LOL.... seems to be a rumour going around that Chris Scott might be resigning end of Geelong's campaign to join up with Matthews @Brisbane.
Unlikely of course but is interesting.

I guess stranger things have happened :)
Ross Lyon to Freo
Blight to St.Kilda

Some of the strangest ones seen in my time.
Probably worst was as a little kid following Carlton and seeing Carlton win the 1979 Premiership on tv. Jesaulenko captain-coach in his second year in charge. Amazingly there was a political falling out at the club in the summer months and the President got ousted.
Jezza said if he goes then I go too. I was devastated as a little kid hearing the news on tv and Jezza went to St.Kilda to coach and play there straight away. Amazing to have premiership coach leave because of off field stuff. I never got over that as a Carlton supporter. Then at end of 1985 season another amazing coach switch was Carlton and Fitzroy swapped coaches. Parkin went to Fitzroy and Walls went to Carlton, Played home games at same ground and both ended up in top 3 in their first season as coaches of opposing clubs. It would be funny if North and Cats swapped coaches with the twins. :)

Be interesting to see what happenes to Neil Craig now, They've said they won't sack him (you'd think they wouldn't be able to afford it) I wonder if him and Roosy will be able to work together?

It now looks like Craig will get the job @Brisbane with a successor who is rumoured to be Nigel Lappin.
So not Chris Scott but his assistant.

Voss to Collingwood by the looks of things...

Sensational get by Collingwood to appoint Michael Voss as an assistant coach. A great move on all fronts.
Michael Voss has been signed as senior assistant coach to Nathan Buckley, with official news to be announced shortly.

Lappin :(. He's doing a ripper job at Geelong though. But deserves a major role like that. Seems like all our assistants are leaving to become senior coaches (or coach in waiting if this Lappin thing is true).

Will never really know what to make of our season and the pros and cons of Malthouse effect. In anycase season over now. 12 wins, 12 losses sums up it was a mixed bag. Glad we did at least one weekend of finals damage but never satisfied to fall well short of a premiership.
Really need to weigh up the pros and cons of trading Hampson or Warnock.
I suspect Scotland will be close to retirement and we don't need all of Curnow. Carrazzo, Cachia types in same team so Carrazzo worth as a trade got to think about. Ellard wlll find it hard to keep a role too. At crossroads in terms of list development and management. Early draft picks worth a lot right now.

I think you can get a bit carried away with hypotheticals at the end of a season. I think if you told any objective observer at the start of the season that Carlton would make the semi's with the list they have and in the first year of a new coach they would rate that as a good season! By the look on Scotland's face in the injury break in the last few minutes he thinks it was his last game!

For Malthouse if might be a good season given he is new to the list but as a Carlton supporter there is no way just making semi's is a good season for our club. We made it two seasons ago so treading water as a club right now. Changes have to be made to go further and yep, Scotland looked reflective like he playing last game. He's been good clubman but time maybe not on his side and players like younger Tom Bell being developed are the future rather than him.
Kane Lucas needs to be traded, Joseph needs to go are some of the first changes to get onto as soon as possible.

Should trade Waite for nothing. Injured/suspended half the time and when he actually plays he has a good game about 30% of the time.

Probably a year too late in being able to get somebody like Kersten. I wanted a Warnock > Kersten trade last season.

Indeed, but in my opinion treading water is about the best outcome for the club this year considering the list. The depth of talent just isn't quite there to elevate into the top 4 just yet. However, a year where a lot of new players were tried out and a new game style was implemented can only be a positive for the next few years. Until a few of Casboult/Rowe/Watson demand games rather than being gifted them out of necessity and your mid tier players Robinson/Yarran/Garlett/Armfield start running both ways then I don't see anything better than semis... probably also need to find an extra outside mid instead to replace one of the brigade of one paced taggers that back up Murphy/Gibbs/Judd.

Doesn't make it any easier to tolerate as a fan though I guess! Thats been the worst thing about this season, watching my team who have been hanging around for the last few years finally developing to the point they could be a genuine threat being screwed over by off field nonsense!

By beating Richmond last week it has put Carlton in the top 6 that means there in the top bracket for the fixture next year. Plus with there aging list and with the harder draw i see them dropping down a bit. I think getting into the 8 this year by default plus beating Richmond has been a really bad thing for the blues and will hurt them for years to come. Thats my take on the blues.

I know we hear it all the time but it's amazing that the top 4 at the end of the H&A season in every game except 2 have made it to the preliminary final since the introduction of this system. Money for Jam or too risky next year.

Looks like there may be a mass cleanout of players at the end of season.
To be fair, MM gave everyone 12 months to put their case forward to remain @Carlton at the end of 2013.
It will be interesting to see who gets the boot in the coming weeks.

Lucas is a very handy player and I would think quite a number of clubs would be interested if he were on the market.

Waite could be of interest to teams like Port and Brisbane who need a KPF but Carlton should hang on to him. Injuries aside, he's still a potent goalkicker and complements the smaller forward brigade very well. I think it would be Carlton's loss to get rid of him. It would be even bitter in 2014 if another team that gets Waite ends up knocking Carlton off the eight next year.
