Huge game Friday night!
Both Hawthorn and Geelong favorites for the Grand Final matchup only 2 weeks ago, but now, only one of team will be able to make it.

If Hawthorn wins, it solidifies their standing as the best team this year given their tough draw and first placing. If they lose, it could be seen as a wasted year.
If Geelong wins, they are the Shane Warne to Hawthorn's Darryl Cullinan, and rightfully should be enthroned as the best team this year and only rivals Brisbane as the best team in the past decade. If they lose, it could be seen as a wasted opportunity to claim yet another premiership.

Keep an eye out for number 60 for the Cats in todays VFL grand final.
Matt Sully, big chance for the draft.

Anyone know a quick way of finding the following?

- how expansion clubs have gone in their first grand final?
- and how a team has gone in a grand final the year after losing one

I think the above is correct, my apologies if I missed any. I'm not sure it tells us much apart from the late eighties/early nineties, where you nearly had to 'lose one before you won one'.

Cheers.

Cheers soidog that's great. So from that Freo lose (to square the ledger) and Hawks win to continue the WLWLWL pattern :D

Makes me think that the Leppitsch appointment is much like the Primus appointment....preference to go for a former player rather than (from what I've read) better options such as Simpson etc (feel free to correct me if my viewpoint is skewed).

At least he has been an assistant at the Tigers since 09, unlike Voss who had no understudy experience.

Yeah true, good points there. Still makes me less inclined to select any Brissy players, even Rockliff.

Yes the Brisbane board seems to favor ex-Lion players over all others which is not a bad thing.
Collingwood already predetermined Buckley to succeed MM and Sydney had Longmire (although not ex-player but has been an assistant coach with the Swans for long time) to succeed Roos.
I guess ex players from the same club understands the club culture the best, and may already have built rapport with the board and senior players.

I feel that most the relevant SC brissy players will be over priced from the start so I won't be starting with any either

Paul Roos seems to have gotten into Swans bad books in just the last 7 days.
- trying to poach Lloyd Perris from the Swans Academy
- trying to poach Stuart Dew as the senior assistant
- gone after Nick Smith (who thankfully said no)

What time does the Grand Final parade finish today?

I have a meeting in Rialto at 4pm.... not sure if I should train in or drive in.
