Why? Whitfield one of the better forwards. Feels like chasing last weeks score. Have no issue for trading premiums if there is a gain of $100-150k to come in a shortened season, the maths just doesn't stake up on this.

I feel Neale is going to score more points per minute than Whitfield plus Neale has better durability and is the prime-mover of the Brisbane midfield.

Thoughts? Trying to resist the urge to blast 5 trades and chase all the points (viney!). Guys like Lloyd and laird will come good, Brayshaw I'm not convinced

I have the same issues with Brayshaw ($382,800), Zerk-Thatcher ($189,000) and Green ($166,800), trying to move them out with the fewest trades.

Have deliberately held off looking closely into my trades until we were much closer to the restart, and now it's go time!!

As the dust has now well and truly settled on Round 1, I'm reasonably happy with my side. Aside from a couple of X vs. Y rookie calls onfield, round one was decent. I've got the two big guns in the RUC, and will be keeping it that way, avoiding the (albeit very tempting cheaper options) and just banking Gawny with his nice run with the revised fixture.

Premium wise I think only Josh Kelly, Rory Laird and James Sicily would be the ones in the firing line. Kelly was my 'gut call' preseason pick who I just had the feeling would go to another level this year, despite the ever present injury risk. Whilst I'm certainly not writing him off after just one game, I'm wary that the shortened quarters might impact him, and the fact he didn't get too many CBA's (38%, which tbf was the same as M2), but with Ward to come back in I can't see that changing for the better. I'm toying with the idea of moving him onto Tom Mitchell, who looked incredible Round 1, and with the extended break will only be better for it, the certainty around his role and less blokes to hurt him scoring wise is a major drawcard.

I think I'll hold off on making a premium change in DEF, Jeremy Howe is mighty tempting though. Sicily I'll back to be fine, from memory he had an uncharacteristically poor kicking game in Round 1. I saw yesterday someone mentioned on the forum that Laird had is best scoring season when Doedee was in the team a couple of years back. Likely back him in to improve on that also.

Rookie wise, you'd have to think Bedford, Zerk-Thatcher, Starcevich, Cavarra and Green are in the firing line come Round 2, I don't have Sturt so if he gets up, he will be a definite trade in up FWD. Could be a matter of just awaiting teams with these blokes and seeing which blokes in my price range get picked. Hopefully Hill/Young for Freo are goers if Zerk-Thatcher is omitted. Would be very nice if Darcy Cameron can get a game and hold his spot over Cox.

If anyone has any thoughts on the above let me know.

Bring on Thursday night!!

Remaining trades would likely involve the downgrade of Brayshaw to a midpricer/rookie and 1 of Cavarra/Starcevich/Green traded if they end up being omitted.
Might need to grab Georgiades + Sturt so Brayshaw to 1 of them will free up around 250k for u to go into the next few weeks when u look at bringing in a must have. Can also skip on Fort with less certainty of playing and go up on Brayshaw.

I have also been putting off looking at my team until this week.

I didn't have a great start to the season, but for the most part I am still happy with my team.

Have so far done:

Zerk-Thatcher > Doedee
T Green > Bennell

I would have liked to grab Howe, but not sure if I should just back in my starting selections. Will monitor Cavarra/Starcevich to see if they are named or not.

Can you provide reason behind not bringing in viney.? One of my struggles is Dunkley to Viney to free up cash and to make cash. Or a side ways trade to Tich.

Not necessary considering my other midfielders, as well as more pressing issues on other lines. If I was to target a mid priced mid I'd prefer O Florent over J Viney.

Do you rate McGarth to make the next step to 100+ average. Or will he be shunted FWD again.?

I've been bullish on him for years. My only concern with him wanting to play more midfield and establish himself as one, then he's competing with Heppell, Merrett, Shiel and potentially Smith/Stringer in there too... I'm currently 50/50 on him..

'It's very tempting': Dees contemplating massive selection shock
JUNE 08, 2020
MELBOURNE could be on the verge of a round two selection shock, with coach Simon Goodwin confirming that he is desperate to blood new recruit Harley Bennell against Carlton this weekend.

Bennell, who was handed an AFL lifeline by the Demons after managing only two games in four years with the Dockers due to debilitating calf injuries, has had a number of minor setbacks since joining his new club as a supplemental selection period signing in February.

However, after a strong training block in isolation due to the game's coronavirus suspension period, Bennell has impressed in full-contact drills and is pressing for his place in the senior side ahead of Saturday's encounter with the Blues at Marvel Stadium.

With Melbourne set to enjoy the luxury of a nearly full-strength squad to select from this weekend, Bennell's chances of making his first senior appearance in almost three years now rest on being given the green light by the club's medical team.

"I want to (play him)," Goodwin told reporters on Monday.

"It's very tempting and it's exciting. We always thought he'd be ready about mid-year and it just happens to be round two, so he's done everything right.

"He's done a lot of training in isolation, but more importantly he's done everything we've asked of him in the last three weeks. He's definitely putting the pressure on.

"What it will be is a fairytale story for Harley. He's gone through a lot on and off the field and it's been a long time since he's played his last game of AFL football.

"We'll leave it with (high-performance manager) Darren Burgess and the medical team to come up with a decision, but he's going to be around the mark. He's very close and it's very exciting for the Melbourne supporters."

Bennell, 27, hasn't played an AFL match since featuring for Fremantle in August 2017, but established himself as one of the game's most exciting young prospects during an 81-game stint with Gold Coast.

Having impressed through the midfield during the club's match simulation drills recently, Goodwin now believes Bennell can make an impact in Melbourne's onball group later this season.

"He'll move between the forward line and the midfield," Goodwin said.

"He's a highly talented player, he's very creative and he's got a beautiful kick. His ability to use his skillset and put his strengths on show is something we're looking forward to.

"He certainly gives our midfield a slightly different look. He's very good in traffic and he can certainly kick the ball well forward of centre. He's an exciting player for us.

"But, once again, we do have to just temper our expectations. He hasn't played a lot of footy in the last four years. It may take some type to adjust to AFL level."

If I had the cash I would bring in Lachie Neale (658,500), one option would be downgrade Doedee to Young, however, if Doedee is named I feel he has better job security. Last year I kept meaning to get in the 'Human Meatball' and never did, so here is my perfect chance.

I still have to configure a trade to remove Cavarra from my side
