Now that I have your undivided attention with the duo question, it's time to ramp up the difficulty scale and test your knowledge on the following:

Throughout the VFL/AFL history, there has only been ONE quartet to have played 200+ games together and ONE octad (group of eight) to have surpassed 100 games together.

Clue: The record for quartet & octad stands at 218 and 102 games respectively.

One point if you can name the club and extra points for each correct players named in each set.

PM me your answer.

On this day in 1955, NZ were bowled out for 26 by England. That remains the lowest completed Test total 65 years on.

Can anyone name any other major Test records that remain unbeaten 50+ years later?

Are they official AFL games records ?

eg Alastair Lynch played for 3 clubs when in reality he played for 2

Does Bannerman still hold the record for highest % of runs scored in a completed test Innings ?

I thought Sehwag or Slater might have got close to breaking it.

He does indeed. In the first Test innings *ever* Bannerman scored 165* out of Australia’s 245. He contributed 67.34% of his side’s runs, which has not been bettered in more than 2000 Tests since.

Slater has gone closest, with 66.84% - 123 from 184 against England at Sydney in 1999.

Does Stuart Law‘s average of infinity count?
Not in this case , both have a average higher than Bradman for Australian Test cricket.

Does infinity count ? Does a average count for only 1 innings or does it have to be at least 2 or more ?

Kurtis Patterson?

Sure 1 innings counts for an average but as you would know Stuart Law was never dismissed. Once at bat for 50 not out. Same innings as Ponting debuted and was robbed of a century on debut with an LBW that would have gone 6 inches over.

His brother has an oval across the road from the Junction oval named after him.

Whilst his Australian average is greater than 100, his overall test batting average is 38.

Edit: corrected first statement

A couple of astute members have already correctly identified the QUARTET for maximum points.

A few have thrown darts at possible OCTAD, but none have landed on the board as yet.

OCTAD Clue: Think current millennium
