2019- Lowest disposals avg since 2015, lowest tackles avg since 2013, highest DE% of his career, lowest contested marks avg since 2015.
3/19 matches below 10 disposals in 2019 compared to 3 below 10 disposals from his previous 58 matches.

Anyone considering jumping on a Mcgovern/Andrews type with how well these kind of players are scoring?
I'd be a bit wary of McGovern due to his limited prep, Recovering from Achilles surgery at end of last year. Is playing this week but has only had half a pre-season game under his belt.

I wouldn't fret too much about Dunkley, Bont, Cavarra yet. Dogs were shocking last night, not the first or the last time a side puts up a stinker in Round 1. At least we can be fairly confident of their roles heading in Round 2. The ball was hardly forward of centre for the Dogs so it was going to be a painful night for Cavarra. I expect them to be much better moving forward
Every Year, remember last year when both Gawn and Grundy failed to score over 100pts. Coaches traded them. Doggies have played the worst game for the year. Will come good next week.

In my head he seems to be someone who is regularly injured/underdone but his game count was surprisingly good!

probably a biased opinion , but maybe just maybe the 3 Dogketeers were outplayed by a superior midfield last night , aside from Grundy's dominance in the first half (but agree hit the more to open space more) , I thought Pendles and Tay Tay were outstanding.

As i said we barely went fwd. Howe wont have an easier intercepting game than that all year hogging any chance if crisp for 25 touches. I cant wait until everyone rage trades crisp out for howe and its reversed.

To be fair he played alot with a bad back so probably didn't have the confidence to Intercept as much with his back open. Ended up missing a few games and scored decent when he come back with Moore out so i can see that point aswell.

I wouldn't worry about Crisp. The ball just wasn't in Collingwood's backline last night and when it was, Howe hogged it all.

Roughead 5 disposals
Madgen 5
Moore 11
